This is pretty cool. I don't know how you could ever authenticate that it was game worn though.

If that was a Reggie Miller jersey I would be seriously, seriously tempted. That is my holy grail of Pacers jerseys: The white FloJo Reggie Miller.

Agreed. I was able to snag a blue Mitchell & Ness one for 40 bucks off of some underground online jersey website that doesn't even exist anymore. It's probably counterfeit, but it looks 100% real. Best purchase ever.

Did they EVER sell white ones?

Not to my knowledge. I feel as if I would have found one by now. Lord knows I have been searching for over a decade now, albeit passively.

Did they have the blue and yellow stripes, or were they like the bland blue replica ones which Champion sold that didn't have the stripes?

I can't remember, I haven't seen one worn in public in probably 15 years now. :D

I really have to question this....Smits was what....7'4" and he wears an XL +3?? That just seems really short to me...Looking at the length of older NBA jersey's that measure at 33" long for XL, and NEW NBA Adidas jersey's that measure at 38 inches long, that would put this jersey between 36" and 41" in length....At 7'4" Smits stands at 88"...That seems awfully short to me....

I am not an expert on jerseys from that particular era, but having just purchased a game-used Foster jersey with impeccable provenance, I can give you at least a standard of reference. Foster was 6'11" and his jersey is a size 2XL+2" so given the extra 5 inches for Smits you are probably in the right ballpark with the jersey offered. Different companies sized differently also at various times. One word of caution: the jersey for sale is not photo-matched to the picture that is also at the ebay link. To me, that is a deal breaker---for such a high price it is not worth the risk that it is not game-worn. Always try to either have provenance or a photo-match. You might be able to get a phot match on your own if you look at Smits' basketball cards or photos circulating on the internet. Good luck and let us know what you end up doing.

The auction states:

MEASUREMENTS are in inches
Chest: 23
Sleeve Length: n/a
Back Length: 33
Waist: n/a
Rise: n/a
Inseam: n/a

33" for a jersey that was worn by a man 7'4"??

Straight from NBA Store's Website (http://store.nba.com/info/index.jsp?categoryId=1381339), your Foster jersey at a size 50 is actually a 2XLT which measures at 39.4" long +2 making it 41.4" for a man that is 5" shorter than Smits...

There could be some measurement miscalculations and oddities that can factor in here, but by the jersey's listing stating that it is only 33" long, I would be very very weary....

The info I gave you about the Foster jersey was correct. I just looked at the website and I am looking at the letter and jersey right now. It is a 2 XL and I have a photo match and other info to prove it is legit. You must have accessed info about a different Foster jersey, and this actually only serves to prove my point. Different companies have different tagging and different sizing. It is not uncommon for length to fluctuate with style, and of course it is not uncommon for size to vary over the course of a player's career. Bottom line: if you don't have iron-clad provenance or a photo-match, you are taking a risk.

It looks like this one sold for $1,135. I don't know how you could ever verify that it was game worn, but it's still one bad*** looking jersey, nonetheless. I agree with cdash, an authentic white flo-jo Reggie jersey is the holy grail of uniforms. Talk about something that would turn a few heads at the Fieldhouse.

I actually have a white Smits FloJo. Unfortunately, it's not game-worn, and even more unfortunately, I'm no longer skinny enough to fit into it properly.
