Chrabs in a shooting slump & not handling recent traps & double teams very well. Woodson shooting a really poor % on open looks from three too. Going to need both those guys to do their thing in late February & March.
Really fortunate that Baldwin & Savage have been clutch lately. Liking what I'm seeing from Baddeley too. He and Baldwin could be real force defensively the next 3years
it's not out of the realm of possibility for Butler to get a #1 seed. The selection committee always says tournament championship games dont matter, but if Butler were to face Villanova ( a strong #1 seed ) for a third time in that championship game, and they beat Nova for a third time??? That has to matter. That has to mean something big.
No they shoot a lot of threes and shoot them well. Couple that with the unexplained losses this season makes for a nervous game. Hopefully a game I can attend with only a 5 1/2 hour drive. Anybody know if Butler & Minnesota will play in the same session? My wife is a Gopher fan which could make Saturday interesting...
After watching both games in person MTSU is going to be a very tough out for Butler. Surprisingly long, quick and athectic for a mid-major. That zone trap will cause issues. Also think Kamar is going to have to guard Giddy Potts and it will probably take a toll on him offensively.
Need Woodson to keep hitting open threes, need everybody to hit their damn free throws and need Kelan to do some real damage as a wing against their three guard line-up to advance.
Overall a well played game today but the opportunity was there to win going away.
One thing that was apparent watching the games on Thursday was that MTSU was not particularly disciplined offensively, is impatient and would take tough shots in the half court. Butler defense did a great job denying good looks early in the clock, MTSU forced shots and the Dawgs did a good job closing out possessions with the defensive board.
Kamar (and Savage early) were simply outstanding on Potts......
Some nice things happened offensively but this game felt like an old fashioned Butler victory. Defend well, rebound, take care of the ball and make winning plays late in the game.
Great season for the Bulldogs. Next year's incoming class looks awesome. Hoping they can fill the PG/ball handler role somehow. Maybe the grad transfer from Virginia? Or maybe Jorgensen is better than I think?
