There are few bands for which I have actual antipathy. Generally, if I don't like a band, no problem; I don't listen to them, I don't think about them, carry on wayward sons.

One of the bands that I do have a genuine dislike for is Journey (probably thanks to my brother.) And these I think we just had a Journey moment insurance commericals are killing me. I'm watching the BTT via ESPN streaming and apparently they have to show this commercial x amount of times per hour. I can't hit the mute button fast enough.

Thanks for letting me vent (and apologies to Journey fans/LG33 - nothing personal.)

Well, we're just gonna have to go our separate ways on this issue.

I'm with Dab, hearing Journey makes me cringe and have a mild panic attack, frantically searching for anyway to block out the sound. I'm the same way with that red cup song and pretty much all modern pop country music.

You guys are crazy. I didn't know it was possible to hear Journey and not sing along.

There some **** going on with drunk, sing-along people right now. There's like a civil war going on with drunk, sing-along people and there two sides. There's Biz Markie people, and there's Journey. And Journey people have got to go. Every time "Just a Friend" comes on and people wanna sing along and have a good time, ignorant *** "Don't Stop Believing" people **** it up.

My favorite Journey song is Anytime, love the intro and guitar solo.

Journey is such an iconic 80's band that it will be hard for you to escape them. Best to be good to yourself, rethink your position on their music, and learn to enjoy it. They'll be faithfully waiting for you with open arms when you do.

Find yourself a girl and turn the lights out with a Journey album on and she'll love it. Girl can't help it. You'll be in for some lovin, touchin, squeezin and it'll be any way you want it.

Missed the Journey thread I see. As to the OP I can understand for some the band is a little too sickening sweet for their liking. I on the other hand thought they were quite good in concert and very talented. All were pretty good musicians with Neal Schon one heck of a guitarist, Cain a decent keyboard player, and pretty boy Perry's voice one of the best lead vocalist I can recall.

Fact: Everytime someone plays Don't Stop Believing, I punch a Bulls fan.

Oh wait, that would be a good thing......

(Yes, I hate Journey too)

I like .38 Special better. Journey is good. But yeah.

Do you equate Journey and .38 Special? They're both bands of course, but my perspective is they are two different types of acts entirely. ...But maybe someone who sees them only as nostalgia acts sees them a more alike than different?

Just curious about that..... Never really thought about how people would or do perceive bands 20-30 years past their heydays...

Is it because you hate Journey (Perry edition not Pineta) or because the show Glee ruins about everything in life?

P.S. Part of the reason the older generation liked Journey is they did put on a good show for the rockers and was melodic enough you could take your wife/girl friend and they would be happy too. Try taking a female to a Peter Gabriel show and you'll know what I mean.

All of the above. :) I already hated Journey when Glee came on the air, it just made it easier to justify.:D
