Go figure that it's at least 2 weeks earlier than I recall it often being, for a season which may not even be.

I wish they would spend more time negotiating rather than worrying about the schedule.

According to a league official, one of the two Heat-Mavericks games is being planned for Christmas in Dallas, likely at 2:30 p.m. The schedule will be announced shortly, though labor problems could shorten the season. With Christmas on a Sunday, most NFL games will be Dec. 24 (including Dolphins at Patriots) except Bears-Packers on Christmas night.

Pretty insulting that they won't negotiate but they find the time to put this worthless piece of **** together.

[edit] Though, I must say, it might be funny to watch the TV special and see them try and talk about games without mentioning any of the players.

I hope they play some of the old time NBA "Game of the Week" broadcasts from back in the 1970's at some point in this, followed by some 1980's games, and 1990's games that no one currently on any NBA roster played in. It would provide a contrast to how the game is played (when it is played) currently.

Watched some NBA TV over the weekend and caught an old Celtics Knicks game with Ewing and Bird going at it through the 4th quarter and into overtime. The game was very different - although I always struggle to identify exactly in what ways.

It is a couple weeks earlier than normal, but apparently that is because in the past they held off to see where some of the big free agents were going to sign before finalizing the schedule. No need for that this year, of course.

Brad8888

They pretty much could leave the schedule the same as last year, but leave all of the dates as "TBD" like they do for playoff games.

Knicks to host the Celtics on Xmas day, league source tells me. Provided, of course, there is a season.

I'm guessing that's the early game

Everyone would be complaining about the league NOT making the schedule if the lockout is lifted in time and there aren't any games missed.

Here's the link to our new schedule: http://www.nba.com/pacers/schedule/

Home opener is Nov. 5th vs Celtics. First College Night is in January 11th against the Spurs. Total of two 5 game home stands, one in December and one in March.

Edit: Ouch, 5 game Western Conference trip spans from Nov. 25th to Dec 3rd. It includes 4 games in 5 nights.

Only one nationally televised game - ESPN. @ Portland December 2nd. Wonder why they picked that game.

The traditional game the day after Thanksgiving is our first matchup with the Bulls.

Here is another version of our schedule

We'll have to prove we're worth it. It makes sense to put teams on national TV that national audiences want to watch. Hopefully this is the year that we really create a buzz around ourselves (please be a yyear )

Well, they actually usually schedule the Pacers a nationally televised game at the end of the season and the game is usually fazed out. It's good to see that this game is scheduled toward the start of the season.

Yes for sure. ESPN has a lot of flexibility to change their games. TNT a lot less flexibility, but TNT gets better games

Huh. Guess if they'd show something other than Gametime 8x a day I'd stop changing the channel as soon as a game ends and know that.

Gonna be a rough start (hey it could happen!) it seems. 12 of the first 19 on the road, home games against Boston, Orlando, Chicago, and Portland in that stretch.

I can see the PROMOTE SHAW! posts already.

Or maybe we could lose this part of the season and only play the easier remaining games!

Do they create an entire new schedule if any of the games are missed?

Interesting question. I would guess it depends how many games are actually missed. if a week or two to start the season are missed, I would guess they will pick it up at that point and keep the same schedule and try to either squeeze the games in or just add the games at the end of the season. The reason why they would want to try and keep schedule as is because of arena availability.

But if we lose probably 4 weeks or more, then I would guess they start from scratch

We will have a very easy schedule in the last month if we improve even slightly. We have the Hawks and Heat at home and the Bucks on the road.

Someone asked about whether there would be a new schedule drawn up if games are missed. If significant games are missed, then the league will almost certainly ensure that all teams get an equal number of games within the conference, with out-of-conference games being secondary. B/c in the finals, you still want an accurate representation of the best teams within each of the conferences. Some inequalities will most certainly exist, but the league will try to keep these to a minimum.

January is just horrible, 10 road games, 5 home games. Spurs, Orlando, Boston at home. Going from memory from looking at it earlier today. If you can get through January with even being in the hunt and healthy you s/b in great shape.

If we only miss the first couple of weeks, I think there will be 'some' revision of schedule. I can't imagine the league being ok missing division games, making them best of three with someone getting 2 homecourt games to one (assuming only 1 is missed, don't know if div. opponents in someone's else schedule). But if they don't, we'll miss 2 away games for Det and Bucks. :)
