He represented everything that was good about the game of basketball. Very sad.

Good call. Butler is better than many Power 5 programs. With the upgrades to Hinkle, a fertile recruiting base, and high national profile, a coach has a greater chance for success than at many other schools.

I don't see Holt leaving for a program that hasn't been consistently better than Butler. It'll take a clear step-up, most likely a team located in the south for him to go.

I feel like, with how he recruits and his past that a southern school will be his destination someday. I'm sure he loves Butler, but the fact is that our athletic department can't pay him like bigger universities can. We're a soon-to-be 5,000 to 6,000 person liberal arts school known for pharmacy and dance.

Really happy with the Kyle Young verbal. One more good get (PG seems like a must) and '17 is shaping up to be another solid recruiting year

The Bede kid they are recruiting is supposed to be an elite defensive point guard. Hopefully Butler can get him and a wing to round out the class.

Will they take two or leave an opening for a transfer? Would really appreciate a quality defensive guard on the floor again, Tough going from Nored to Barlow to what was in play last year......

Edit: Forgot that the Bulldogs were on Christian David's short list. No doubt they will forget about any flexibility with transfers if he wants to commit.

Typical Butler win against a favored opponent last night. Early but this team has some promise. As much as I loved Rose Jones & Dunham overall think this group could be a better & deeper mix of talent......

Yeah I think we are better than any team we had with Rose and Kellen, besides maybe Kellen's freshman year team.

Hell of a win. Many thought the magic would leave with Brad Stevens, but what Butler has continued to do as a small, private university under Chris Holtmann is one of the most impressive achievements in all of college basketball.

This basketball program doesn't the need the big state budget, a ton of McDonald's high school all-americans to be successful (while they would take the ones who fit their culture), they seem to find players who play for one another, are selfless, and just ball. They do more with less, and you could argue that they even do it better than many of the big basketball programs with more. To me, that's incredibly impressive regarding their efficiency. They've created a winning culture that seems to transcend many of the recent great college players they've had. Many people thought Butler would fade, but they never left. In fact, they're here to stay.

I guarantee you that out of bounds play that resulted in the Wideman dunk to seal the game has Brad Stevens smiling. Players have to execute but that was art.

This team does everything well except rebound. If they shore that facet up at all and Lewis can stay effective this team will matter in the BE & in March.

I feel like Fowler is almost ready for big minutes. He could be a huge factor in February and March when it comes to rebounding.

Have definitely been impressed with his effort and production rebounding the basketball. Probably just needs to improve some on defense in order for Holt to be confident enough to play him bigger minutes. Was in the wrong place at the wrong time and late on rotations a fair amount last night. Probably a lot to do with the IU athletes playing faster but that will be an issue in conference too.

Agreed. He had some nice low post defensive possessions on Bryant, followed by others where he'd surrender baseline or give Bryant an easy angle to the rim. Still, he gives Butler some much needed size off the bench and has shown significant improvement this season.

Think a frontcourt of him and Brunk could be pretty imposing in another season or so.

Was worried about ball security especially after the St. Johns game but he has been so valuable the last two games. BE teams will continue to exploit Lewis at times so he will have to play some heavy minutes in a lot of games. Dude looks more than up to it and is fearless driving the ball into the paint.

I'm assuming CBS sports is accurate. They show Butler as having the 18th best 2017 recruiting class coming in. Purdue 31, IU 37.

Wow Butler. WOW! Owning the state right now easily.

Indiana will end up with the best recruiting class of the three, and Butler will end up as the best team on the court of the three.

surprised we're even that high for 2017. Eastern's good but Haarms and Wheeler are shots in the dark and Ewing's just gonna be a 2 year rotational big if we're lucky.

Great win for Butler today over Xavier. Kamar Baldwin is one of the best freshmen in the country. I love his effort.
