Someone with: (preferably) Leaguepass, NBA tv , a broadband internet connection and a TV capture card.
oh and a couple of hours to test and setup :)

Reason:

Considering trying a life stream of the game(s) starting with the Christmasday game, but a test before hand would be nice.

How it works:

The above will have a simple program running that sends the capture to one of my servers, where it will be re-broadcasted (crunched and streamed-out) for others to watch.

Your anonimity is guaranteed, no one but me will know where the stream comes from.

For all other purposes I run the stream on my servers.

I will grant access to the stream to selected people (KNOWN to me) only, for obvious reasons.

Finally:

This may or may not work, the request is for a test, not a permanent solution, sorry my bandwidth costs money :)

You can PM me if you want.

whats the word on the street... did it work ? did you get a Volunteer ??

Word on the street is I have several volunteers, but nothing happened :(

Reasons are simple: I need someone who is not afraid to run a linux disk while doing this, it will alter nothing on your puter, but it will run while broadcasting under linux.
straight after the broadcast you reboot inwhatever OS you want to run and voila.

Also if the "owner" knows little of linux that is not a problem, he then however needs a public IP (the one you get from your ISP, if it is a 192.168.xxx.xxx it is not public) so we can log in from here and do the work for you :) all you do is sit and watch :)

So in effect; still looking, anyone that wants to fit the bill and help a couple of Pacer fans around the world by giving them access to televized games via me, please let me know :)

The system does not need a dual boot setup, it will only boot for the stream from the linux (gentoo) cd and run for the duration udner linux, not using the harddisk of the system whatsoever, verything else is done on the server.

after the game you simply take the cd out and reboot, voila back in whatever OS you use.

OK answers that. I prefer IRC or emule myself but BT seemed like it would work a little better.

just straight ftp download beats all.

I will make a public one, nay worry.

bt and all other methods are based upon you giving what you get, I would not like to add my 45 MB/s dedicated connection to that kind of abuse, downloading 1 Gb and having 5 Gb downloaded, no thanks.

Progress report:

I got the card and installed it. I am having some tech problems but I hope to have them worked out soon. Right now I am just getting lines across the screen.

Umm, possibly. Can you tell me how you convert from .mpg to .xvid?

Ragnar

Well after some frustration I am up and running. Starting tonight I will be recording the games and uploading them to able. I will be recording them in mpeg and converting to xvid for size considerations. If anyone has any bit rate preferences let me know now. I will try to make them one cd encodes so that people can burn them onto disk to save space.

Do you want the halftime stuff? Most games that are on league pass we cant see the halftime stuff but when it is also on another channel and is the Pacer broadcast I should be able to get the halftime show. Sometimes there is some good stuff there so for now I will keep the ones that are Pacer broadcasts. Otherwise it would save some space.

There are some decent "free" programs available to change the size and "viewability" of the vid: I can personally recommend KVCD which keeps high quality but small size (full lenght movie on 1 cd)

check out the site: http://www.kvcd.net/portal/index.php

I'd help on this, but I don't have a cap card. It's a great idea though, since I live in Ohio and I don't have League Pass, the only games I get to see are the national games and when I go to sports bars.

Ragnar

Able I have it encoding. I am having network troubles so I was not able to transfer it to the faster computer. So as soon as it is done I will upload the game. It recorded just fine.

I hope a representative of the NBA does not contact this forum if we post full games for copyright infringement...we will see what happens but it should be posted on a separate overseas server.

Ragnar

Sass we are not posting anything. We are just helping out some overseas friends. Of course we dont know exactly who is overseas but hey.
