Hi ya

For those not in the know.....

We at Pacers Digest have a little get together a couple times a year, once during the season & again sometime during the offseason. A casual meet & greet for area Pacer fans.

We will once again have a forum party sometime this summer, however with the coming lockout the date will be pushed back.

Once the owners & players settle their little spat we'll have a date & location to announce!

Keep your eyes open to the top of this page for all the info. In the meantime.... if ya have any questions or suggestions, please let me know.

See ya soon.

Jose

Before anyone calls me Debbie Downer Charles Barkley said today on Dan Patrick's show that he doesn't think there will be a season next year.

Charles Barkley is a big fat joke who is only hired for entertainment.

Let's see the NFL and the NBA not play a season. People would go bananas!

If the NBA were to shut down for a season, I would fully expect to see David Stern AND Billy Hunter both get removed.

I spoke with Bill S & he is willing to serve as host of the next forum gathering.

Dates are still up in the air but I'd like to toss out this info just to get the ball rolling.

August 20th is a possibility, other dates in August would be difficult at best.

September isn't much better with the only option, right now being September 17th.

Thoughts & ideas?

Unclebuck
07-14-2011, 11:08 AM
I'm of the opinion that we should wait until the lockout is over or mid December whichever comes first.

Just my opinion that between now and August 20th there won't anything new that happens either with the pacers or with the lockout.

That is just my opinion

I think the coaching confirmations give us something to talk about, and depending on when talks start (or don't) we might be able to schedule in advance of any progress.

Or we could just have an informal get together without necessarily being caught up in questions for a change.

What are you going to talk about?
George Hill - great Pacer or greatest Pacer?

Lance has gone months without an incident, isn't it about time we named him humanitarian of the year?

An hour of me putting up with random Rush rants. Another hour of my revenge via Tyler rants.

How much should be (over)spend to key Dunleavy?

Oh, I feel we could have a pretty good party on par with the normal level of rancor without even trying very hard.

We had a date & location

Saturday January 21st

With Bill S hosting

368 W Main St
Danville IN 46122

Quick reminder

1. This is a casual get together for everyone that reads Pacers Digest.

2. We chip in $10 to cover the cost of pizza, you can bring whatever you like to drink.

3. I will be bringing pie

BillS
12-13-2011, 08:41 AM
A couple of additional things:

1) Since El Pacero mentioned not realizing it the last time, new attendees should know that, while it is casual, tradition is that we structure a discussion session, usually led by Peck, where we each get to talk about our thoughts on a number of topics. There is usually a thread on PD for folks to submit questions or monitor responses.

2) Anything you say can and will be used against you on PD.

3) Start time looks to be about 5:30 PM - end time is when my wife throws us out.

4) We have a dog, he is very friendly (especially to Unclebuck).

PM me for questions, I'll post directions when the date is closer.

Hicks

I just got back from Atlanta, twice in the last 3 weeks.

And I have to say that I can get from Danville to ANYWHERE in the Indy Metro area, at ANY time of day or night, faster than I can get from the Atlanta Perimeter the 8 freaking miles to my kids' house in Dallas.

You guys don't know how good you have it, even driving from Carmel and Noblesville.

For those who don't know, at the Forum Gathering one participant is judged by the (completely unbiased and incorruptible) moderator to have given the best answer or question during the course of the discussion. That participant is given a prize, often a Pacer trading card or game-worn item.

This year, through the vagaries of the Post Office and with permission from my ST Sales Rep, we have a complete set of Level 4 parking passes to give away - that's all home games INCLUDING playoffs.

Hope that gives you an incentive to show up!

I'll post directions on Friday.

It would make a difference I think. I tend to just look right past the Sticky section.

Shade
01-17-2012, 06:12 PM
The chances of me making this just dropped significantly. The person who was going to switch shifts with me was just let go today. So if my shift gets scheduled for Saturday, I'll have to work it by default. :(

Peck
01-18-2012, 05:43 PM
I am unstickying this and am going to keep bumping this till Saturday so more people will see it.

Please if you plan on coming let us know here so BillS has an idea of how many people to expect. Also in case you didn't see it before there is a grand prize that will be awarded to an attendee that is worth nearly $400.00

BillS
01-18-2012, 06:00 PM
We may also be awarding at least one pair of Club Level seats + parking pass for a game in late January or early February.

Do you mean having some north of the Indy Metro area in future rather than in the area, or do you mean further north this time?

Jose is the one who organizes things (giving him someone or someplace to host in another location would be good), I just provide the space.

That said, if you are coming from Milwaukee the day of the gathering, you must be coming down I-65 and it is pretty much a straight shot south from Lebanon on SR39 to my place. Probably easier than getting to Carmel or Fishers from there.

These little gatherings are very casual.... show up early or late, leave early or late. As long as you swing by and give us all the big hello.

We usually order some pizza & everyone chips in about 10 bucks to cover the cost. Please feel free to bring your beverage of choice.

We will have plenty to talk about with the new players & new hope for our guys. Peck leads a discussion where everyone gives their opinions. Doesn't matter if you've been here from the beginning, posting 14 times a day or a lurker thats never posted before. We're all Pacer fans.

Directions and important info:

368 W. Main St.
Danville IN 46122

(317) 745-4293

Start time - 5:30 (arriving a little earlier is OK)

We have one medium-sized dog. He is very friendly and willing to share his hair. He seems to be obsessed with Unclebuck.

We have a small stockpile of non-diet soft drinks, bring anything other than that you might want to drink. Pizza will be ordered as per usual, and my wife will be unable to restrain herself from fixing snacks as well. Feel free to bring other things but don't feel obligated.

The house number is not very visible, thus the detail in the directions. Google Maps points to the proper location (though the picture of the house is old); I do not vouch for other map services as Danville Main Street confuses some of them for some reason. SR 39 should be finished with construction at this time, so all directions should be good.

From North-Northeast-East-Southeast-South: get to Indianapolis, then
come around to the west side via 70 or 465. Take 465 to exit 13 - Rockville Road
(US 36) (3 exits north of I70). Exit and turn west (away from
Indianapolis, toward Danville/Avon).

About 20 miles later you will reach the Danville town square (courthouse
on left). After second light of square, pass Cross Street (SR 39 South) and
Kentucky Street.

Once you have passed Kentucky Street, look for highway marker sign for
US 36 and SR 39 on right. The house behind it is ours (green Victorian with large brick porch). Immediately past this on the right is a
dual driveway. Pull into the first driveway and come all the way back to
the parking lot behind the house.

Bang on the back door by the deck.

Note: our house is NOT the two-story brick house next to the second of the driveways...

From Northwest: Take 65 South to Lebanon State Road 39 exit. Take SR 39
south about 20 miles. After entering Danville, 1 block before the
stoplight at the junction with US 36 take a left on Clinton Street.

Take a slight jog at Maple Street, then pass High Street and East
Street. The next street is on the right only (Morgan Street).

After passing Morgan Street pass two small houses on the right. You will
then see a driveway on the right that leads past a yard to a parking lot
behind a house. That would be our house, park in the lot.

Bang on the back door by the deck.

From West: Either come in on US 36 until you reach the junction with
SR 39 North. Turn left and go one block, take a right on Clinton Street,
then follow remaining directions for Northwest, above.

OR

come in on I70 to the exit for SR 39 North. Follow SR 39 to the junction
with US 36 in Danville. Turn left on 36 and pass Kentucky Street, then
follow the remaining directions for N/NE/E/SE/S, above.

From South: Either get to Indianapolis and follow directions for
N/NE/E/SE/S (above) or come north on SR 39 to the junction with US 36 in
Danville. Turn left on 36 and pass Kentucky Street, then follow the
remaining directions for N/NE/E/SE/S, above.
