By Ben Golliver (http://nba.si.com/author/benjamingolliver/) The Bulls are expected to sign free-agent forward Lou Amundson to a 10-day contract, according to reports from ESPN.com (http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bulls/post/_/id/12391/sources-bulls-in-talks-with-pf-amundson) and the Chicago Tribune (http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/basketball/bulls/ct-spt-0301-bits-bulls-76ers-chicago--20130301,0,475486.story). The Tribune reported that the Heat, Celtics and Knicks were also interested in his services.
Amundson, 30, has bounced around between six NBA teams during his seven-year NBA career. He signed a one-year contract with the Timberwolves in September but was released on Feb. 8 to accommodate the signings of Chris Johnson and Mickael Gelabele.
A garbage man rebounder and hustle player, Amundson holds career averages of 3.8 points and 3.6 rebounds in 12.9 minutes per game. He appeared in just 20 games for the Timberwolves this season, averaging 1.6 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.
Chicago’s roster is currently at 14 players, leaving one open spot with which to sign a free-agent. Amundson would join a big man rotation that includes All-Star center Joakim Noah, starting power forward Carlos Boozer, and reserves Taj Gibson and Nazr Mohammed.
The Bulls are currently the Eastern Conference’s No. 6 seed with a record of 33-25.

Only thing really interesting here is the reminder the Bulls are in the 6th seed meaning we are dangerously close to a 1st round matchup with them if we arent careful. That doesnt sound at all enticing as that would make for a very long and grueling road to the finals-especially with the likely return of Rose. Though if Rose does return it would seem possible they dont finish that low. Time will tell and should be interesting to see how the seeding plays out. Lets hope the Bulls get to the 5th seed and Boston finishes 8th. Then the Heat can play Boston and potentially the Bulls.

The Pacers are going to get either the Bulls, Boston, Brooklyn, or Atlanta in the first round. Any matchup isn't going to be enticing.

Yes, we have to understand that we aren't going to again be playing an Orlando team minus Dwight Howard. We caught a big break last year.

EDIT: I do agree that a series against the Bulls with Rose could be particularly tough. I'd want to light myself on fire if we were eliminated again by them.

It would be great to beat the Bulls, Knicks, and Heat to get to the finals. If we are going to tout ourselves as contenders you have to beat the best to be the best.

I would rather not draw the Celtics in the first round. They're playing very competitive basketball right now.
