View Full Version : Sunshiner of the Year - Lightning Round!

03-02-2012, 10:02 PM
Good evening, folks! When the Sunshiner of the Year poll, officially closed at 7 p.m. last Sunday, three nominees were tied with 13 votes each. (The other two nominees for the award were Day-V with 11 votes and Foul on Smits with 3 votes) The official rules of the Pacers Digest Forum Awards call for a run-off vote in that situation, so here we are. This is the Sunshiner of the Year lightning round, where points worth double!

Kemo is the man, we can lose a game by 40 and he always finds ways to be positive, as the 2012 darksider I endorse Kemo ;)

I absolutely LOVE the fact that we have to hold a "Who is the most irrationally optimistic person on this forum" Overtime period.

Oh... and :gopacers:

lol yea...

But you know what?

I'm proud to be overly optimistic having faith in our players and coaching staff..

Maybe our guys need to read a little MORE optimism on Pacers Digest and see some faith put in them from their fans..

For being 22 and 12, I sure wouldn't know it from reading alot of posts on here... lol
One would think we were 12 and 22 by the way some people act..

I'm being serious..
If you were Roy, Danny or Darren, and you visited PD often (when time allows)...
What would YOU think, if every time you came here one of you were constantly being either b*tched about, in a trade rumor, or you or your teammate was the scapegoat of the week? lol

I mean I could see it more if this were a realgm, espn or etc forum, but this is a dedicated unofficial PACERS forum..

Ya know...... it would be NICE to see some praise and/or positive threads/posts for our guys to read on here a little more than is being shown.. to show appreciation for their hard work ..

Maybe I just expect too much? lol

No I absolutely agree.

When we play a game and STINK up the place (which has certainly happened, even recently) I will be the first one to jump on a thread and say so. But we also have to remember that at the end of the day, we are fans of this team (I should hope!) because we love the team and what they represent to us in our day to day lives.

I know with 100% certainty that the Indiana Pacers have had a profound impact on the person I am today. I would not trade that for anything. So yes, sometimes I am not thrilled with how they play, or treat certain on/off court situations. But dangit, this is MY team that I've spent 20+ years riding the rollercoaster with. I am willing to look at the big picture even during tough times.

If I wasn't willing to do that... Why bother? Why should any of us bother?

I'm happy that these guys are our Sunshiners :)

The run-off voting period is officially over.

Congratulations to the new Sunshiner of the Year, Kemo!

The official tally is as follows:

Kemo - 18 votes (40.91%)
TMJ31 - 15 votes
90'sNBARocked - 11 votes

I would like to extend my congratulations all three of our Sunshiner finalists, 90'sNBARocked, Kemo, and TMJ31, as well as the other nominees, Dav-V and Foul on Smits. Especially after last night's tough loss in Chi-town, this board needs all the sunshine you can muster. In my personal view of this award, a Sunshiner is a person who best understands and appreciates the value of professional sports - as a form of entertainment. They might be overly optimistic about our team's chances, but - and this is the most important part - when the team does disappoint, they still manage to have fun and enjoy the experience. As I've said previously, I aspire to be a Sunshiner. And Kemo has set a great example to follow.

I think after last nights debacle , some of my "sunshine" seems very clouded :(

Congratulations are in order to my close sunshiner allies....TMJ31 and 90'sNBARocked in bringing positivity to this forum .... and for running a hard-fought battle alongside me vs the darksiders ,trolls, and neo-realists of PD .... lol

From the looks of it, per the o.p. , the thread voting shoulda been closed already thus securing my victory as supreme sunshiner ... lmao ...

All playfulness aside , I would gladly share my narrow victory
with TMJ31 and 90'sNBARocked this year.. for all the crap we get for believing in this team, our players individually, and this Pacers organization as a whole.. I think we all 3 deserve the award..

haha , on a side note .. it would be kinda cool if some of these PD awards were sponsored by the Pacers organization .. and we all 3 got tix to a home game and got to appear on the jumbotron displaying Pacer's sunshiner fans of the year award winners .. lmao
