I passed 3 cars last night without their headlights on from 8:30-9pm.
Maybe they're on Chicago time and it's really only 4:30.
I haven't touched a guitar in 15 years or so...and so I pick Classical Gas as the first piece to attempt?
Am I insane??????????
Dragging a deer out of the woods last night I went to drop down a ravine. My right foot slid out from under me and as I fell I twisted. At the same time, my left foot remained planted and ended up twisting at a bent 45 degree angle, uphill and behind me. Luckily my bro-in-law was with me and was able to help me up and together we limped that deer back to an opening where the Jeep waited.
The knee has no swelling but baby does it hurt. There is even a spot on the inner thigh side that hurts when I touch it. It woke me up a couple of time smarting when I turned over in bed.
It even hurts up into my hip (prolly from stretching it as I fell. I have to be really careful how I plant my weight down or how I turn or twist.
I'm 64 and my bro-in-law 62....wth were we doing in the woods at dark? (well, in our defense it wasnt dark when we started trailing this deer).
So, ouch, how long will this pain last? Where is my buddy from Taxi when I need him? (Kaufman)
On the other hand, I can now do the splits.....and sing suprano.
Finally saw the doctor yesterday.
The hip he says, is hurting because of inflammed bursa and from being stretched.
The knee....well I have a scrip for an MRI. He's fairly sure there is a tear but not sure how sever yet (MCL). Rest and rehab vs. potential arthoscopy.
its never easy to lose a pet thats been with you for 6+ years...
I like that Geez waited almost two weeks to see a doc. That's a very man thing to do.
His nurse gave me heck for not seeing the Dr on Call. I have NEVER had a good experience going to the back-up Doctor....I don't care if they are tied together thru the same computer system, they don't know me and I don't know them....and they cost too much to be told "well I really want you to see your doctor when he gets back".
Besides, I'm old and cantankerous.
MRI tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.
I hope they have some pretty, young thing (female) there to hold my hand and assure me that this won't hurt. ;)
MRI's on your knee aren't that bad. (Dunno if you've ever had one.) You get to sit with half your body outside the machine and stare at the ceiling for 35 minutes. I had one done in September when I twisted my knee playing soccer and crumpled to the ground in an oh so graceful heap.
YEah, I prolly have it pretty easy considering that right now (2:00 Indy time) my mother-in-law is having knee replacement surgery.
Makes my pain seem kinda wimpy.
Well I laid on that table with earphones on and couldn't hear a thing for all the noise the machine makes. So, I went to sleep. Unfortunately my leg started aching so bad it woke me up. I guess I'm not used to having it fully extended like that. I had to have help getting up from the table as my leg offered no support or lift...but I finally made it.
Now I just have to wait 2-3 business days for the results.
Doc called with the results last evening.
Severe sprain with partial tear of the MCL....no surgery recommended. (No PT either?)
then he added.... Significant detereoration of the cartiledge within the knee due to severe arthritic condition (I didn't know I had that) future replacement is recommended.
Well he didn't say how FUTURE that was so I'm taking the tact that it is WAY in the future.
He told me no treadmills or similar exercises. Recominant or eliptical machines are what he recommended.
So I'm going swimming.
No PT huh? When I had three bones bruises, severe strains of both ACL and MCL and some other stuffs, they made me do 8 weeks of PT and I'm glad I did. I am younger I guess.
Not sure this makes sense but I have found in the last couple of nights that if I lay on my side with an icepack under my hip I have no pain in my hip or knee. I think I must have pinched a nerve or something when I twisted my hip as I fell and the ice is the balm for that.
Oh...and as of this morning, I'm a college student!!
