    Default Brian Cardinal

I know, I know - it's easy to say after a win but I was really happy for Brian Cardinal. It's nice to see someone who has paid his dues get rewarded.

Cardinal is going to get a nice little contract after this season whether with GS or elsewhere. He's one of those "stories" that you love to see (much like Boykins was/is).

Probably not. If he were still with the Pistons he'd be buried on the bench.
He was a training camp invitee and the last guy to make the roster. Because of injuries he was given a chance and he made the most of it. That's one of those things that won't happen on most teams. With Detroit he would've never had the opportunity to do anything as they've been for the most part healthy; so if he was still there he'd likely be "that guy on the injured list".

I know. I know. I always thought that he'd stick as a Jeff Foster type player but he has really come along.

What about him signing with the Pacers, obviously with roster changes occuring. With Croshere and probably either Harrington or Artest being moved during the off-season there's a chance they could have a place to fill for a guy like Cardinal. I'd be all for it, but I seriously doubt it actually happens.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

Seriously, I'd have a hard time rooting for the Pacers if they got Cardinal. He's one of my all-time least favorite players.

    And for the alternate opinion:

If the Pacers got Cardinal Kegboy would actually start paying attention to the Pacers again. He might even consider going to a game or two.

Why do you come on here and insult Pacers fans? Diehard, fair weather/casual. I don't care. They're still fans. Considering you're a Bucks fan, I don't get why you feel like you can come on here and talk **** about people's fanhood.

Kegboy will come back around soon. As will this city. Sounds like my employees. They resemble what this city's fanbase is looked at and that's fair weather. They said they used to follow the Pacers nonstop when they had Reggie and also making the playoffs every season and didn't really pay much attention to the Colts during that time period. Now that we've sucked for years and the Colts became Indy's team during that period, everyone hopped on their badwagon. Now it looks like it's reversing. Peyton doesn't have many years in the tank and let's face it, without him the Colts are nothing. With the Pacers making the playoffs and doing some good stuff there, it's a great positive Pacers basketball is back.

Everyone's on the fringe of officially hopping back on board and more tickets will be sold and the attendance will shoot up next season. It's an obvious prediction considering how much popularity the Pacers have gained when they made the playoffs. TV ratings went up a lot and people whipping out retro and modern Pacers gear and wearing it around and less Colts ****.

Times are changing here in Indy.

I don't know what the case is in Milwaukee, but the Bucks are a ******, old team with overpaid garbage and the Bradley Center has got to be the worst arena I've ever been to. However, Miller Park is great as are the Brewers so far this season.
    Oy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You just don't know your forum history do you?

While your enthusiasm is commendable your ire is wrongly directed here. Grace is no more a Bucks fan than I am Clippers fan. She, like myself, like's their coach.

Also if she wants to insult her Brother think that is probably ok as well. You do know that they are brother and sister right?

    ......AWKWARD!

Oh boy do I feel like an idiot.

I still stand by my prediction however.
In 49 states it's just basketball, but this is Indiana!

For the life of me, Peck, I can't come up with a plausible explanation for that apostrophe.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

We had this discussion recently on Warriorsworld. My take is that Cardinal will probably get a 3 year deal worth about 9 - 10 million total. Not quite a mid-level deal. Some people seemed to think he'd be worth the mid-level but I think that he's basically a really good role player. Maybe someone would give him the mid-level for a 5 year deal but you also have to wonder about his style of play. The way he plays could leave him pretty banged up (even if he suffers no major injuries) and render some of his game ineffective. His shooting and free throw shooting probably wouldn't suffer because of this but his hustle could. On the other hand, he's played relatively few minutes for as long as he's been in the league so you could basically look at him as a "second year player" who basically sat on the bench for his first season then is playing a larger role in his second year.

Brian Cardinal is (at least going by how he played in college) Jeff Foster with a little less size and a jump shot.

Amazing how just being able to hit a shot can help.

It still doesn't seem real that he is gone.

    ABADays passed away. Cancer.

Cardinal's story is an amazing one. Who would ever of thought when he played at Purdue he would have a long NBA career? I think most thought as I did that he had next to no chance of making a roster that first year out of Purdue. I am glad for him, an average college player that some how made it.

I think he's been in the league for 11 years. Wow, he's going to have a pension plan from the NBA that entitles him to $195,000 a year. Crazy.
