The wife is trying to open some old (2007) word files that were transfered over when we bought this computer.

She had not noticed before but now these are listed as file type MX

They do not open, rather we get a message asking how we would like to open these and the system makes suggestions as to where to go to get a program to open the docs. I've tried one and nothing happend.

What's going on and how can we open her docs? She needs these right away.

Not familiar with the filetype myself, but a quick google search showed they are MATLAB files. I dont think those are related to Word documents at all.

Edit: MATLAB is an engineering and computational math program, very expensive.
