Uh... might want to revisit Contender/Pretender and update that thread. :o They look friggin awesome after the first 3 games. Best offense and good defense so far.

Them and Utah look good so far. Memphis and Denver look bad.

Phoenix looks scary...they are very good.

They are loaded with offensive weapons...and Amare is becoming a BEAST underneath the net. Add the athleticism of Marion, the passing of Nash, the outside shooting of Quentin + Johnson.......

I think this Phoenix team may surprise people come playoff time from what I've seen thus far.

Are they better defensively than Dallas? If they aren't, then they are the same...

Dallas is a balanced team now. They like to run, but they rebound and defend too.

Phoenix just likes to outgun people.

They are way better than Dallas was defensively. Dallas could not cover up for Nash, but Phoenix can. Dallas had Dirk, Finley, Shawn Bradley, Nash, Walker, Jamison, etc. wheras Phoenix has Nash than good defenders/great athletes Stoudamire, Marion, Richardson, Johnson, plus a stiff in the middle. It's really a world of difference...

The Jazz also look awesome. The Boozer/Kirilenko combination is really something else. The way Boozer is playing right now, the Cavs should have had LeBron take a backseat and made Boozer the face of the franchise. Seriously.

Not sure about the whole Lebron taking a backseat thing, but seriously, Andrei Kirilenko is a top 5-10 player in the league.

He's AVERAGING 7 blocks a game in the first 3 games. :o:o

Until I watch these teams play a few games, I have no idea. But the Suns scores look impressive. But strange things happen in November. A lot of teams that end up being championship contenders struggle in November and vice versa

Phoenix is fun to watch...so many weapons.... Its hard to say how good the defense will be, this early in the season.... They have been creating alot of turnovers and keeping opposing FG% down.... which is a good sign... and there rebounding is solid... especially offensively. But they haven't played anyone with a real interior presence, or a stingey defense yet.

Amare is already at... or close to... a J.O. / Rasheed level...plus he's a freakish athlete without the wear and tear on his body. He's already got a silky smooth and reliable 15-18 footer... on top of his overpowering interior game... plus he can create opportunities for himself off the dribble.

I keep calling Joe Johnson the poor mans T-Mac...but really that isn't good enough for him. He's got a point guards ability to dribble and create in traffic and either finish with a floater...which at 6'8" nobody is gonna block .... or find the open man. And does it all with seemingly little effort. Plus he's 6-12 from 3pt range...can shoot off the dribble or post up....is a great passer, rebounder and solid defender. Phx should have extended his contract over the summer....because it will be costly come next when he's restricted.

Nash was the perfect point guard for this crew... he sets the pace and is definately the floor general out there....he makes everybody so much better.

This all allows Marion to do what he does best which is get up and down the floor and finish... pick his opportunities to score in the halfcourt (not force anything)...hit the boards like a power forward and play shut down defense.

Q. Rich could average 16 pts a game off the bench and spot starting depending on matchups. He brings quite an athletic, shooting, rebounding punch off the bench.

In the middle Voskhul, Vroman, and Lampe aren't world beaters... but they're scrappy and they run the floor. Think Foster... but not quite at Jeffs defensive level.

phoenix looks only looks good because of thier schedule. look at who they played so far: the hawks who lost every game they played so far by an aveage of 25 points. the 6ers, and the nets who don't even have kidd in the line-up.

thier next two games are easy too. now the raptors on the other hand have beaten very tough opponents: detroit, houston, portland.
