Nuggets Waive Ronny Turiaf

The Nuggets have waived Ronny Turiaf.

Turiaf, 6-10, 245, was acquired along with JaVale McGee and a second-round pick in a three-team trade with the Washington Wizards and Los Angeles Clippers on March 15. He played four games with the Wizards this season, averaging 1.5 ppg, 3.1 rpg and 1.3 apg.

I like Turiaf but I would rather see us pick up someone with a lil more size. (height)

Turiaf may be a good pick up for us. If I was Larry, I'd think about it at least.

Assuming that you mean "height" and not "size"....as we have seen with Hibbert....height doesn't matter....what matters is strength and size. Turiaf is very hard to push around inside the paint...he's a solid low post defender, rebounder and shotblocker. For 10-15 minutes a game, he can easily play next to Amundson and Foster in the Frontcourt rotation...and....IMHO ahead of Pendegraph due to his experience. Add in that he's a great locker-room and
bench presense...I am all for going after him if he's available.

What Ronny does is what we need. We need a tough guy who can bring the opposite of what West and Roy bring, at least for the rest of this season. We could give him the same role that Chris Kaman would have had if he had been traded here.

I like Ronny too, but we cant sign every player that gets waived. This isnt Pokemon and we dont have to catch them all.

True, but what other player have we signed after he was waived recently? Seems like everyone has been clamoring for a defensive-minded backup C/PF for awhile.

I'd be surprised if Orlando hasn't make a call to him already.

...oh wait, Otis is still running the show? They're probably going to waive Ish Smith to sign Fisher.

I'm not much of a Turiaf fan but I would hope that any big with a pulse is on Larry's mind because we just aren't very good up front.

I like Turiaf and all, but I'd rather have Diaw. I'll take either one at this point....

Turiaf definately has the experience, but my guess is Bird thinks Pendergraph can handle being the 5-6 Big.

1. What on earth would make someone, even Bird, think Pendergraph is ready to handle anything on the court?

2. If a player is brought in, it should be as a 3rd-4th big not a 5th-6th. We don't stink up front because the guys who don't play aren't good enough.

If Pendergraph is going to play he should be forced to wear his Papa Smurf hat on the court.
