Look forward to this night every year.

Gerald Green's Dunk Contest IQ is almost as bad as his basketball IQ.....He tries an extremely high difficulty dunk that is not even that flashy, he may have gotten 10s across the board just because they may have respected the degree of difficulty but that wasn't an EWWW and AHHHH type reaction dunk that you try to get at dunk contests don't get me wrong it is obviously probably a very hard dunk but come on Green bring a safer 50 dunk to the table to get to finals should have been easy for him with how laxed these judges are judging.

Well, first of all, it's not my call, so all I'm doing is giving my personal two cents.

Secondly, he correctly labeled your gross comments. That is in no way a personal insult or attack. Unless you really are that bothered by being called a bad sport, in which case your skin is thinner than tissue paper, especially considering the comment you made that prompted his response in the first place.

Thirdly, I think at least a part of you knows that. Therefore, if anyone is being a troll, it's probably you....

If you are looking for sympathy from anyone here (posters or admin) over this, you're probably wasting your time.

Dunk contest....
They should get one dunk per round. MAYBE give each player one lone mulligan they can use in the competition. That way they can possibly take one gamble on some super-duper dunk and if they miss do something more pedestrian just to get a score and possibly hang on.

The attempt after attempt is pathetic and boring. The only thing more pathetic is seeing a player awarded a high score after needing 25 attempts to complete a dunk.

I suppose they could at least give a player a penalty with each miss... So say a -5 per miss. So even if a player did get a 50 from the judges after several misses, his overall score would have have the penalty deducted from it. It's not fair to the contestant who gets it right the first time for someone else to be able to match him in points even with several misses.

I think this is the first year I'm realizing just how painfully boring most of All-Star Saturday Night is.

i have thought the entire thing (game included) is incredibly boring.
don't think i've watched it in well over a decade.
edit: i remember back when i actually did watch things like the dunk contest before i got bored with it, they actually used to have actual stars of the game. perhaps they should rename it the athletic scrubs and semi-recognizables dunk contest or something. everyone knows the big names haven't competed in a long time and aren't going to again.
and i also could have sworn there used to be a rule where each contestant got like 1 replacement dunk per round. it sounds like last night they just let guys take as many attempts as they wanted. without any consequence for missing, they made a boring contest even more so.
and by several of the posts i have seen, it looks like of those who saw last night, they were pretty bored.

As people continue to complain about the "stars" not taking part, up until last year there was at least one "star" or well known player participating every year. Even in the years where Jordan, Wilkins, and such took part, a majority of the participants were bench players. To tie in Francis, he finished 2nd in 2000.

i believe he shouldve gotten a higher score on that 2nd dunk just off of difficulty, that is a very hard dunk to pull off!!!

Not to mention that GG actually completed a dunk 8 (or however many) times. Unfortunately he was going for 16.......

They need to give them one try only with more dunks. This is unbearable to watch. It's always great to watch a recap of it with each individual dunk later but on Saturday night it's just brutal.

I agree with this. I'd probably do away with the tournament format and have everybody dunk 10 times and keep the best 5 scores or something like that. If you miss, go back and get in line, get out your notebook and plot strategy with your guys. I want to see what everybody in the contest had planned, so I definitely don't like cutting the field after only 2 dunks. If you have 5 good scores after 5 dunks, then you can try the crazy stuff.

Charles Barkley just admitted his grandmomma worked as a meat-packer... smh

I don't get it. Why is this "smh" worthy? Is he supposed to be ashamed?

Sorry gummy, it was a failed joke referring to maybe potted meat wasn't the only thing Barkleys granmamma is packing... tacky, I know...
