View Full Version : Time to give the Steelers their dues

What a season it has been so far for Pittsburgh. Defeating two previously-undefeated teams two weeks in a row (an NFL record [for a team being at least 6-0]).

There aren't any excuses for the Eagles; the Steelers just played a much better game. The same went for the Patriots last week.

Jerome has still got it, and, Jay, I have half a mind to bring back my old "The Bus" avatar just for the occasion. (But I won't because its file size is outrageously huge. ;) ) He looked like his former self, and it was a thing of beauty. The offensive line was simply amazing.

Big Ben showed more poise this week, and the defense looks good too. I'm a little worried about special teams, what with a missed 21-yarder, bad punt returns, and a KO OB. But overall, it was a fantastic game for a Steelers fan to witness. Even got to see the 1979 SB Champs hanging out and being honored at the game.

We did in a thread obnox started and I can't seem to find it.But yes they have played very well and I am happy for them.I am happy for Big Ben especially. They beat the defending SB champs and then went and beat the 7-0 Eagles. They look good if only I could say the same with my Ponies :( I think the Colts can get back to their old self tommorow because the Vikings are a good team but they are Moss-less and we are a very angry Colt team and I'm sure they are too after being blown out at home. But I think we can win or at least I hope :shudder: Lets go Defense lets go!! :shudder:

Yeah I posted a thread earlier giving the Steelers much respect, but it appears the forum God has once again gotten hungry and devoured a post.

The Steelers are a solid team in all phases of the game. Must be nice.

The Steelers are very good and are probably the best team in the league. I picked the Steelers to win today even though my heart was with the Eagles I saw some slippage the last couple of weeks from the Eagles and the Steelers are perfectly suited to dismantle the Eagles.

The Eagles have struggled the last couple of seasons against teams who are willing to stay committed to the run and play smashmouth football. Two years ago in the NFC Championship game Jon Gruden played that style with Mike Alstott and dominated the Eagles; late last season the Eagles gave up 200 yards rushing to A. Green in a game against Green Bay. This season teams haven't been able to play that style because the Eagles have jumped out to huge leads forcing the other teams to pass but I was pretty sure the Eagles were going down today.

The Steelers remind me of the old school Joe Gibbs Redskins teams that smashed it down your throat and dominated the time of possession. They're a fun team to watch and I tip my hat to them they just flat out dominated the Eagles. I just hope if the Eagles get to the Super Bowl they won't have to face Pittsburgh because that matchup doesn't look good. :(

Don't let the soft schedule fool you, the Steelers are playing Bill Cowher/ Dick LeBeau style football, and if everyone stays healthy then they are a force to be reckoned with. Even if they split the next two (and both are at home, so its likely that they'll win both), I'll be content with 6-2 at the halfway mark.

Likely they'll win both? Good lord, try to be objective ONE time about the Steelers.....

Well, they made the first one look awfully easy. Although I'll admit the more difficult of the two-game test is next weekend.

I'm pretty sure Btown doesn't want to talk to me about football today.

Jerome looked good, but *I* could've gotten 100 yards rushing through some of the holes that Alan Faneca and Jeff Hartings were opening. :o

This week, I think Farrior is the best LB in all of football. :p

Am I the only Ponies fan here who still dislikes the Steelers?

Never forget 1995...

How can anyone NOT like Hines Ward?

He's awesome, to say the least.

Yeah, but we don't play the Colts often enough, and you don't beat us often enough, for that to be an interesting rivalry.

For selfish reasons, I was hoping Indy would get into the AFC North instead of Baltimore.
