Really they were huge underdogs in this series. I still don't know how they did it.
But I'm glad they did, because Catch is one of those rare players that actually deserves a ring.
That was a really cool moment with Herb.
Who else could be MVP? Catchings all the way.
I hope the Pacers are taking notes.
What an amazing story. All the adversity, all the injuries, people kept counting them out and they went out and won it anyway.
People who scoff at women's basketball need to read about this team...because they are truly an inspiration. This is what Indiana basketball dreams and legends are made of.
Catchings pulled a Lebron. MVP, gold medal, and a title all in 12 months.
Fever should inspire the Pacers to never give up.
The Lynx were 25-0 all-time when Lindsay Whalen had 7 or more assists.
Tonight she had 8.
where you at Danny?
The spirit and energy with which they played made me go from marginally interested in this series to absolutely riveted in the span of 30 seconds. Bravo to Tamika.
And the Pacers should remember this clinic on how to upset the odds-on favorites.
postgame stuff on WNDY
Something something the rim is the same height when you play the Lynx as every other team....something something Hoosiers
I was trying to hold it together so hard when we won and Catch lost it and the trophy was there... and then Herb said it was Mel's birthday and he dedicated the win to him... and I just lost it. We'll never forget this night. Thank you, ladies.
And thus concludes the most ridiculous b2b2b in my life.....
....THE RIGHT WAY!
Those hats look sweet, I'm getting one!
Kegboy and I were there. He lost his voice and my throat hurts, but it was worth it!
I believe Mr. Vogel once had a little something to say about the fear that can be generated by a relentless underdog that just...keeps...coming, eh? The Indiana Fever embodied that in this postseason run. Awesome. I hope it inspired our Pacers! Some of the players are close (like Catch and George Hill), so that's a definite possibility.
This next 12 months is gonna be a good time for Indiana basketball. Thanks to the Fever for starting it off with a BANG!
Parade on Tuesday for you lucky locals: http://www.wnba.com/fever/news/celeb...rade_2012.html
The Fever proved that a team can beat a group of stars. And that's what the Pacers need to do too. I'm happy. And I've been celebrating a little too much. But I'm happy, and it's really nice to be happy.
What a great night, capping it off with finding out it was Mel's birthday was fantastic.
My favorite crowd sign was the set that said "I got a cowbell and it can only be cured by MORE FEVER!"
I could allllllmmmmmmmmooooooooost make an argument for Erlana Larkins to get a nod for series MVP because I really think her contribution was the missing piece the Fever have needed for a long time - and kudos to Coach Dunn for having the guts to make such a HUGE lineup switch in the playoffs then sticking with it. When it comes right down to it, though, the MVP is the opne who puts you on her shoulders and carries you to the finish - no question that was Catch.
They didn't print up anywhere near enough championship t-shirts, so they ran out long before we could get to one. The hat is what I really want.
