Luther Head, former guard for the Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers, has agreed to a non-guaranteed one-year deal with the Sacramento Kings, according to Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski. If Head is on the Kings' roster on Dec. 1, his $992,000 salary will become fully guaranteed. He is expected to compete for a roster spot with undrafted rookie Donald Sloan out of Texas A&M, former Celtic J.R. Giddens and 1-2 other fringe NBA players.

More interesting is how Head got here.

In July, Head reached a two-year, $2.5 million agreement with the Hornets. But before Head could sign the contract, the Hornets withdrew the offer, claiming the guard failed the physical on account of his surgically repaired ankle. Wojnarowski reports that this was a cover story for New Orleans.

Woj reports that when GM Jeff Bower was fired after the verbal agreement on Head's contract but before pen met paper, Hornets president Hugh Weber decided he didn't want Head's deal on the cap for the next personnel boss. Failing Head on his physical was an easy cover story, so the guard's deal was canceled.

Nothing happens in a vacuum, and sources tell Woj this greatly affected Head's ability to win a guaranteed contract from any team, leaving him heading to camp with the Kings.Head's agent Mark Bartelstein saw this coming back in July, then telling NBA.com's Art Garcia that his client wouldn't have had trouble passing any other team's physical.

The good news is that he has the early pole position on a Kings' roster spot. Sacramento has sought role-playing shooters in free agency, and Head, who has hit nearly 39 percent of his long-range attempts in the NBA, fits the bill more so than Sloan or Giddens. A few I can remember from last season were Dahntay's Department of Defense (Dahntay Jones), Dr. Watson's Clue Crew (Earl Watson when he played here), Area 55 (Roy Hibbert), and I think Danny Granger's is Team 33.

Anyway, does anyone remember what Mike Dunleavy's section name is. I knew he has a banner.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - U.S. comedian Robert Schimmel died on Friday night in a Phoenix hospital from injuries he sustained in a car accident, his public relations firm said on Saturday.

Schimmel, 60, was a passenger in his 19-year-old daughter's car on August 26 when she lost control after swerving to avoid another accident on a Phoenix highway. The daughter was hospitalized, but is expected to recover. Schimmel's 11-year-old son was also a passenger in the car and was uninjured, according to media reports.

The actor was best known for his radio work on "The Howard Stern Show" and had appeared on several HBO programs, including his own special, "Unprotected."

Schimmel had a heart attack in 1998 and in 2000 was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, from which he recovered. He later wrote a book about his treatment called "Cancer on $5 a Day." A couple of years ago when I first joined this site I talked of putting on YouTube a kind of... Well, lets just say this has been a longtime coming.

A couple of years ago when I first joined this site I talked of putting on YouTube a kind of tribute/examination/celebration of Roy’s four years at Georgetown (no Pacers highlights unfortunately). It would be a way to show the type of progress he had made as well as allow Pacers fans who had not seen much of Roy to get a sense of the type of player their team was getting. I was receiving advice from folks on how to transfer my DVD footage and put it online and when that failed I offered to give my DVD to someone on this site who were more tech savvy and could put the stuff up on YouTube for me. Nothing ever came of it though.

Two years later you guys know the type of player and person Roy is. However I still kept the footage. Now that I’ve been given some instructions on how to put video online, I’m going to be spending a lot more time the next couple of years doing so. Still I wanted to fulfill my promise to myself to get the Roy footage up and running so I decided to make it my first major experiment in online uploading.

What I have done I don’t think ever has been done before for a college player or perhaps not even a pro player. That may suggest how silly it was of me to do it in the first place. But what’s done is now done. Basically I have taken Roy’s play over the course of four years...in order btw-every game is placed in chronological order...and put it up in an online archive for everyone to see.

Even without including all games and all highlights this supersized highlight reel is broken down to SEVEN parts with most of them being as long as ten minutes.

This is not going to be for everyone. Roy isn’t Mr. Highlight after all and isn’t the most exciting guy to watch (compared to Allen Iverson whom I’m also putting together Hoya clips for YouTube with a guy in China Roy’s footage is pedestrian). Nonetheless for those interested you will see how Roy grew as a player on the court and see him do things that many scouts and college basketball fans never realized or forgotten about. You will also see him share the same court with future NBA players such as Jeff Green, DaJuan Summers, Aaron Grey, Rudy Gay, Hilton Armstrong, Josh Boone, Tyler Lawson, Luke Harangody, Wilson Chandler, Joakim Noah, Kyle Lowry, Al Horford, Hasheem Thabeet, Sam Young, DeJuan Blair , Corey Brewer, Wayne Ellington , Mike Conley, Dante Cunningham, Wesley Matthews, Greg Oden, Deron Williams, Brandon Wright, Jared Dudley, Hakim Warrick and future teammates Josh McRoberts, Tyler Hansbrough and AJ Price. Whew. And those are just the ones I can remember. That’s what happens when you stay in school for four years. You tend to run into everybody.

Seven parts is a time-killer to be sure. But, hey, at least there is a holiday on Monday for most of us. And with Roy’s popularity on this forum arguably being at an all-time high maybe now is the perfect time to post this. Excuse me, though, for those two or three highlights which I wasn't paying attention and let run on too long. This was my first attempt at something like this.

Hopefully down the road I can do something like this for Roy's pro career if warranted.
