Not too long ago, Pacers Front Office employees played a few members for Season 2 of Area 55 in a basketball game on the Main Court.

Though the first photo (linked below) says different, PFOL beat Area 55 by roughly 40 points in four 15-minute quarters. Area 55 featured approximately 30 players and was coached by IndyHoya. El Pacero was in attendance, but didn't play. He was nursing an injury.

Thanks to all that played. We'll continue to play pick-up games every couple months, so keep practicing.

I am just upset I was not there because I think I could have gave you a run for your money in a foot race! Don't ever underestimate the power of the MVP!

Was that Grady getting down on A55?

Yup, I think MG played the best game of his life. Fun times had by all.

You and your love for Warren. I guess you just got out of there so that's understandable. MG was killing it! I heard he usually doesn't make all of those layups, because it seemed like he made everyone. MG and his buddy Nigel played on the Area 55 team and we would've lost by 75 if they hadn't helped us. And that's not due to lack of talent on the Area 55 team, but more to do with our Coach JOB aka Indy Hoya and his wacked out rotations.

Would have loved to see what Pump could've done in the 3 Point Contest vs Alan if it had happened before the game when everyone was fresh. Even still, both tied, before Alan got him on the tie-breaker round.

BPump33 was Area 55 MVP of the game hands down. We would've lost by 100 if it wasn't for Bryon. I'll be in the El Pacero Lab next week trying to clone him and his deep Globetrotters 4-point shot... which will also be included in the PFOL rulebook pending review by the Suits.

I will say that RobfromPacers, probably due to his lack of basketball skills, shows more crazy effort than anyone else on the court. By crazy effort, I mean he hacked Area 55 members all game long. Kinda like he was getting back at us for treating him like a substitute teacher last season.

We should all start referring to Alan as "Cherrypick Mowrey". ;)

All kidding aside, it was surreal to play a basketball game on the main court of Conseco Fieldhouse. That was awesome and I totally appreciate the Front Office guys for extending an invitation our way.

I still think getting the next round on video with Pacero on color commentary would be a hoot.

Troy Brickl, Rob Laycrock and Rob's alterego: Knee Pads ... would be the primary focus.

Oh and you can't forget the usual jabs about old age, them also reffing the game while playing, and lack of Pacers ticket sales.

I just want to point out that I was saving the ball from going out of bounds in that second picture and no one else was down the floor yet so I just heaved it at the basket. That is NOT my shooting form. Haha.

Anyway, I'm ready for game 2.

It was fun playing basketball with you, El Pacero. You did a great job sitting on the bench yelling at IndyHoya. I was impressed with your ability to not break a sweat the whole time. You didn't miss a shot or make a turnover. Impressive.

Can anyone give me some info on these games? Is it only for area55 members? or can a P.D'er such as myself or others on here possibly get in on the action??

I played ball back in highschool a bit, and was in alot of YMCA summer leagues back in the day ..

I most definitely would love to play.. I haven't played any pick-up games in years .. but I still practice my shooting at least a few times a week out in my driveway.. lol

I think I could hang with the rest of you all ..

It would be really cool if there was anyone somewhat close to Anderson that hosts some pickup games in a rented gym ..

I know they used to rent the gymnasium out at the UAW on 29th and madison .. Not sure how much it costs though...

Also there is the old Fall-Creek high-school, out in Markleville.. talk about a throwback to the movie Hoosiers.. lol I remember back after I graduated HS , there was a group of guys who used to rent it out at least one weekend out of the month. We would basically bring our pillows and sleeping bags, and play pickup games all night .. When we were done playing for the night, one of the guys brought a 32in tv and vcr , and we would watch horror flicks, and order a bunch of pizzas ..

Was a pretty cool weekend with the guys ..
I remember there ended up being like 20 of us , and we all put in like $20 each which basically covered the rental of the gym from Friday to Sunday... and our grub and drinks for both days/nights ...

Ah the good old days... lol

I'm with Kemo, I'm not part of a55 but I would love to play.

I'm 6'5 and played high school ball and also on the ball state scout team.

I live in Muncie, but i work in anderson mostly so if there is any pick up ball I'd be good with stickin around and running a few games.

Gracias Rob.

They had a PFOL game against PD members a while back. Maybe it will happen again...
