Random facts:

Most winning tickets are sold at little mom and pop chains, not 7-11's or gas stations.

Also, recently winners have been more in the range of buying "single dollar tickets" not "$100 worth of tickets"

You gotta play to win :)

Keep buying those tickets folks (dirty little secret, I've already bought the winning ticket but go ahead, make my pot bigger!!)

I haven't bought a lottery ticket in 20 years at least. I mention that because I haven't lost in the lottery in 20 years...

Don't ask about blackjack though...

I have a year long subscription and get a play in every drawing.

Not a huge investment, but it allows me to dream

One of the first things I would do would be to buy all of the property that is for sale, from I-70 to US 40 along Mt Comfort road. I'd tear down all of the buildings and re-forest the area.

You can get a subscription? Is that online, or how does that work? I'd never heard of doing that.

I've bought one or two tickets in my time, but that's about it. I just felt dumb and desperate, so I haven't yet gone back for more.

That's halfa billion dollars (before taxes and deadbeat relatives)

I'd have to endow a chair for Conservative Constitutional Studies at IU Law. $50mil sounds about right for that.

I cannot speak for Indiana, but if Virginia you pick your numbers, they send you card stating how long your game is good for (I think you can do 3 months, 6 months, or 1 year).

You can learn more about it here: http://valottery.com/subscriptions/

I'd settle for a suite and a chance to get Bird's autograph on my ISU PE t-shirt.

I finally said screw it and went to buy a ticket through the website a few posts up (which actually takes you to some UK site) and I'm just finishing my registration and as I click to purchase my ticket, it bounces. Says the card declined. My card is just fine, and I'm pretty sure that I enter the information correctly the first time, but I decide to give it a second try. No sooner do I finish doing that, then I receive a website error when I try to go to the next page. I then returned to the front page of the site from which I was going to buy the ticket from, and now there's a message saying that due to the high-volume they're not accepting any more purchases today. Swell.

Actually did an office pool just for this one time occurrence. Everyone went looking in their cars for whatever change they had on them. Haha. All in all, 6 peeps scraped together $8 in change.

Nice.

Maryland is the only state to announce so far.

We will not know about others until the lottery officially announced it this morning.

I ended up matching three numbers and the mb on one line, which is a nice $150, but so close to adding a lot of zeros to the end of that...

Three Maryland public school system employees won a share of the record Mega Millions $656 jackpot, lottery officials announced Tuesday, ending a mystery that involved a McDonald's employee who claimed she had the golden ticket.
Maryland Lottery Director Stephen Martino said the employees, who will remain anonymous, will each receive $34.997 million after taxes. The trio bought a total of 60 tickets at three different locations throughout the state, or a total investment of $20 per person for the $218.6 million portion of the grand prize.
