:( He goes to play for the Lakers, and all this hate shows up. MAC is still my favorite non-Pacer, so I'll call him whatever he likes. He's not just a good dunker, he has decent handles for a 4/5, has a great sixth sense for passing, and he could be a decent shooter by this year. I'm kind of glad we won't be playing the Lakers in Indy, just because I don't know if I'd be able to handle the "boos" when Josh is announced.

This works both ways. The reason many people defend him is because he catches a ton of unfair smack.

Has been that way since the day he was traded here. Everyone said he was a scrub who would be out of the league, the Lakers disagreed.

I agree with that when he was first traded here he got some extreme hate, but that had died down quite a bit, if not completely. Most the gripe with McRoberts are legit now. Reading numerous posts saying we are going to miss Josh this season when we have added david west and an improved Tyler is just silly. Josh is a nice player, but no one should be rejoicing in signing him or saying we will miss what he brings. He would get minimal minutes here, pendergraph and admundson will fill the "void" nicely.

And he knows it. I asked him specifically if he could just accept that it wasn't going to stop. At the time (last April) he had a laugh about it. He also signed my "McBeard" jersey (overdue for a return btw).

I get that McBob is corny, but Mac is lame and on top of that he's sitting on gold if he just goes for McLob, or if the Lakers just start calling all his oops dunks McLobs for McBob.

Turn into the spin Josh, go for something outside the norm and stay ahead of the pack.

Luckily my love of all things Roy and Paul are there to curb my frustration. Love adding Hill, love adding West, love how Vogel has found Tyler's role. The Pacers have a lot to offer...but it could have been just a bit more.

I don't see how anyone can watch him play and not love his feel for the game. With respect to his passing, handles, talent and athleticism, he could be a Worthy type tweener.

On the other hand, I don't see how anyone can look at the lack of progress on his mid-range game, back to the basketgame, lack of weightroom results, and aversion to the paint and not want to tear their hair out.

I just prefer guys who play over their talents rather than under them.

The earliest referral to Josh McRoberts as "McBob" that I can find on Google is from a post on an Arizona Wildcats' forum dated March 31, 2006:

GOAZCATS.com - And the AP player of the year is... (http://goazcats.com/forum/showpost.php?p=504104&postcount=22)

"Multiple very good 3pt shooters"? Can you name one of them who isn't JJ? The only one that approaches is Dockery, before his injury. Nelson was ok, but only when he shot very selectively. Melchionni and Paulus were wretched all year. See the 2nd half of the LSU game for an idea of Duke's overall shooting prowess.

In four years, I can't remember seeing Shelden hit an open 3 point shooter out of a double-team. I love Shelden, but he was horrible at passing out of the double-team; and the passes he did manage to make were to players on the weak side of the lane. He simply could not find and hit the open man behind the arc.

And I agree that the offense was too JJ-centric for my tastes. I would have liked to have seen more ball screens for Paulus, more McBob-Shelden high-low, and more low post opportunities for McBob. But I never was under the illusion that this team's best offense would come through making Shelden the facilitator.

Lastly, all of these claims of "bias" in voting JJ NPoY are laughable. Someone please make an argument for someone else winning it, and tell me how that player had a better year than JJ. If an Arizona player had the same kind of year JJ had, he would win NPoY hands-down; and if he didn't, you all would be irate. What a joke.
