Gothic Ginobili Review:

http://i46.tinypic.com/35ksuih.png (http://gothicginobili.com/)

Small Market Mondays #1: D.J. Augustin's Revenge Game

Come one, come all and welcome to Gothic Ginobili's first edition of Small Market
Mondays! We know you must be sick of all the attention that small markets get from
the lamestream media. That Ben Gordon trade saga seemed to last FOREVER, didn't
it? But we know what side our bread is buttered on. At this point, we really don't
have a choice -- we HAVE to jump on this bandwagon to get precious page views.

To start this week's installment off, it's only right to begin with the biggest storyline
of the week -- the DJ Augustin revenge game. Augustin famously did what many
superstars of his caliber have been known to do and made the move from the record
-breaking, title-holding Charlotte Bobcats to a smaller market in Indianapolis. When
asked about if the Pacers thought the Bobcats were competition due to their record
-breaking season last year, Pacers GM Kevin Pritchard had this to say: "Charlotte is
defending nothing. That's in boxing, you give the belt back. They don't have this
year's trophy."

Meanwhile, Bobcats VP of basketball operations Rod Higgins confirmed what we all
thought: Augustin understandably took less money in Indiana while giving up his
starting role in Charlotte in order to play in a media market with 60,000 less people.
As you must know by now due to the positively nauseating amount of coverage,
Augustin went 1 for 7 from the field. In this writer's opinion, that underrates his game.
It was absolutely one of the most efficient 1 for 7s this writer has ever seen. Every
single one of his misses gave his teammates a great chance to hit the offensive glass
as he intelligently took five threes knowing they'd result in long rebounds for his
teammates. One would have to be delusional to think he was actually trying to make
those shots and not displaying classic small market classiness by trying to make his
teammates look good...CONTINUE READING AT GOTHIC GINOBILI (http://gothicginobili.com/?p=4942#more-4942)

48 Minutes of Hell Preview:

http://i50.tinypic.com/1j85ly.png (http://www.48minutesofhell.com)

Spurs vs. Pacers Give and Go Preview

Apparently the Spurs have never started a season 4-0 (https://twitter.com/JMcDonald_SAEN/status/265122390248419330) in franchise history. Doesnít
matter if it was Tim Duncan, David Robinson or George Gervin suiting up, itís never
happened. Considering how successful this franchise has been for its entire history,
this is baffling to me. Strange but true.

San Antonio goes into Monday nightís game against the Indiana Pacers with as good
a shot as theyíve ever had at going undefeated through its first four games. Everyone
is healthy and theyíre at home with at least one day of rest. The Pacers, meanwhile,
come in to the Alamo City missing arguably their top offensive player (http://www.eightpointsnineseconds.com/2012/10/danny-granger-out-indefinitely-with-sore-left-knee/) (Danny Granger).

To preview the nightís action, Jared Wade (https://twitter.com/Jared_Wade) of Pacers blog 8 Points, 9 Seconds and I
chatted about all things Spurs-Pacers. Well, maybe not all things, but as many things
as we could squeeze in.

Andrew McNeill, 48 Minutes of Hell: Considering the Pacers were oh-so-close to
taking down the Heat in last yearís playoffs, where are they at to start this season?

Jared Wade, 8 Points, 9 Seconds: Their offseason consisted of retaining their key
free agents (Roy Hibbert and George Hill) and retooling the bench. There was no
reason to think it was a big upgrade, but with guys like Gerald Green and Ian
Mahinmi, there is more potential upside. Still, I donít think many people would
say they made any major improvements, so the consensus agrees that anything
more than making it to the Eastern Conference Finals is probably a pipe dream
ó especially if Danny Grangerís knee issue lingers all season.

AM: Whatís the latest on Granger? Are things looking bleak?

JW: As of now, we really donít know. The doctors are still looking at photos and
checking out his sore left knee. He originally hurt it in the Miami series and
aggravated it in the preseason. Iím far from a doctor so canít really offer any
prognosis. But I can say this confidently: things look very bleak for Indianaís
offense if Granger misses significant time. They barely edged Toronto in their
opener (which took a Herculean effort from David West), lost to Charlotte while
showing a complete inability to score, and needed two overtimes to beat the
lowly Kings. Yeah, the offense without the captain has not run smoothly.

AM: What about Paul George? I feel like all Iíve been hearing regarding the Pacers
in the offseason and preseason is how good George will be. Is this just hype or is
he going to be a legitimate star?

JW: ďLegitimate starĒ may be a reach but he definitely could get there. Regardless,
he already very solid on both ends of the court and has the potential to be one of the
very best...CONTINUE READING AT 48 MINUTES OF HELL (http://www.48minutesofhell.com/spurs-pacers-preview-2012)

Young is better with the starting unit than Green

Sparhawk

I think Young starting is the right way. The focus for the starters scoring should fall to Hibbs, West, PG and Hill. Young just needs to provide solid D.

Hopefully the bench will be stronger with Green on it now.

Let's minimize TOs, Box out and hit FTs.

Most of the time, it's the players and not the coach. That's not to say Vogel's offense couldn't be a bit more creative, but this roster is also severely lacking guys who create shots for others. That's what made Augustin such an appealing pick up, to me at least.

Embarrasing! What are they doing. They give up all the progress the worked so hard to get at half time. Hibbert is worthless, its amazing that he is this bad. This team does not play with the same chip on their should they had for the past 2 years.

Our coach is way too positive.

I don't think there were many people thinking he was the "next coming" at season's end, or even at the All-Star break last year. Maybe after we got him for Murphy there was enthusiasm, but that fanaticism seemed to dissipate by the end of his 1st year here. But maybe I'm wrong a third time.

Yes I think you are wrong for the 3rd time ;) as the number 1 "DC hater" I can tell you that DC had and has a lot of fans, they argued with me every single day for about a year, many told me(not when the trade happened) that DC's numbers were as good as Nash at the same age and that he could have been the next Steve Nash.

Nice one, PG.

Terrible defensive rotations, bonehead turnovers...basically, the most aggrevating type of basketball to watch.

Forgot to add stagnant offense to this.

Overreaction warning: Do we really miss Granger this much? Is it coaching? Are we just not that good?

George Hill would be the perfect complement to a shot creating SG like James Harden (or his former teammate Manu). Think expecting him to create shots for others is a mistake.

Outside of his last TO I though he's done a good job of getting our bigs some FGA.

I'm DC hater #2 and I agree with ya. A lot of ppl loved him nd wanted him to remain a starter even though George looked a lot better with the starters last season.

And once again you're distorting what people said to you.

Yes, people did point out on Nash's numbers at the same age but they never said that he could be the next Steve Nash.

A lot of people thought Brian Shaw would be a head coach this season - apparently, some of you think that's going to still happen.

Not having Granger is a huge minus, it lets defenses concentrate on others and makes our offense even more stagnant.

When it comes to feeding the post and all that he's great. But as a drive, draw the defense, and kick type guy I'm just not seeing it.

A huge part of our offense sucking is the fact that we were supposed to run offense through roy and other than the first half against Toronto has a been a burning garbage pile of awful
