They aren't doing it at Bankers Life this year... instead they are spreading it over 5 locations:

Dang, I wanted BLF. Anyways, maybe we can get a group together.

That is kinda strange, and certainly a total break with tradition.

Warning! The following is just a joke: I wonder if they have a horrible player/roster announcement planned for that evening which would upset a bunch of fans, and they are just trying to keep people from wrecking the fieldhouse by having them gather elsewhere?

In any case, it seems odd they have chosen to split the fans into five gathering places. Aren't all of those places bars? I'm don't live in Indy so I don't know. If so, what are the under 21 fans going to do?

it also says "past Pacer players" will be at each location. Does that mean none of the current players will be there? That seems to be strange as well, and also means the Pacers will miss yet another chance to have the players out with the fans. Who cares if Gray or Dreilling are there?

Wonder where Bird and company will be during all of this? Are they tired of getting booed when they announce their pick and/or trades?

Just totally odd.

Just looked into and the Fieldhouse is booked from the 27th to the 1st with Cirque Du Soleil shows.

Whatever. Those Cirque Du Soleil guys are creative enough - just incorporate the draft into the performance.

It feels like this party was a total afterthought by PS&E. I'm sure a lot of planning went into the locations and whatnot, but with the late announcement... It feels like an afterthought!

This is what happens with success. Not all fans are as into draft night as we are when the team is picking at 26. I think this is a nice way to still have it without opening up BLF for a few hundred people. By the way, Brothers is the place I would choose!

I agree pick #26 isn't nearly as exciting as a pick near the lottery to the casual fan. Plus, with the recent success, maybe they feel like they don't need to sell the team as much.

Apparently there are only 5 former Pacers willing / available to meet and greet for the draft night. Otherwise, why limit this concept to only 5 Indianapolis locations? Why not Terre Haute, Bloomington, Anderson, and Muncie as well? A simulcast for those who attend could be a nifty way to unify the fanbase.

That's where I was considering going. I love watching a draft, no matter where we're picking. You never know what could happen, trade-wise, and I enjoy watching it live to compare to my mock draft. And if there's a chance to drink in public while doing this (for cheaper-than-BLF prices), then why the hell not?!
