The Pacers likely won't add anymore players to the roster before the start of the regular season.

Of course they could change their mind and resume looking for a scorer if they can't make jump shots again tonight vs the Bulls

Not surprising. We still have time before the deadline if the scoring becomes a big problem.

So I guess the Michael Redd visit did not go well?

So I guess the Michael Redd visit did not go well?

Redd no longer has it anyone who watched him last year would tell who he should retire. He is a very bad player at this stage of his career.

If we are going with an old shooter im sure Reggie Miller is a better player at this point in time the Redd.

It is sad because he was a hell of a player when healthy but his knees are more than just shot they are toast.

Someone on the bench is going to have to step up and bring some scoring from the perimeter.

Not you, Dahntay. Go sit back down.

Great chance for Lance.

I don't trust Wells.

Brunner said today on 1070 he thought we would add more scoring at the wing postition. This makes sense considering we were looking to do so before we traded away a wing.

Trade deadline could bring a bounty too, maybe, if needed.

Redd played a total of 61 games in the past three seasons. He isn't the answer to anything.

At least we have Kobe 2.0 off the bench for us.

Did he offer any possibilities? What wing players are still out there that would be worth adding right now?

I am ok going into the season with what we have. If we continue to have the shooting night that we did last game maybe 10 games into the season, then yes we need to look for that scorer.

I trust Wells more than Conrad.

Hopefully it's true. We should see what our roster is made of.

Affalo got paid big time in Denver.

If JR Smith gets released from his team in China would the Nuggets have the money to bring him back?

Or.... do the Pacers have enough coin remaining under the cap to throw him a large enough deal to bring him here?

Keep those 2 spots open. There will likely be movement before the trade deadline. Our roster spaces and cap room will allow us to pick up a much needed player or two...hopefully more draft picks.

That means more minutes for Lance to prove himself. More minutes for Hill and PG (YAY!).

It'll be good to go with a 9 man rotation. Paul plays more minutes at both SG/SF.

I can't imagine Vogel continuing to play Black Hole.

Let our current boys play and learn.

Let's not clog up the roster with retreads and borderline talents.

Just not worth it this early in the season.

Noone game changing available anymore.

No possibilities offered.

I would think the staff thinks Lance can fill in okay at the role that they thought Crawford would play/groom Lance to be?

I like this mode of thinking.

I am probably in the minority here but

I think Dhanty Jones is a lot better basketball player than given credit for here

The DJ that showed up in the playoffs last year I would take on my roster anytime

I think this will be a breakout year for DJ and his scoring and attacking the basket will do wonders off the bench. He is a solid defender who had career numbers last year. He can play, and he soesn't have the "deer in the headlights" look

I like DJ, but he'll try to do too much on offense. I think with Tyler coming off the bench, that won't happen as much. Just need to define guys roles a bit more. I think too often, guys will just stand around on offense and are a bit passive, so DJ takes things in hand. Again, with JOB out, hopefully that won't be an issue.

I don't think we could get JR Smith but who knows.

I don't think JR would fit in with what we're trying to build here personality-wise.

At this point we have to hope Stephenson improves and takes over the backup SG spot.

I say start Paul, but rotate him out early (get a few minute rest) and then run Paul SF with Hill PG, Lance SG Hans PF Foster C/ Lou C in the 2nd unit. This would give some 2nd unit scoring, floor seperation. Then run Dj when first unit comes back in with PG getting rest. With Granger, West, Hibbert, Collison on the floor, DJ should be kept in check. DJ does play good defense and if he is in the 1st unit then he can be utilized better. jmo

the backup PG/SG spots are really going to be interesting. can't wait to see what vogel does with them. with lance, hill and AJ all being combo-guards of one type or another, they make for lots of choices and blends of skill sets.

fwiw, i expect this PG/SG thing to grind through until the middle of the season before the pacers have a consistent backcourt rotation.

It really is a shame that J.R. Smith is such a knucklehead. His skillset would come in handy as a bench player.

If we get the Dahntay that played in Denver, sure. He was opportunistic on offense, and had a mean streak on defense. The Indiana Pacers version of Dahntay thinks every time he touches the ball is an opportunity.

I agree, and I like Dahntay too.

With the whole second unit, I think shot selection is going to be a key. This unit is going to hustle, but won't be the most talented group in the NBA. With that situation, we can't have Dahntay, Lance, A.J. and Tyler firing up questionable shots, which any of them are capable of doing, and stopping the flow of the offense with too much one-on-one play. Vogel needs to demonstrate that he's willing to sit anybody down who doesn't play team ball.
