On a side note: Illinois was exposed, again. Lost by 14 at home to Northwestern.
Michigan wins at Minny tonight.
I think it's coming down to IU, Wisconsin, and Michigan for the conference title. No other BIG team has really impressed so far this year (though Michigan State is always a tough place to play).
Down goes Louisville. Could've been #1 again.
Seriously, quit the storming the court if you're any sort of a big name, decent team, I don't get it. NC State doesn't need to do it against Duke, Maryland doesn't need to do it against NC State, Butler doesn't need to do it (I'd barely even say its an upset at all). It just looks lame to me.
I will just put this out there. At the start of the year a lot of people bemoaned the lack of one dominant team as if it meant it was a down year in basketball, but I have to say I couldn't disagree more at this point. I think this is a very deep talented field and you could probably make an argument that 15-20 teams have a real shot at being in Atlanta this year.
The UCLA/Oregon game on Saturday was the first Pac 10/12 conference game with both teams ranked in 4 years, and they were 21 and 24.
Of course, not all people feel the same way. A respected IU blogger was sure to tweet just how "poor form" he felt it was and how there was "no comparison" between this and the Kentucky game. Which is particularly funny to me considering how similar the circumstances between those two games appeared but more because of what happened in the 2009-2010 IU game against Minnesota.
I'm a bit of a stickler about storming the floor, but I woulda rushed at Hinkle too. It wasn't an upset celebration deal, it was HOLY **** DID YOU SEE THAT?! I CAN'T SIT STILL! GameDay was there, national TV , insane finish, the excitement had been building all day.
But yeah, somebody let Maryland know we don't rush the floor for beating the 14th ranked team in the country at home in the Big Ten, Penn State wouldn't even do that, all dozen people there to take part. You're Maryland, not North Dakota State or something, you're a good program.
I'm the biggest stickler about storming a court, but the moment was so overwhelming. I never thought that I would be at a sporting event where something like that would ever happen again. It was such a euphoric moment that storming the court was almost necessary. I think even the biggest sticklers would have no problem with it. In December it will be looked at as one of the best sports moments of the year. I'm glad I was able to participate in storming the court.
Hey in the least surprising story ever, turns out Frank Haith, a guy who was groomed at the U, might just be a dirty coach!
How awkward was it to film this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pM9h0hHRJIo&sns=tw
Kentucky is not a good basketball team. Garbage loss in Tuscaloosa tonight.
I'm just going to throw this out there. I think Kansas is probably the sneakiest very good team in the nation. I know they've been highly ranked for a while so no one is sleeping on them, but I don't hear the Jayhawks talked about much either. Sure, they're not perfect, but I don't think there is a perfect team right now. Withey is a darned good player who sets the tone for that team.
Part of the problem for them is that the Big 12 is terrible.
What is the vibe around the UK team right now Darren? I understand they won the title last year, but it is also UK and we know your fan base has a low tolerance for coming up short. Are people accepting that this is just a rebuilding year most likely or are there folks who are overreacting?
What on earth is happening in Miami? Duke was down 30 a second ago!
LOL DUKE!! Down 34 points with a minute to go in Miami!
Suck it, Dook!
Is anyone else kinda pissed that Wisconsin is 0-2 since beating us?
