The Dallas Mavericks have waived Troy Murphy to sign Derek Fisher.
Murphy was signed shortly before the start of the season.
Murphy averaged 4.6 points and 3.5 rebounds in 18.3 minutes over 14 games.

Surely O'Brien won't let this go unpunished. Who will steal all the rebounds and jack up 3's with no arc???

Whew! I guess nobody died. Maybe "critical" would be a better word?

Derek Fisher may not be "gangsta"... But his underhanded work with the union makes him, "Gangster", like Hoffa. Will fit in perfectly with JOB and the boys.

As a Mavs fan I'm pretty embarrassed by this signing. Not as embarrassed as I was by signing Troy, but still embarrassed.

Irrelevant question. Are you only a Mavs fan or a Mavs and Pacers fan?

I got a good laugh out of the scoller on NBATv last night. Said that the Mavs waived G-Troy Murphy for Fish.

Amazing that this guy started and played 32mins a night for the Pacers up until the end.

I'm a Mavs fan first, and they'll always be my team. I was actually drawn to the Pacers primarily because I heard how great the basketball talk was on this forum. And over the past 7-8 years I've started watching almost all of the Pacers' games too.

Isn't this where JOB resigns and cites "philosophical differences with management"?

I actually feel pretty bad for the Mavericks because after Dirk retires within the next couple of years, the biggest name on that roster could be OJ Mayo. They could be looking at the type of years we were having 2006-2009.

I still don't understand why Mark Cuban thought it was more important to work on his TV show the same day that he was supposed to be helping the organization recruit Deron Williams.

Murphy being injured had nothing—I repeat nothing—to do with our five game win streak.

I was kinda pissed about that too, though at the same time I don't see any way that Deron would have walked away from the extra $25M, Cuban or no Cuban.

He signed with the Mavs Nov. 1 2012, so I'm guessing JOB may have been a part of getting him there. I bet Rick really appreciates it.

Underhanded? Depends where you're sitting.

Amazing is one word. Look at the cliff his stats dropped off once he started playing for real coaches.

I think that Stern should fine the Mavs for waiving Murphy.

Such a move is clearly detrimental to the League when it affects ALL the other 29 Teams that plays the Mavs since they won't have to plan on playing the "human chair" on the defensive end any more.

Add in that this will also affect the Tanning Sponsors that support the NBA....:rimshot:

I like Rick also, but his halfcourt sets and x's & o's got way too predictable imo. That and his lack of holding all players to one standard.

I betting Deron was just deflecting blame on Cuban for Deron not returning "home". If Cuban thought he could have really signed Deron, I'll never believe he would not have personally met with him. Cuban is no dummy.
