I am watching TV and they just broke in with the news that a framework of a deal has been met for a new arena in Sacramento. Mayor Kevin Johnson is talking right now. It looks like the Maloofs will be putting in about $70 million dollars. A large majority of the money is coming from privatizing parking.

Kings should be staying in Sacramento, and I am happy we are getting a shiny new arena. The city council still needs to vote and approve it, but that shouldn't be a concern from what I've heard.

The city and the Kings have reached the framework of a deal to build an arena and keep the Kings in Sacramento. Team co-owner Gavin Maloof came out of negotiations in tears to announce that the team has made a long-term commitment to Sacramento. More to follow.

Wow. That's a helluva lot of parking.

Worst NBA week in Seattle.

I'm happy the Kings are staying in Sacramento, not happy the Hornets are staying in New Orleans.

Kevin Johnson says "framework of an agreement going forward" to keep team in Sacramento. "I want to jump up and down."

sam_amick: Johnson: "It's game over, so our community should be really excited." Maloofs contribute upwards of $70 million.

Heck yea! This should soften the blow of leaving Indiana for the Sacramento area and not being able to attend many Pacers games.

I'm really happy the Kings are staying here. They have a great, passionate fan base here. Also, a new arena is going to be pretty awesome.

Gonna edit in a link in the OP.

Its always sad to me to see a team leaving a city, so for them to be staying is pretty awesome. Congrats Sacramento

I'm moving to the Sacramento area. I currently live in the Indianapolis area. I didn't want to drive to Oakland just to attend an NBA game. Of course I'll drive when the Pacers are there, but I gotta get my NBA fix more than twice a year.

I thought the Maloofs would have tried harder to move the team to Las Vegas. Anaheim never really made sense to me. Neither does Sacramento.

Woo hoo another Pacers fan in SacTown!

Pretty sure David Stern shot down any chance of a team in Las Vegas any time soon. And the Kings were in Sacramento before the Maloofs bought them.

That arena looks so badass. Love the week for Sacremento, just disappointed that the Hornets aren't moving to Seattle.

I thought Maloof's were in debt after the financial collapse of their hotels and casinos in Las Vegas. I could be misinformed though, anyone else have any idea where they are getting 70 million from ?

Awesome, thats great for Sacramento. Now if only Oakland can upgrade their arena... it's a pretty pathetic place to watch basketball compared to the fieldhouse.
