Was listening to Bruno on the radio today, and he said it was more likely that the Pacers would be looking for a player who can get his own shot. Outlaw was amnestied today. He wouldn't be in the discussion for a starting role, but as a player off the bench who can get his own shot, he might not be a bad option to bid on. Thoughts?

I'm rather surprised that this thread hasn't received more attention. Many of us agree that the Pacers' overriding need remains another backup center. (I fancy someone young and raw with potential -- one good enough to earn regular-season minutes and factor into our long-term plans, but then to take a seat to watch Mr. Foster come play-off time. I'm rooting for Jarrid Famous to show lots of potential.) After losing out on Crawford & Mayo, the team also is wooing Redd as a bargain closer. But amnesty offers unique value to teams under the cap, and Travis Outlaw is a quality backup SF. If Rush is being put out to pasture, then Granger's only backup seems to be PGeorge, our starting SG. One note of possible concern with Outlaw (besides his fractured hand) is that his contract runs for another four years, but locking him in at a great price (<$3.5M?) is something I hope we pursue.

If he can return his shooting back to his Portland days. Look at this FG% decline after leaving Portland. Maybe a new place will help with that.

POR 03-04 .429%
POR 04-05 .498%
POR 05-06 .440%
POR 06-07 .434%
POR 07-08 .433%

LAC 09-10 .400%
POR 09-10 .376%
NJN 10-11 .374%

How can he have 11-12 stats when the season hasn't started yet?

I wouldn't mind taking a shot at him, but it all depends on what TPTB thin k of what we have already. If they think G.Hill will play more PG than SG and Lance is not ready to step up, than they should take a shot at Outlaw to backup Danny. If they think G.Hill will play more SG or they think Lance is ready for significant minutes than they not want to take a shot at Outlaw. I think it all depends on how much time they are planning to play P.George at SG.

I'd love to pick him up for the minimum bid level (or slightly above, I could see Silas with the Bobcats wanting him). - He would be a great 3rd string SF/PF... then try and see if you can flip Rush for a big like Sprieghts.
