A little off topic, but this video put a funny thought in my mind. What would it be like if women's gymnastics resembled dunk contests. Can you picture a gymnast sticking her landing and then chest bumping teammates and mugging for the crowd? The crowd screaming and carrying on in typical dunk contest style. It would be hilarious!

The homie @King24George got crazy bounce. Just saw him reverse 360 b/t the legs windmill at the Nike FOS in Shanghai. No warmup #sick

Not to rain on the parade, but let's hope he is working just as hard on things that will actually help him AND the Pacers this season.

Dunks are cool and all, but I want to see him shine in game situations, not just doing exhibition dunks.

If you didn't want to rain on the parade...you could have, you know, not. This video says zero about how hard he has been working this offseason. There's a bunch of other guys on the roster doing nothing to entertain us during the offseason--just because we don't see videos of them dunking doesn't mean they're putting in the time/hard work and PG isn't. Could very well be the other way around.

I understand your general concern, but I just don't think there's any connection to the topic at hand, at all. We all hope our guys are working hard and getting better, all the time--it goes without saying--so why the need to be negative and cast a shadow of a doubt on PG's work ethic.

GREAT dunk, great exposure for PG, great exposure for the Pacers internationally, no downside here.

He still wouldn't have beaten Kevin Hart in the dunk contest.

he's over in China with LeBron James, Amare Stoudamire, Rudy Gay and some others at the Nike FOS event. Seriously, whats the point of this post other than to be a negative Nancy?

Wow... I used to think Terence Stansbury was the greatest Pacer dunker until just seeing this.

That is pretty impressive.

I understand your point, but that stuff doesn't typically get put on youtube very often. Just because one video emerges of him in a dunk contest does not even hint that he isn't working hard, it just means he understands that you need to have fun sometimes too. Sometimes it is when you are having fun that you improve the most.

Very impressive. I think he will eventually win a dunk contest as long as car from a corporate sponsor isn't involved.

I has to be nice to hear such glowing praise about your athleticism from an athletic freak of nature like Lebron.

It was also cool to see the crowd in Shanghai go nuts reacting to the dunk.

Geeeeez thats a sick dunk!!

BUT, am I the only one thats a little worried about the relationship bron and pg has, I mean pg already states that's his favourite player.. do you guys think there's any chance he bolts for mia quickest opportunity possible?

i don't think there is a player in nba that wouldn't go to big market teams when he has the chance.

Not for Miami... What they will be able to offer him, we would certainly match when he is up for his next contract as a RFA...

Paul obviously hasn't been in the league that long, but I feel like he is a pretty loyal guy. Sure a lot of players would love to join the super teams, but those teams probably won't be able to offer PG nearly as much as he will be worth when his contract is up. Also, I don't think absolutely every player would like join a team like Miami and LAL.

Almost certainly centimeters. Comes out to about 32/33", which is still really good for standing still.

That is in Shanghai. Why would they take measurements using inches in China? Almost every country except the US uses the metric system.

They sorta play the same position. Even if PG went to SG there's this other guy named DWade. I don't see it happening anytime soon, at least for that reason.

PG's favorite player is Kobe Bryant, not Lebron. And I think the relationship he has with Bron' is a good thing. In most cases, a superstar like Lebron is only taking a younger player "under his wing" if they feel they have the potential to be pretty good. Hopefully PG took the opportunity to workout with Lebron, and see the hardwork and dedication it takes to be good.

It can also serve to be a HUGE confidence booster hanging with the King... I like it...

Is my memory serving me right that Danny was hanging with superstars a little bit at similar events right before he blew up? Or maybe I'm thinking of JO?

LOL! I thought the same thing when he dribbled it off his leg around the 15 second mark.

Lebron was loving it though wasn't he? Good to see Paul getting to hang with a winner like Lebron (no sarcasm at all).

That dunk is way more insane than it appears at first glance. I'm not sure i've seen anyone else do the reverse 360 between the legs before. George isn't as graceful as some of the all-time great dunkers, he doesn't "float" since he is so tall and so long, but that Dunk would be a perfect 10 in pretty much any dunk contest and would win most of them.

The exposure is great too, I wouldn't worry about James influencing him, I actually like that he's hanging around players that have won it all, and we will have the resources to easily resign him once his rookie deal is up anyways. JO and Danny and Reggie always hung/hang out with superstar players too. Associating with the best drives a player to strive to be the best.

I think George will have a huge season next year. Our offense, at least among our starters is arguably the most balanced in the NBA, and we don't play anyone major minutes, so he may not score as much as he's capable of, but I could see a 14-15 ppg 7-7.5 rpg 3-3.5 apg 2 steals .7-1 block per game season out of him, which would be more than satisfactory given the balance of our team.

George is already an easily above average starting 2 guard at the age of 22.

9th in PER
2nd in Rebounding Rate
3rd in Steals per game
5th in blocks per game
Plus even though he has a few weaknesses (chasing shooters around screens) I think we can agree that he's a well above average defender, even this early in his career.

on above average efficiency.

He and Hibbert need to keep developing if we're ever going to beat Miami, and hopefully they can. I think they will, and we'll be substantially improved next season, even if not enough to dethrone the king and his minions.

I'll be honest, when PG does these combo move dunks, I don't really get wowed. I watch them and understand that there's like maybe 30 people on the planet that can do it, but they just don't look graceful and theatrical, I don't know what to call it. That was his problem in the dunk contest, he got too showy and all that, just jump a billion feet in the air, put it between your legs, and hammer it. He can do that in his sleep. Doing a 360 between the legs is much, much harder, but it's just not as pretty. Watch the stuff Vince Carter did. It's "simple" but it's glorious to watch.

Trust me, I owned a Nerf hoop.

I mean, except for David West. Or is he not in the NBA? Or is the Boston market small time now?

San Antonio vs Chicago, and yet Duncan stayed with the Spurs. And there's plenty of other examples.

Funny how a million or two more can persuade guys to pass on those big markets. Paul George isn't going to Miami for $5m when he can stay and start in Indy for $10m.
