lol Rob's on tv
they are talking about how much better PG24 looks shooting the ball.

But if PG really did find his shooting stroke from Fresno he is gonna be deadly. I was shocked at how bad he shot the ball last year Paul is a great shooter but last year he shot terribly I hope he goes back to playing with confidence like he did at Fresno. Really he needs to be aggressive and want to be a scorer like at Fresno because he is.

Clark agree's with me about Lance lol

Danny has been sitting out from some recent practices for being banged up a bit, but he was looking good when he was out there, too.

there is no doubt he can create his own shot that's the strength of his game his great mid range game and vision. He just has to work on playing in an offense and off the ball something he has never had to do that. Ever since he was little he has had the ball in his hand and told to take over. If he learns to play off the ball and without the ball which will be the hardest thing for him he will be really good.

Wasn't it Mark Boyle who said last year that Lance and George are the two most talented players on the roster?

Just from seeing lance play in the regular season games last year, I saw some talent that is very rare for a player. Point guard skills and body size in combo that only reminds me of 1 other player in the NBA currently.

However, I am not counting on Lance at all this season, he has too many things to overcome first. But his talent is undeniable.

Bpump great question lol

I thought in what we got to see of Lance last year that it seemed obvious that his strength was in making passes that few NBA players are able to make. The vision you are talking about is the key to this, of course. I don't believe that creating his own shot or great mid-range game will be his strength, although hopefully they are assets. His strength, I believe, will be in making "holy &#!@, did you just see that" passes that create easy baskets for teammates. I was a doubter of Lance until I saw a few of those passes in games and realized he has a skill that few others do.

I would too, seeing as he did the exact same thing last season with Frank, seems to lack the handles to go to the basket, and doesn't seem to like contact when going to the basket (as in, might miss more layups than TJ if someone is around.)

IMO someone is giving him bad advice. He should have been given, "You're a shooter, learn to move without the ball, come off screens, do the head fake one dribble move" aka..learn to get open and shoot. I think the mistake is made because he's built bigger, athletic, and plays great defense..you just expect that type of player to be able to go to the basket easily. I don't think Rush actually can.

Not sure which thread to post this in, so I'll put it here. This goes along with what I am surprised about. I know West's game very well, but I guess I didn't realize he was considered a tough player, but that seems to keep coming up from people who know him well

http://www.nba.com/pacers/caught_web_indiana_pacers_west_perfect_fit_2011_12 _13.html

Perhaps the highest praise of West came from his former coach, Monty Williams of the Hornets. "There's no situation on the floor that he was afraid of. He's probably one of the toughest guys I've ever met," Williams told The Associated Press on Monday. "He'll be a great mentor to those young guys (in Indiana) and I'm going to miss him. You don't lose guys like David West and just say, 'Oh, well.' "

Do you realize what kind of year Paul George is about to have?

OMFG! You can see this coming a mile away. MIP, surprises a bunch of non-Indy people.

Adding "2nd year Paul" to replace "1st year Paul being yelled at by JOB for 'sucking'" (I saw basically that from 5 feet away) is going to be a bigger addition to the team than Hill or West I think.

It's possible that they struggle as a team to figure out how to make it all work together as a unit, but they do not lack for deep talent.

Even if they go small with DC/Hill they come back with maybe Paul, Granger and Roy and give team's fits with length on defense.

does anyone know where I can find a pic of george standing next to someone so I can see how tall he's gotten? I'd love to see a pic of him now next to granger or something like that.

here's one with hill

George Hill is obviously very happy to be back home and is proud to be a Pacer.

I'm very happy and excited for him.

I met him when he was at IUPUI and he was a nice kid then and looks like that hasn't changed.

Overall, I'm just excited for this team. Very good players and people. What's not to love about this team? Indianapolis is in for a special treat and will be back onboard.

I'm surprised Jeff P isn't wearing #4 and chose #29 for crying out loud.

Who knows how often we'll even he him, but he seems like a good guy for the locker room guy and as a player just to have.

Larry Bird seemed very bummed the Pacers didn't get Crawford in particular. "I'd like to have him knocking down a couple shots for us."

He said u never know but deal not likely. RT @pacerfan4life31: Did Larry mention anything ... whether they're still pursuing OJ or Crawford?

So why did we amnesty posey again?

We could have used him as trade bait as an expiring contract

Uhhhhh ... when? Who was out there looking for expirings?

The cap space allowed us to go after other FAs and does not inhibit our trade stance.

Since we're under the cap we don't NEED a throw-in player with a certain salary that will expire for the other side. We can just take the extra salary on.

best guess, to keep him away from the rest of the team

probable reason, keep a roster spot open.

FWIW, since the pacers are under the cap, no need for a player to trade. pacers can take back 13 or 14 million is salary in any trade. the main need for an expiring is if a team is over the cap or the expiring is a guy that can play.

according to the spreadsheet we are almost 14M under the cap, we would have been roughly 7M under the cap without amnesty to Possey

So why not keep him to maybe use in a trade for a team looking for cap relief or as part of a bigger trade? As opposed to paying him to go away

Why did we amnesty Posey?

1 - Cap space is better than an expiring contract. Teams wanting to trade someone to save money would rather get nothing back, than an expiring contract they have to pay for the rest of the year. So any salary dumps any team decides to make? We're the best option if we want the guy.

2 - Out of respect for Posey himself. He wasn't going to play here, and had no future. Let him move on, and see if he can't catch on with another team. He didn't do anything wrong like Tinsley, or Artest, so why punish him like he did?

Tyler looks pretty thick mostly his arms, not as short as I thought either. I can see the muscle Paul added as well, and you are correct Roy looks much thicker.

Roy looks like he'll be much harder to move out of the post. If that is true he may well break out, it was the single biggest part of his falloff last year.

Supposedly he's taller than West, who is six nine himself.

If he doesn't stop growing we may have to start playing PG bit minutes at PF haha. He's certainly the best guy we have to be guarding the dirks of the world at his height.

You know, he probably is our best defender at the point guard, shooting guard, small forward, and power forward spot.

I know you're totally playing around, but in a tiny way, I'm getting nervous for PG because the expectations people have for him are pretty much going to be impossible to live up to. :)

Everyone looks very good. As is in their body types.

Roy definitely bulked up the right way. Shedding body fat and then putting the weight back on with muscle.

Also, PD has become fond with inches/measurements lately. It's quite pathetic.

Paul George looks like a beast. If he develops his offensive game he should be a nightmare match up for most 2 guards in the league. A guy with the quickness to guard Derrick Rose and the ability to dominate most 2 guards with his size is a scary player.

Yeah PG developing a post game with his height intrigues me to no end. Which shooting guard is going to be able to bother his shot really, and eventually how many huge SF's or 4 men will be able to keep up with his quickness?
