Welcome David! From his wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_West_%28basketball%29#Indiana_Pacers) page:

West is extremely interested in "black history, philosophy and various societal issues" and has been cited by Chris Paul as being the smartest New Orleans Hornets player.[6] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_West_%28basketball%29#cite_note-5)
<sup id="cite_ref-5" class="reference">

West graduated from Xavier with a bachelor of arts degree in Communications. He is also an accomplished musician who plays the tuba (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuba).

He and his wife, Lesley, have one daughter, Dasia,[7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_West_%28basketball%29#cite_note-6) and one son, David Benjamin.[8] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_West_%28basketball%29#cite_note-7)

West also loves to make mixtapes for his teammates, saying that it is a healthy habit that keeps him "in the house and off [his] feet".[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_West_%28basketball%29#cite_note-autogenerated1-1)

West comes from a family of above-average height. His mother, Harriet, is 6 feet (1.8 m) tall (1.83 m), while his father, Amos, is 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m).

West has a Xavier "X" tattooed on his arm which displays, on either side, "My life, my way".[9] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_West_%28basketball%29#cite_note-8) The X is a tribute to his alma mater Xavier University.

Awesome.

Awesome. I'm 6'5" and my wife is 6'1". Maybe we can have a future NBA player. :D

I actually thought that when I married my wife. I'm only 5'10, but my wife is 5'7. Her family is pretty tall. Her dad is like 6'6".

If I get a son that will be 6'3", he could be a great baseball player, and NFL player, or an NBA point guard.

Oh, and welcome to the team David West!

Thank God for a trace that fell threw and for once the Pacers were able to capitalize on it.

Pacers Gains so far this season:

David West - PF (Welcome Aboard! Didn't think we'd land him though)
Jeff Pendergraph - PF
George Hill - Combo Guard

Pacers Losses:

Dunleavy - Signs w/Bucks
TJ Ford - Signs w/Spurs

Eventual Losses:

McRoberts - Still a FA; will likely sign elsewhere :(
Posey - Likely amnesty victim
S. Jones - FA

Re-Acquisitions:

Jeff Foster (will retire a Pacer)

Roster Make-up:

Likely Starter/Reserve

Hibbert/Foster - C
West/Hansborough - PF
Granger/P. George - SF
G. Hill/L. Stevenson - SG
Collison/Price - PG

Bench:

Pendergraph - PF/C
D. Jones - SF/SG
BRush - SG

I like this new direction the Pacers appear to be head. Tough-minded players with tons of potential who will push each other hard to bring their "A" game each night!

Can't wait for the 2011-2012 season to start!!

He's also the 3rd most influential NBAer from lovely Teaneck, New Jersey (in scenic Bergen County!). After Coach Lawrence Frank and...Commissioner David Stern.

Welcome to Indy David West. This is where most players come here with false expectations about living in Indiana and end up staying because of the community.

First of all I want to say welcome the D West. I am pleased that he is coming to the Pacers. I am sure most everyone has noticed a trend with Bird and the type of players he is bringing in. Mature, driven, hard nosed and want to win. I was starting to wonder if everyone was just going to go to the big markets. D West will definitely improve the talent on the Pacers. The beauty of the type players Bird is getting is teamwork will be better and that is a necessity to be truly competetive.
