Around 8 hours to go as I type this!
-Yes, this is pointless. I have no inside sources, no inside knowledge, no anything other than some common sense and an idea of what I think teams should want to do in my opinion. Will any of this end up being correct? Who knows?
-It is way more fun to do a mock draft with trades in it I think. Just as pointless though, but maybe Ill end up being just as correct as many of the so called experts out there.
-This has nothing to do with what I personally would do or where I personally have guys ranked. It is just a guess on how the draft might go tonight.
-I do expect much more movement than normal, although some of these front offices are so jacked up it is hard to tell what they might do. (Sacramento, I am looking at you). By the way, am I the only one that thinks the Sacramento owner looks like the "Jurassic World" owner that crashes the helicopter and gets blown up?
-Without further ado, here is my one and only lame attempt at forecasting what goes down tonight.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Minnesota: Karl Anthony Towns. Great pick for what they need. Minnesota, sort of by accident, is starting to resemble an actual team with this pick.
2. L.A. Lakers : Jahlil Okafor. No Boogie trade, Lakers stand pat and just take Okafor.
3. Philadelphia : DeAngelo Russell. One of the analytical minded teams, they take their guy they need. Plus he wants to play there.
4. New York: Mario Hezenja..... Now, we begin the trade wackiness! They aren't going to keep him.
5. Orlando: Kristaps Porzingis.
6. Sacramento: Emmanuel Mudiay......but they aren't keeping him either!
7. Denver: Frank Kaminsky......they aren't keeping him either!
Let's stop and review for a moment. Here is your predicted first trade results, omitting the small details:
------Knicks end up with Danilo Gallinari, Nik Stauskus and Frank Kaminsky, and future picks
------Sacramento ends up with Ty Lawson, Wilson Chandler, and Mario Hezenja
------Denver ends up with Emmanuel Mudiay
8. Detroit: Takes Stanley Johnson
9. Charlotte: Justise Winslow, but they aren't keeping him.
--------Charlotte trades Justise Winslow and Cody Zeller to New York
--------New York trades Frank Kaminsky and a future 2nd rounder to Charlotte
10. Miami: Willie Cauley Stein, but they aren't keeping him
11. Indiana: Cameron Payne. Nice pick, I can't be mad at it....but I'd take Booker of course.
--------We have a trade.
---------Indiana trades a future protected top 14 #1 to New York
--------New York trades Cody Zeller, cash to Indiana
12. Utah: Devin Booker
---------We have a trade.
---------Utah trades Derrick Favors, rights to Devin Booker to New York
---------New York trades Tim Hardaway Jr, Indiana future #1 protected 1-14 pick to Utah
13. Phoenix: Myles Turner...but they aren't keeping him
Phoenix trades Alex Lin to Miami for rights to Willie Cauley Stein
14. Oklahoma City: R.J. Hunter
15. Atlanta: Trey Lyles
16. Boston: Sam Dekker
--------Boston trades Marcus Smart, pick #28, and future draft picks to Pheonix
--------Phoenix trades Eric Bledsoe to Boston
17. Milwaukee: Bobby Portis
18. Houston: Tyus Jones
19. Washington: Cliff Alexander
20: Toronto: Kevon Looney
21. Dallas: Rondae Hollis Jefferson
22. Chicago: Jerien Grant.....but they aren't keeping him.
23. Portland: Kelly Oubre
24: Cleveland: Rashad Vaughn
25. Memphis: Jarell Martin
26. San Antonio: Justin Anderson
27. LA Lakers: Guillermo Hernangomez
Lakers trade rights to Guillermo Hernangomez to Philadelphia for pick #35, plus a future 2nd rounder
28. Phoenix, via Boston: Nikola Milutinov.....but they aren't keeping him
------Phoenix trades rights to Nikola Milutinov, plus future 2nd rounder and cash to Chicago
------Chicago trades rights to Jerien Grant to Phoenix
29. Brooklyn: Montrezl Harrell
30. Golden State: Arturas Gudaitas
Does any of that actually happen? I have no idea....but wouldn't be fun if some of it did, just for chaos sake?
Indiana ends up with Cameron Payne, Zeller, and whoever they pick at #43 in this scenario. New York ends up being the stars of the night with all of their moves. Boston also gets better I think. Other teams are just mysteries.
Remember, this was just for fun with no inside knowledge whatsoever. And for all I know, 4 trades just happened while I am typing this that messed it all up anyway. Remember, this mock draft admits to being ridiculous and pointless, unlike most of them.
Have fun tonight, Pacers fans!
