Thread: I couldn't be more mad, SCREW THE LAKERS!!!!

Default I couldn't be more mad, SCREW THE LAKERS!!!!

That is the worse I have ever seen a team get robbed. The way outside official makes a call to scrwe the nuggets in the last 24 seconds of the game that probably would have sealed it.

I just really wish the Lakers would cease to exist. I mean, they are the only thing wrong with the game. I don't know HOW Denver can have that travesty happen to them and go on the road trip they are about too.

This is the worse call I have seen, probably EVER!!!!

    I am SOOOOOOOOO MAD!!!!!

the ball clearly hit the rim on the last nuggets' posession, yet they called a 24 second violation... I wonder if it was the same officiating crew that Ray Allen had beef with.

How many of these instances are we going to witness before someone opens their eyes and FORCES the league to change it?

They just showed it on sportscenter, and not suprisingly they didn't go in depth at all about the awful call. Didn't even really mention it. =\

I do not like the Lakers, either. But did it ever occur to you that the Lakers have nothing to do at all with what is wrong with the game.

It is NOT the Lakers fault that they either get, or at least appear to get, preferential treatment.

The problem is with the way games are called. In other words, the officiating crews and the calls that they make.

It is certainly not the fault of the team that benefits from the calls.

Now if you have a problem with the arrogance demonstrated by some of the key players of the Lakers, then I agree and I'm on that bandwagon.

I didnīt see the play so I canīt comment but it sounds like a botched call for sure. But I did look at the box score and the freethrow situation looked way in favor of the Nuggets.

I donīt believe in this great conspiracy. Iīve seen many Laker games in my life and Iīve seen crap happen to them that noone would talk about unless it happened to one of their own. Iīve seen botched calls go both ways. Sure, Iīm the first one to buy that this was a totally wrongly made judgement but I donīt think it happened because the Lakers gets this controversial treatment. Do you guys not remember the obviously BS calls against the Pistons this season for example? Crap happens. It just seems more people notice it when it happens in favor of the Lakers.

I feel like a broken record.

There is not conspiracy, it was a horrible call, but I gauarentee you the refs will get fines and maybe suspneded for that

Ok, I am tired of reading posts about it not being a conspiracy. I agree, it is not a conspiracy, but I do believe that the big league office wants LA to do well and hence allows them back in games with calls and non calls. I have seen it this year with the Kings and actually with the Spurs. They have these big market teams and they are looking for one thing, DRAMA. That is why they swallow there whistles.

But the problem with everyones comments are that they are not based in fact in this case. Too many, 'I looked at the box score. . . blah blah blah'. So lets talk.

First of all, did anyone see the game last night between the Wolves and Nets. Nets shot fewer freethrows that most of history, so the Wolves got all the calls. 5 Nets FTs to 17 Wolves FTs. If you didn't watch the game, that is an easy point to sell, but if you did watch the game, you know that the refs sat on their whistles ALL NIGHT. The number of actual fouls in the game were utterly outrageous, but you wouldn't be able to make that assumption till the end. As for the 17, at least 6 of those were Hack a Kandy at the end of the game, did you know that as well, because 5-11 is pretty bad. Not to mention the few last minute fouls to keep them in the game. So we are talking like 5-9 FTs repectively, a bit silly huh? Anyway just another point that reading boxscores tells you very little.

So to the Nuggets game, let me analyze what I saw watching it, and maybe help people understand these box scores.

I didnīt see the play so I canīt comment but it sounds like a botched call for sure. But I did look at the box score and the freethrow situation looked way in favor of the Nuggets.
Well, lets looks. 15 Lakers FTs to 31 Nuggets FTs. That is outrageous. But what makes a team not go to the line. How about outside shooting? Wow, Lakers took 16 3s to Nuggets 8. That is unreal. What about possessions. Lakers had 91 as opposed to 77. That seems to me like a couple of offensive rebounds (10 as a matter of fact). But we are talking about the Lakers, and we know who always goes to the line when he gets the ball. But wait, Shaq only had 10 FG attempts, unbelievable, but he still had 9 trips to the line. So Shaq with his measly 16 points and 8 boards was not even involved in offense. Surely, I am being a jerk here, but to prove a point.

I watched the game (league pass rocks), and the things I pointed out happened. the Lakers had people taking nothing but unwarranted outside shots. Medvedenko took as many shots as Shaq as did Bryon Russell. Basically they didn't play there game and were getting hammered for it. The Nuggets keep on attacking Shaq, and kept on. Think to the highlights, all the nuggets highlights werre dunks and layout, and the Lakers were outside shots, no Shaq hammer-power dunks. It was a disparity. But in the last 6 minutes, the refs sat on there whistles, and the game was put so the Lakers could make a run. No fouls called, on either end, and hopefully, the Lakers could do the work. The possession before the inbound on the 24 violation was a CLEAR foul, and wasn't called, because the Lakers were down, and because the refs in general can't make a cal in the clutch.

The two others refs knew the ball hit the rim, and didn't seek to overturn it, one just looked at Jeff and shook his head. clearly they were wrong, and they didn't care to fix it. Lakers did the last shot on there own, and won the game.

But don't sit here and tell me the Lakers just merely benefit from the call. Any team that gets the game called one way for 43 mins, and has it change on them in the last 5 will be wondering what is up too. I don't think it is a conspiracy persay, but I do beleive the Lakers get teh benefit of every call in the fourth quarter of games.

I know when I jump tp a Lakers board and they are saying, damn thanks refs, we robbed them tonight, that I don't feel good about what happened to the nuggets. I just wish people here would be ballsy enough to understand hat teams do get privileges and it does bother people routing for the other team. Also, ESPN grazed right over it which doesn't make the matter any better, and there is no way I think an apology is issued, not against the Lakers, but we will see.

    End Rant!

NBA admitting mistake? Well, it's nice to see. Shame it still counts as a W for LA though.

Just saw that the official in the game, Michael Henderson, was suspended by the league for the mistake.

They admitted to screwing up throwing out Ron in the Kings game, but I don't know if they sent out an official statement.
If I remember correctly, Bird simply said that Stu Jackson had issued the apology/admitted the mistake to him in a telephone conversation.

Did you see the officials in the Orlando/Clevland game work with their uniforms inside out in protest to the suspension? What a Joke!!!! It is HIGH TIME that these guys are held accountable to the public like this. I wonder if these jokers in this game will be disciplined for their uniform trick! I'm sure the NBA loves being showed up by their officials!

    Wow.
That really goes to show you that the ref.s believe they have their own little fraternity going on, with their own codes of conduct and loyalties. The league has to punish them for that attitude. To even have a Referees Assoc. (or whatever it's called) which acts more than as a union for salary purposes seems wrong-headed.
