    Default Man I missed Dale

I know he has been back for a little while now but tonight seeing him out there muscling Ben Wallace out of the way and getting blocks and rebounds just hit it home even more than before.

He is the toughness and intimidation we were lacking for the last few years. Jermaine is a very good player and it was a good trade but I think we lost a lot more than we thought we did when we traded Dale.

Al and Ron together = more than DD
But I like Dale a lot. We DID miss him. Then we replaced him with Al and Ron and were plenty strong enough. Then we lost both and we're wimpy again.
Then we got DD back and we appreciate that muscle more than we did. JMO

Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

If you literally combined Al and Ron, called him Ral Arrington, and made him 6'11", then I might agree.

Would he have gone into the stands faster than Ron did?

I don't think I would like him very much....

Nope. He'd have backhanded Ben Wallace into the third row, though. And the Pistons fans (led by X. Wallace) would have stormed the court anyway.

Why do we have to get off on a strange tangent.

Dale tonight was simply outstanding. He set the tone and anchored the Pacers defense

Davis was just way more important than some people wanted to give him credit for and his trade was not a raping of Portland.

Yes it was. We got Jermaine O'Neal out of the deal. What did Portland get?

Its not our fault they did not know how to use Dale.

DD has been about double the presence I thought he would be. And it was obvious every time he went into the game tonight, especially in the 4th.

They got something we've been lacking ever since...

That's right... a player we could trade for cap space (which is what they did with Dale).

I'm not denying we've missed Dale. I'm just pointing out that if you compare the effect it had on both teams, the trade wasn't close to being even.

    Shhhhhh....

Keep in mind I'm the nut in the clocktower. I'd be fine if we'd never gotten JO because I believed we had at least a couple more championship runs in the team.

...Or had we ignored the AD/Bender trade, saved AD and traded AD for JO, I would've been happier.

I'm just not convinced we made our near term chances at a championship better by making the decision in '99 to break up the team and then reaping what was sowed in '99 when the defections became complete in 2000..

I'm just not convinced letting DD get away was a smart move. That's not saying anything negative against JO and what he brings to the table, it's just speaking to what we lost. If another way could've been found to acquire JO, then wonderful.

He was a monster tonight. He makes all the difference IMO. Several awesome blocks. BUnch of rebounds. A presence. The psychological factor is enormous. Peck's credibility goes up a notch.

I take it back, Ragnar's right. I forget how Al wimped out against Detroit and that Ron doesn't fare as well inside against bigger teams. I meant that their combined presense was similar in effect to DD's, but you're right, neither of them moved Wallace around a bit.

Everytime I think of a frontline of Dale, J.O, and Ron I giggle like a 8 year old girl
