Boston: Jermaine O'Neal (one year, $6.2M)

The Celtics will be overpaying Kevin Garnett (one year, $21.2M) and Paul Pierce (three years, $47.4M) at the tail end of their careers, but at least they've earned their dough. If there's one contract Boston would like to be rid of, it's probably O'Neal's. With his shot knees, he gave them only 24 games of minimal production last season. Problem is, the Celtics need him now that Kendrick Perkins and Shaq are gone.

Denver: Al Harrington (four years, $27.5M)

One reason it took so long for the Nuggets to trade Carmelo Anthony? They kept trying to throw in Harrington as part of the deal. It didn't take long for Denver to sour on the trigger-happy small forward after giving him a fat free-agent deal last summer. Now they're stuck with his bloated contract and regressing talents as they try to build a sleeker, less selfish team.

Indiana: James Posey (one year, $6.9M)

Remember when Posey was knocking down 3-pointers on one end and making life tough for Kobe Bryant on the other end during the 2008 NBA Finals? Of course you do, but that's also the last time anyone's seen him do anything significant on a basketball court. Posey left the Celtics that summer for a four-year, $25 million deal with the Hornets, who after two tepid seasons dumped him off on the Pacers as part of the Darren Collison trade. Now 34, he does little but sit on the bench or shoot (and usually miss) 3-pointers.

mehh

Posey is expiring so it isnt that bad. Im sure some contending team will love to have defensive presence like him.

If they have this topic about 3 years ago, I think Dunleavy, Murphy and Tinsley would be battling for the #1 spot

I'm just glad we're finally at the point where the worst contract on our team is an expiring $7m deal for James Posey.

Why would you say a thing like that.....you'll jinx us!!! Watch now, as soon as free agency starts we'll overpay for West and his knee will fall apart in the first game of the season.

Actually if his knee does fall apart, then Pritchard might extend his contract....I kid, I kid.

Relax. Pritchard would somehow work it into a sign and trade where we end up with OJ Mayo for him so we can overpay him instead, while keeping McRoberts and Rush here at the same time. Then, Mayo and Rush can exchange contact for their suppliers, and go clubbin' together like the good old days of the non-milk drinkers that we all long for.

There, is that better?

Yes, thank you....:)

Maybe I should refute your statement for no reason and we can get in a long, drawn out argument.....that seems to be the theme in all the other threads right now.

Yeah, about 4 years ago that would have been one of our better contracts

Let's hope we don't get one of those contracts this off season, I hope Kevyn is advising Bird about not signing players with knee issues.

It's been a while since Posey's been a "defensive presence."

But, haven't you seen the guy take charges!

When Posey was on the Heat and Celtics I wanted him as a Pacer so bad, then I never really watched him much in New Orleans. I knew he'd fallen off a bit when we got him but I didn't realize he was dead weight. Never gone from wanting a guy on my team so bad to wanting rid of him so quickly.

We are in one of the best financial situations in the league. Sacramento is another team in a good position, but they are in the west and they have John Salmons and Francisco Garcia signed to long term deals.

Other than posey who is expiring I don't think we have a bad contract do we? That's pretty cool.

Sorry I don't consider Dahntay Jones a bad contract. In fact I think he is a bargain and brings a lot to the table.

Not a star but he is not being paid like a star either.

If you look at the numbers, aside from Danny and Posey, everyone gets paid pretty much in the same ballpark.

I don't either. I think it's a great contract. I'm just poking at "Stats" Hollinger.

I think it's hard to have a terrible $2M/yr contract, relative to other pricetags in the NBA.
