:pistons: get:
Mike James
Chris Mills

:celtics: get:
Chucky Atkins
Lindsay Hunter
1st rounder (and possibly cash)

This is basically to clear space for the Pistons to re-sign Memo. They're apparently still working to get Sheed, but don't hold your breath. Keeping Memo is Dumars' primary concern. Sheed would just be a bonus.

While that is true, the SECOND Atkins is dealt to Boston, we will make the deal with Atlanta. Thats what has been coming out of the war room all morning.

I agree though, first priority is getting that extra cap space.

If we move Corliss and Campbell too, we'll be 20 million under

Isn't Detroit sending some of the stuff to Boston that they were sending to Atlanta originally for Sheed?

Not really, other than Hunter.

We'll just turn around and send Mills to Atlanta in Hunter's place.

We also have Milwaukee's pick that we can send to Atlanta.

So, who would Detroit be sending to the Hawks? Mills, Rebraca, and Sura?

Mills, Fowlkes, Rebraca, sura, possibly Milwaukee's pick, i think.

Darvin Ham could also be traded.

How many players would that leave on the Pistons' roster?

How many players would that leave on the Pistons' roster?

Prince
Darko
Wallace
Wallace
Billups
James
Okur
Williamson

Thats 8 guys.

Of course, thats assuming we deal all 5 expiring contracts to Atlanta. Im not %100 certain we need to do that.

If you have only 8 guys when this is over, that's suicide.

Um...can Detroit do that?

Well, thats an extreme scenario, Im thinking wed find a way to keep ONE expiring deal.

We can always find guys off the scrap heap. Doleac was just waived today, for example.

They'd have to be signing players, there's no way the union or the league allow that (and I'm pretty sure its against the rules.)

But the only rule I can think of is that teams have to dress eight players for every game.

I believe the rule is you have to have 12 players under contract.

Like I said though, we can always scour the waiver wire for 3 contracts or so.

I'm not even sure that teams have to have twelve players under contract, back in the day - before teams began using the injured list as a taxi squad - this happened from time-to-time. However, the union may have insisted on this rule in one of the more recent CBAs.

Besides, there's always the NBDL, too. So its not like this trade can't happen just becuase it temporarily leaves the Pistons with eight players.

I think the Detroit-Boston trade would be part of a three-way deal with Atlanta.

http://www2.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=1531090

Detroit gets Wallace and James for Sura, Rebraca, Atkins, and Hunter

Atlanta gets Sura, Rebraca, and Mills for Wallace

Boston gets Atkins and Hunter for Mills and James

Atlanta and Boston would probably also each get a first round pick from Detroit.

Detroit's roster would have 10 guys:

Billups
Hamilton
Wallace
Wallace
Okur
James
Prince
Ham
Fowlkes
Campbell

AGreed, except no way can we deal James. Hed be our only backup PG.

Wed be dealing Ham instead most likely.

Detroit would get James in the proposal I made.

That's a terrible trade for Boston in my opinion. James is better than both Atkins, and Hunter, I guess it's all about the 1st rounder, although it's going to be in the high teens from Milwaukee, or in the 20's if it's Detroit.
