D.J. Augustin for Tyler Hansbrough – who says no?

Bryan: The Bobcats say no… Unless Charlotte also gets a first round pick and
ships out some unwanted baggage (Diop, Thomas, Etc.). I still think the best
option for a trade partner is the Lakers. They desperately need a point guard
and I doubt they’ll worry about giving up their high-teens to low-20s first
round draft pick for Augustin.

Mathew: PACERS. To me, Darren Collison and D.J. Augustin are almost carbon
copies of each other. Therefore, it wouldn’t make much sense to bring in
another PG who really doesn’t provide an upgrade at the position. Also, the
Pacers know they could get more from the Bobcats in exchange for
Hansbrough given the value he would add off the court (buzz/ticket sales).

Brett: PACERS. Same reason as Mathew – D.J. and Darren are too similar.
When I first thought of this trade earlier in the season, D.J. had better
numbers, but they’ve dropped recently.

Indiana has crushed the Bobcats in both of the prior meetings this
season – any reason tonight is different?

Bryan: Man, my legs are weak and I can barely lift my arms… Gotta push
through, though. There’s absolutely no reason the outcome will differ tonight.
Kemba plays well, but it won’t be enough to keep the game within 10 points
after the first quarter is over. Pacers cruise.

Mathew: I expect a better effort out of the Bobcats – but not a win. The few
days off they were afforded should help their legs and hopefully in turn their
productivity, but despite their recent struggles the Pacers are still a
legitimate playoff team with size – a factor the Bobcats have been unable to
counteract this season.

Brett: The win in Toronto provided some optimism and the crushing loss to
the Pacers took it right back. With two big losses to the Pacers on the year,
Gerald Henderson still out, and little consistency from most of the team, I
don’t see this game being close either.

CONTINUE READING AT QUEEN CITY HOOPS (http://queencityhoops.com/blog/2012/02/22/game-preview-pacers-at-bobcats/)

Our FT shooting is problematic in the last couple of games. We have to work on this during the ASG (although working on fast breaks is more important).

roy following biyombo out past the 3pt line has got to be one of the dumbest things i've seen all year why don't they fix this? we've already established darren sucks at defense I'd rather roy be down there in the paint waiting for him and let biyombo try and take anything that isn't a dunk.

I know, Danny gets a pass for everything here. I never get that. Granted, I think some folks just look to view him critically, but the signs are there, have been there for a while. Fans want to ignore them, and I get that. But he's not a smart basketball player, he's not a full-effort basketball player and he's not a leader.

Hibbert looks pissed.

Dr. Hibbert
02-22-2012, 07:29 PM
Lack of leadership really hurts this team, though. Nobody wants to really step up and be the man. Hibbert tries sometimes, tries to hold others accountable for their play, but is too mentally-inconsistent to be a true leader. Granger just isn't leadership material. West, Collison, George, Hansbrough...forget it.

And Vogel is just too green to be a great leader as a coach. Hey, that's understandable, though. There is no perfect coach, and Vogel still has much to learn.

Johanvil
02-22-2012, 07:29 PM

So, in order to keep every folk here happy we have to lead the score every night against every team?

Isn't a team allowed to have bad quarters or even bad games without being a "sucking, lottery team"?

gummy
02-22-2012, 07:29 PM
I tire of this version of the Indiana Pacers. I know we can come back and win, and probably will. I can accept some amount of offensive difficulties. I cannot accept this ******** defense. Collision started off this season playing much improved defense and he needs to get back to that. Same with Danny, though he hasn't slipped quite as far as Darren. Roy and PG are still getting it done on that end for the most part but even they have gone through some patches where their defense is bad (during the losing streak). We can cover for West's lack of mobility laterally if the other guys are clicking defensively.

Coach Vogel, please bring back the team that played top notch defense, even if that means they can't run on offense. We seem to have a special talent for botching fast breaks anyway, so I am not sure that we'll miss those transition opportunities as much as we miss DEFENSE!

Ownagedood
02-22-2012, 07:29 PM

The leadership problems could not be there even if we were ahead.

However, a lot of people tend to be way too dramatic and overreact when their team is playing bad. Pointing out why the team is playing bad is ok. Outright saying that the team sucks in general is stupid.

When he hits his first jumper, he always plays good.

BLOCK THE **** OUT SERIOUSLY

You cannot block out a guy coming off the baseline. What you can do is to deny him to re-enter the paint and go to the rebound with two hands. If he tries to tip, he is gonna foul you.

So, it is more a matter of concentration and awareness than a matter of blocking out.

That said, we do suck in block outs most of the time :p

We're being a bit cavalier on the boards, but we're handling them fine.

It's really pretty simple, when he's shooting well, he gets more shots.

Today he's playing well because he's hitting the midrange shot. He really needs to work on it and get better and more consistent, and it'll open up the paint for him, and cause defenders to bite on his shot fake.

I was referring more to his point about the "improve the offense" deprogramming that had Tyler looking for the pass more than his own shot. I was not referring to his point about Tyler scoring more when he gets more shots. Although, I don't believe that he is 100% wrong there either. Tyler needs confidence and he is certainly getting more when we go more to him.

Vogel should continue doing what he did tonight.

He gave lance a few minutes with the starters, and had the second unit be AJ/Hill.

We can still fit him in the rotation for his development minutes. But it seems like we've actually got a pretty good second unit with AJ, Hill, Dahntay, Tyler and Lou/Foster.

Lou, btw, is playing really well.

And, this game, Tyler's shooting well and AJ and Hill really aren't. I'd guess there'd be more times when at least two of the three are shooting well...and that unit is really good defensively.
