The spurs offered him a 6-Year $64 Million contract but he rejected it. His agent said he might be able to get better through FA. However, Parker claimed he might accept for $68 or maybe $66.

Is that $2 million really that important?

To put things in perspective, Parker is over a year YOUNGER than Jonathan Bender, and he's already started ona championship team. His best years are WAY ahead of him, so whatever contract he signs now will be a bargain.

dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb

Is an extra $2M worth the gamble of having an ACL this year?

Asked afterward if O'Neal's absence contributed to Charlotte's win, Knight bristled.

"What about Primoz? They didn't have Shaq, but we didn't have Primoz," he said.

The question is not whether he's worth that type of money or not. The question is whether that $2 million is really that important.

Besides, one could argue he has a championship ring because of Tim Duncan. Also, what's the point of bringing up JB?

I think he will get more as a free agent. (unless a new CBA changes the system to prevent it)

Only 29,210 a day. How can you live with that kind of money?:p

Parker is very inconsistent at this point and the jury is still out on whether his flashes of brilliance can be sustained. I only see his highlights mostly but in talking with Spurs fans, if there aren't highlights with TP there aren't any lights at all.

That being said he is risking a lot for $2 million when you factor in the injury potential of a small PG and the potential rule changes of the CBA (four years as apposed to 6). The Spurs are also risking losing a potentially all-star caliber PG for $2 million as well. They do have Brent Barry as a back-up though so they are in the position of power IMO.

Tony Parker is a very mature, expierenced basketball player. He's not gonna improve that much throughout the rest of his career. Not to mention, playing alongside Tim Duncan makes him look better than he actually is.
And even if he can get more in free agency, it wont be much more and it will more than likely come from a crap team. 10.7 million a year to play alongside Tim Duncan and this little ******* is turning it down? I hope he dies.

How utterly classless. Did you not learn ANYTHING over the summer?

Maybe he could get more through FA, but the question he has to ask himself is it worth it, considering it probably won't be THAT much more in NBA-star perspectives, considering he could have a serious injury this year, considering there is someone on the team now who is likely to get his amount of dishes and shots too (Barry) probably taking a little from Parkers previous season statistics. Also he IS playing on one of the absolute elite teams in the league if he doesn't aggree to terms and goes into FA I still think he will sign with SA.
