The Rules of Pacers Digest

Hello everyone,

Whether your are a long standing forum member or whether you have just registered today, it's a good idea to read and review the rules below so that you have a very good idea of what to expect when you come to Pacers Digest.

A quick note to new members: Your posts will not immediately show up when you make them. An administrator has to approve at least your first post before the forum software will later upgrade your account to the status of a fully-registered member. This usually happens within a couple of hours or so after your post(s) is/are approved, so you may need to be a little patient at first.

Why do we do this? So that it's more difficult for spammers (be they human or robot) to post, and so users who are banned cannot immediately re-register and start dousing people with verbal flames.

Below are the rules of Pacers Digest. After you have read them, you will have a very good sense of where we are coming from, what we expect, what we don't want to see, and how we react to things.

Rule #1

Pacers Digest is intended to be a place to discuss basketball without having to deal with the kinds of behaviors or attitudes that distract people from sticking with the discussion of the topics at hand. These unwanted distractions can come in many forms, and admittedly it can sometimes be tricky to pin down each and every kind that can rear its ugly head, but we feel that the following examples and explanations cover at least a good portion of that ground and should at least give people a pretty good idea of the kinds of things we actively discourage:

"Anyone who __________ is a liar / a fool / an idiot / a blind homer / has their head buried in the sand / a blind hater / doesn't know basketball / doesn't watch the games"

"People with intelligence will agree with me when I say that __________"

"Only stupid people think / believe / do ___________"

"I can't wait to hear something from PosterX when he/she sees that **insert a given incident or current event that will have probably upset or disappointed PosterX here**"

"He/she is just delusional"

"This thread is stupid / worthless / embarrassing"

"I'm going to take a moment to point and / laugh at PosterX / GroupOfPeopleY who thought / believed *insert though/belief here*"

"Remember when PosterX said OldCommentY that no longer looks good? "

In general, if a comment goes from purely on topic to something 'ad hominem' (personal jabs, personal shots, attacks, flames, however you want to call it, towards a person, or a group of people, or a given city/state/country of people), those are most likely going to be found intolerable.

We also dissuade passive aggressive behavior. This can be various things, but common examples include statements that are basically meant to imply someone is either stupid or otherwise incapable of holding a rational conversation. This can include (but is not limited to) laughing at someone's conclusions rather than offering an honest rebuttal, asking people what game they were watching, or another common problem is Poster X will say "that player isn't that bad" and then Poster Y will say something akin to "LOL you think that player is good". We're not going to tolerate those kinds of comments out of respect for the community at large and for the sake of trying to just have an honest conversation.

Now, does the above cover absolutely every single kind of distraction that is unwanted? Probably not, but you should by now have a good idea of the general types of things we will be discouraging. The above examples are meant to give you a good feel for / idea of what we're looking for. If something new or different than the above happens to come along and results in the same problem (that being, any other attitude or behavior that ultimately distracts from actually just discussing the topic at hand, or that is otherwise disrespectful to other posters), we can and we will take action to curb this as well, so please don't take this to mean that if you managed to technically avoid saying something exactly like one of the above examples that you are then somehow off the hook.

That all having been said, our goal is to do so in a generally kind and respectful way, and that doesn't mean the moment we see something we don't like that somebody is going to be suspended or banned, either. It just means that at the very least we will probably say something about it, quite possibly snipping out the distracting parts of the post in question while leaving alone the parts that are actually just discussing the topics, and in the event of a repeating or excessive problem, then we will start issuing infractions to try to further discourage further repeat problems, and if it just never seems to improve, then finally suspensions or bans will come into play. We would prefer it never went that far, and most of the time for most of our posters, it won't ever have to.

A slip up every once and a while is pretty normal, but, again, when it becomes repetitive or excessive, something will be done. Something occasional is probably going to be let go (within reason), but when it starts to become habitual or otherwise a pattern, odds are very good that we will step in.

There's always a small minority that like to push people's buttons and/or test their own boundaries with regards to the administrators, and in the case of someone acting like that, please be aware that this is not a court of law, but a private website run by people who are simply trying to do the right thing as they see it. If we feel that you are a special case that needs to be dealt with in an exceptional way because your behavior isn't explicitly mirroring one of our above examples of what we generally discourage, we can and we will take atypical action to prevent this from continuing if you are not cooperative with us.

Also please be aware that you will not be given a pass simply by claiming that you were 'only joking,' because quite honestly, when someone really is just joking, for one thing most people tend to pick up on the joke, including the person or group that is the target of the joke, and for another thing, in the event where an honest joke gets taken seriously and it upsets or angers someone, the person who is truly 'only joking' will quite commonly go out of his / her way to apologize and will try to mend fences. People who are dishonest about their statements being 'jokes' do not do so, and in turn that becomes a clear sign of what is really going on. It's nothing new.

In any case, quite frankly, the overall quality and health of the entire forum's community is more important than any one troublesome user will ever be, regardless of exactly how a problem is exhibiting itself, and if it comes down to us having to make a choice between you versus the greater health and happiness of the entire community, the community of this forum will win every time.

Lastly, there are also some posters, who are generally great contributors and do not otherwise cause any problems, who sometimes feel it's their place to provoke or to otherwise 'mess with' that small minority of people described in the last paragraph, and while we possibly might understand why you might feel you WANT to do something like that, the truth is we can't actually tolerate that kind of behavior from you any more than we can tolerate the behavior from them. So if we feel that you are trying to provoke those other posters into doing or saying something that will get themselves into trouble, then we will start to view you as a problem as well, because of the same reason as before: The overall health of the forum comes first, and trying to stir the pot with someone like that doesn't help, it just makes it worse. Some will simply disagree with this philosophy, but if so, then so be it because ultimately we have to do what we think is best so long as it's up to us.

If you see a problem that we haven't addressed, the best and most appropriate course for a forum member to take here is to look over to the left of the post in question. See underneath that poster's name, avatar, and other info, down where there's a little triangle with an exclamation point (!) in it? Click that. That allows you to report the post to the admins so we can definitely notice it and give it a look to see what we feel we should do about it. Beyond that, obviously it's human nature sometimes to want to speak up to the poster in question who has bothered you, but we would ask that you try to refrain from doing so because quite often what happens is two or more posters all start going back and forth about the original offending post, and suddenly the entire thread is off topic or otherwise derailed. So while the urge to police it yourself is understandable, it's best to just report it to us and let us handle it. Thank you!

All of the above is going to be subject to a case by case basis, but generally and broadly speaking, this should give everyone a pretty good idea of how things will typically / most often be handled.

Rule #2

If the actions of an administrator inspire you to make a comment, criticism, or express a concern about it, there is a wrong place and a couple of right places to do so.

The wrong place is to do so in the original thread in which the administrator took action. For example, if a post gets an infraction, or a post gets deleted, or a comment within a larger post gets clipped out, in a thread discussing Paul George, the wrong thing to do is to distract from the discussion of Paul George by adding your off topic thoughts on what the administrator did.

The right places to do so are:

A) Start a thread about the specific incident you want to talk about on the Feedback board. This way you are able to express yourself in an area that doesn't throw another thread off topic, and this way others can add their two cents as well if they wish, and additionally if there's something that needs to be said by the administrators, that is where they will respond to it.

B) Send a private message to the administrators, and they can respond to you that way.

If this is done the wrong way, those comments will be deleted, and if it's a repeating problem then it may also receive an infraction as well.

Rule #3

If a poster is bothering you, and an administrator has not or will not deal with that poster to the extent that you would prefer, you have a powerful tool at your disposal, one that has recently been upgraded and is now better than ever: The ability to ignore a user.

When you ignore a user, you will unfortunately still see some hints of their existence (nothing we can do about that), however, it does the following key things:

A) Any post they make will be completely invisible as you scroll through a thread.

B) The new addition to this feature: If someone QUOTES a user you are ignoring, you do not have to read who it was, or what that poster said, unless you go out of your way to click on a link to find out who it is and what they said.

To utilize this feature, from any page on Pacers Digest, scroll to the top of the page, look to the top right where it says 'Settings' and click that. From the settings page, look to the left side of the page where it says 'My Settings', and look down from there until you see 'Edit Ignore List' and click that. From here, it will say 'Add a Member to Your List...' Beneath that, click in the text box to the right of 'User Name', type in or copy & paste the username of the poster you are ignoring, and once their name is in the box, look over to the far right and click the 'Okay' button. All done!

Rule #4

Regarding infractions, currently they carry a value of one point each, and that point will expire in 31 days. If at any point a poster is carrying three points at the same time, that poster will be suspended until the oldest of the three points expires.

Rule #5

When you share or paste content or articles from another website, you must include the URL/link back to where you found it, who wrote it, and what website it's from. Said content will be removed if this doesn't happen.

An example:

If I copy and paste an article from the Indianapolis Star website, I would post something like this:

Rule #6

We cannot tolerate illegal videos on Pacers Digest. This means do not share any links to them, do not mention any websites that host them or link to them, do not describe how to find them in any way, and do not ask about them. Posts doing anything of the sort will be removed, the offenders will be contacted privately, and if the problem becomes habitual, you will be suspended, and if it still persists, you will probably be banned.

The legal means of watching or listening to NBA games are NBA League Pass Broadband (for US, or for International; both cost money) and NBA Audio League Pass (which is free). Look for them on NBA.com.

Rule #7

Provocative statements in a signature, or as an avatar, or as the 'tagline' beneath a poster's username (where it says 'Member' or 'Administrator' by default, if it is not altered) are an unwanted distraction that will more than likely be removed on sight. There can be shades of gray to this, but in general this could be something political or religious that is likely going to provoke or upset people, or otherwise something that is mean-spirited at the expense of a poster, a group of people, or a population.

It may or may not go without saying, but this goes for threads and posts as well, particularly when it's not made on the off-topic board (Market Square).

We do make exceptions if we feel the content is both innocuous and unlikely to cause social problems on the forum (such as wishing someone a Merry Christmas or a Happy Easter), and we also also make exceptions if such topics come up with regards to a sports figure (such as the Lance Stephenson situation bringing up discussions of domestic abuse and the law, or when Jason Collins came out as gay and how that lead to some discussion about gay rights).

However, once the discussion seems to be more/mostly about the political issues instead of the sports figure or his specific situation, the thread is usually closed.

Rule #8

We prefer self-restraint and/or modesty when making jokes or off topic comments in a sports discussion thread. They can be fun, but sometimes they derail or distract from a topic, and we don't want to see that happen. If we feel it is a problem, we will either delete or move those posts from the thread.

Rule #9

Generally speaking, we try to be a "PG-13" rated board, and we don't want to see sexual content or similarly suggestive content. Vulgarity is a more muddled issue, though again we prefer things to lean more towards "PG-13" than "R". If we feel things have gone too far, we will step in.

Rule #10

We like small signatures, not big signatures. The bigger the signature, the more likely it is an annoying or distracting signature.

Rule #11

Do not advertise anything without talking about it with the administrators first. This includes advertising with your signature, with your avatar, through private messaging, and/or by making a thread or post.

    1 Cleveland Cavaliers (from Los Angeles Clippers)



    Kyrie Irving, PG
    19 years old; 6-3, 190
    Duke, freshman


    The Cavaliers orchestrated an elaborate process to evaluate the optimal way of utilizing their lottery picks. That included discussions about selecting either Derrick Williams or Enes Kanter first overall, in hopes of seeing either Kyrie Irving or Brandon Knight drop to them at four. When it was all said and done, though, the Cavaliers did not have enough confidence in David Kahn passing on Irving at No. 2 to be confident they wouldn’t end up looking silly on draft night. That brings them back to where we all initially started, with Irving at No. 1, which they surely won’t regret down the road.






    2 Minnesota Timberwolves



    Derrick Williams, PF
    20 years old; 6-9, 250
    Arizona, sophomore
    Williams has yet to receive anything in the way of a guarantee he’ll be picked here. We’re not even sure whether it will actually be Minnesota making the selection, but it’s a reasonable assumption. With the Timberwolves asking for "the moon" for this pick, one NBA executive said, it’s been difficult for them to find realistic trade options. That could change once they’re actually on the clock, but for now it looks like Williams will be joining Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio in a Timberwolves jersey.






    3 Utah Jazz (from New Jersey Nets)
    Brandon Knight, PG
    19 years old; 6-3, 180
    Kentucky, freshman
    Utah’s front office has been extremely tight-lipped throughout the process, but most NBA execs think Knight is the odds-on favorite here, while his camp appears to feel the same way. The Jazz have a number of trade options available to them revolving around this pick, along with their other lottery pick (No. 12) and Devin Harris, so we could certainly see some movement that alters things here.





    4 Cleveland Cavaliers




    Enes Kanter C
    19 years old; 6-11, 260
    Kentucky
    Jonas Valanciunas’ contract buyout is close to being resolved according to sources in his camp – a signature is the only thing missing at this point. Unfortunately for him, his team has refused to compromise on its insistence for keeping him in Lithuania until 2012, as we first reported two weeks ago.

    This makes Kanter a much more attractive option at No. 4, as Cleveland would like to see improvement as soon as possible, even if that means taking the less talented long-term prospect.


    The team continues to explore numerous trade scenarios as well. The Cavs still hold a $14.5 million trade exception that gives them significant ability to maneuver on draft night. Don’t be surprised to see the team acquire another pick or a young asset, as they are one of the most aggressive players on the market at the moment.









    5 Toronto Raptors




    Kemba Walker, PG
    21 years old; 6-3, 185
    Connecticut, junior
    Matching up with Josh Harrellson, Joe Trapani, Talor Battle, Malcolm Delaney and Travele Jones, Bismack Biyombo had an excellent workout for the Raptors in New York City, where he showed a significantly better offensive arsenal than he had last week in Treviso, according to multiple sources who were present to see him dunk on opponents repeatedly.


    Nevertheless, Biyombo is still one of many options Bryan Colangelo has here, with the preferred one being improving the Raptors’ backcourt situation. If Brandon Knight is indeed off the board, Kemba Walker appears to be the favorite here, although the team has yet to make any final decisions.





    6 Washington Wizards




    Jan Vesely SF
    21 years old; 6-11, 240
    KK Partizan Belgrade (Serbia)
    Vesely had an average workout in New Jersey on Sunday in front of Wizards brass. He was coming right off the plane after having his flight delayed from Europe. This was a tough situation from his perspective, as he’s not considered an overly skilled prospect. Nevertheless, he measured out well (6-11 barefoot) and was able to show the athleticism that makes him such a coveted prospect. The Wizards are reportedly still high on his talents, especially if Enes Kanter is off the board. He would make an excellent running partner for John Wall.





    7 Sacramento Kings




    Jimmer Fredette PG
    22 years old; 6-2, 195
    BYU, Senior
    The Kings are looking for help at both point guard and small forward, but aren’t in love with anyone in this draft, as they’d much rather find immediate help in the form of a veteran. This pick could be available, with the front office and coaching staff under fire to improve the team as much as possible.
    Fredette could be a good compromise for that reason. He’s one of the most polished players in the draft, and also complements the Kings’ existing roster offensively.





    8 Detroit Pistons



    Jonas Valanciunas, C
    19 years old; 6-11, 240
    Lietuvos Rytas (Lithuania)
    Valanciunas’ inability to play in the NBA next season will hurt him in the draft short-term, likely knocking him out of the top five. Long term, this could be a huge boon both to him and whichever team that drafts him, affording him another year to prepare himself physically for the rigors of the NBA. He will also avoid having to sit out an extended period while waiting for the lockout to be resolved.

    Joe Dumars will need his new owner to sign off on this move first, though, as it will be tough to see a great deal of improvement next year without the benefit of a lottery pick on the roster.





    9 Charlotte Bobcats



    Kawhi Leonard SF
    19 years old; 6-7, 225
    San Diego State, Sophomore
    Leonard is getting strong consideration from most of the teams drafting immediately ahead of the Bobcats, primarily Toronto, Washington and Sacramento. If he did fall to here, he’d fill an immediate hole in the roster, and would likely move directly into the team’s starting lineup.

    It will be interesting to see what adding a new and different line of thinking in recently hired general manager Rich Cho will do for the Bobcats’ long-term plans. The team has a number of bad contracts on its roster. If the Bobcats are willing to sacrifice this pick, it could help improve their cap situation.







    10 Milwaukee Bucks




    Marcus Morris PF
    21 years old; 6-9, 230
    Kansas, Junior
    The Bucks don’t seem to be in love with anyone in the draft where they’re picking, and have reportedly been one of the most active teams on the trade market over the past week or so. They seem to be willing to use this pick to help improve their salary-cap situation in advance of the new labor agreement, namely by ridding themselves of the contract of Corey Maggette.

    If they do keep this pick, look for them to try and find some additional scoring alongside Andrew Bogut, preferably someone who could play both inside and out. Drafting Morris would add toughness to the roster, and he could contribute right away.





    11 Golden State Warriors




    Klay Thompson SG/SF
    21 years old; 6-7, 205
    Washington State, junior
    The Warriors already liked Klay Thompson quite a bit, even before he came into their facility and proceeded to shoot well in a private workout. That’s put him back in the lead here going into the homestretch. The team is also exploring the possibility of acquiring an additional pick later in the draft.





    12 Utah Jazz




    Chris Singleton SF
    21 years old; 6-9, 230
    Florida State, Junior
    Singleton has been moving up draft boards lately thanks to some impressive workouts. He reportedly has huge fans in Utah’s front office. With Andrei Kirilenko entering free agency and unlikely to return, Singleton would fill a need immediately at small forward. He has the added benefit of being able to defend multiple positions, which will help Gordon Hayward get on the floor more easily.





    13 Phoenix Suns




    Tristan Thompson, PF
    20 years old; 6-9, 230
    Texas, freshman
    This appears to be Tristan Thompson’s floor. He’s impressed mightily in every workout, both on the court, but especially off it, where his maturity and outgoing personality have really struck a chord with decision makers. The fact that his coaches at Texas are singing his praises – calling him one of their favorite players ever – surely doesn’t hurt. Phoenix needs an upgrade at power forward, which makes this a good fit for both parties.





    14 Houston Rockets




    Bismack Biyombo PF/C
    18 years old; 6-9, 240
    Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (Spain)
    Biyombo has one of the widest draft ranges of any prospect, starting at No. 5 and continuing all the way to New York at No. 17, where his services might be needed the most. While Daryl Morey and co. don’t appear to be all that excited with anyone in this draft – they’re heavily exploring moving this pick in exchange for a 2012 first, sources said – Biyombo could change their tune if he fell this far.





    15 Indiana Pacers




    Marshon Brooks SG
    22 years old; 6-5, 195
    Providence, Senior
    No player has moved up the boards as fast or as high as Providence’s Marshon Brooks over the past six weeks. Indiana has been doggedly shopping the likes of Brandon Rush and Dahntay Jones for quite some time now, indicating their dissatisfaction with their wing options.

    The Pacers are also heavily involved in numerous trade scenarios and could be active on draft night depending on how things pan out. They seem to have quite a bit of urgency to improve as much as possible in advance of next season, clearly looking to transition to win-now mode.





    16 Philadelphia 76ers




    Nikola Vucevic PF/C
    20 years old; 7-0, 260
    USC, junior
    Doug Collins and 76ers brass have made no secret that they’d like to improve their frontcourt as much as possible on draft night, and have reportedly narrowed in on USC’s Nikola Vucevic as their primary target. The Montenegro native would offer many of the same things as current starting center Spencer Hawes, but has a better body and is a little tougher around the rim.






    17 New York Knicks



    Markieff Morris, PF
    21 years old; 6-10, 240
    Kansas, junior
    This would be a bit of a slide for Markieff Morris, but one that he would be willing to live with once he sees where he ends up. The Knicks are looking for size, athleticism, shot-blocking and toughness, and Morris offers all of those things. He also comes with the benefit of being able to run the floor and shoot 3-pointers in Mike D’Antoni’s system, which makes him an ideal fit next to Amar’e Stoudemire.






    18 Washington Wizards (from Atlanta Hawks)

    20 years old; 7-0, 215
    Benetton Treviso, International
    Washington is not married to this pick, according to reports, and could elect to trade it for a future first, a young prospect and/or cash if the right offer comes along.

    Motiejunas was projected as a top-10 pick not too long ago, but the emergence of other prospects, coupled with a growing concern regarding his deficiencies as a defender, rebounder and all-around competitor, have dropped his stock.

    This would probably be the lowest Motiejunas drops, and while not really filling much of a need, this could end up being a significant coup for the Wizards, or any other team that nabs him here. The Lithuanian is a highly skilled and agile 7-footer with great potential as a mismatch scorer in the NBA. He is coming off a solid season playing at a high level in Europe.






    19 Charlotte Bobcats (from New Orleans Hornets)



    Alec Burks, SG
    19 years old; 6-6, 195
    Colorado, sophomore
    This would be a dramatic slide for Alec Burks, largely because of other guard and wing prospects such as Marshon Brooks, Jimmer Fredette and Chris Singleton making significant leaps up the board. Charlotte would likely snatch him up in a heartbeat and could end up giving him significant playing time considering how depleted their backcourt is. The son of their top executive, Rod Higgins, was Colorado’s second-leading scorer after Burks this season, meaning the team should know everything there is to know about him.

    That is, if the team will be drafting here at all. This pick is reportedly available.





    20 Minnesota Timberwolves (from Memphis Grizzlies)



    Jordan Hamilton SF
    20 years old; 6-8, 230
    Texas, sophomore
    This would be a disappointing drop for Hamilton, who was projected as a lottery pick for most of the year. Questionable intel seems to be limiting his stock, and he hasn’t performed well enough in private workouts to overcome these concerns. This pick may be made for someone else, as the Timberwolves have let it be known that it’s available for the right price.






    21 Portland Trailblazers



    Kenneth Faried PF
    21 years old; 6-8, 225
    Morehead State, senior
    The Trail Blazers feel like they’ve added enough young prospects to their roster over the past two seasons and would like to find someone at this spot who can contribute right away. At this point in the draft, they aren’t going to find a prospect better than Kenneth Faried.
    The team has been looking for a tough and active power forward who can bring energy off the bench. Faried could be exactly what the Blazers need.





    22 Denver Nuggets




    Tobias Harris SF/PF
    18 years old; 6-8, 225
    Tennessee, freshman
    Harris could be drafted much higher than this spot on Thursday, and almost certainly would be had he stayed in school for another year or two. The Nuggets’ front office can afford to be patient developing a project in the event he slides.








    23 Houston Rockets (from Orlando Magic)



    Iman Shumpert, PG/SG
    20 years old; 6-6, 220
    Georgia Tech, junior
    Shumpert’s draft range appears to be absolutely huge at the moment, starting with Phoenix at No. 13 and moving all the way to the end of the first round, where his hometown team of Chicago likes his defensive potential and athleticism. The Rockets don’t have a glaring need for a player at his position but could be drawn to his upside, seeing as how no other prospect really jumps out at this stage of the draft.





    24 Oklahoma City Thunder



    Kyle Singler,SF/PF
    23 years old; 6-9, 225
    Duke, senior
    Oklahoma City’s only real need at the moment is for a combo forward in the Jeff Green mold. While this can be addressed in free agency, drafting a polished and experienced senior like Kyle Singler makes plenty of sense. He can space the floor at both the 3 and 4 positions, will compete defensively and on the glass, and won’t need a great deal of schooling to make the transition to the pros.





    25 Boston Celtics



    Tyler Honeycutt SF
    20 years old; 6-8, 190
    UCLA, sophomore
    With a number of talented wing prospects on the board here, this would be a good opportunity for Boston to nab a player it thinks can help down the road when Paul Pierce and Ray Allen start winding down their careers. Honeycutt isn’t ready to see major playing time in the NBA, but has considerable upside and would be well served being around Boston’s Big Three.





    26 Dallas Mavericks




    Davis Bertans SF
    18 years old; 6-10, 210
    Union Olimpija Ljubljana, International
    Fresh off winning an NBA championship, the Dallas Mavericks are in position to pick a player who may be a couple of years away from contributing. Small forward could become a position of need, and having a talented prospect like Bertans developing overseas on a Euroleague team makes sense considering that roster spots are at a premium for the Mavs.

    Parsons has seen his stock rise significantly over the past few weeks thanks to some impressive workouts. Standing 6-10, he’s one of the most polished and versatile players in the draft, capable of playing as many as three positions. The Nets are fairly weak at small forward and could use another ball-handler capable of passing and making shots from the perimeter.





    28 Chicago Bulls (from Miami Heat)



    Justin Harper PF
    21 years old; 6-9, 230
    Richmond, Senior

    While shooting guard may be the biggest need on this roster, the options here don’t appear attractive. Picking up a floor-spacing power forward like Harper makes sense as none of Chicago’s big men are dangerous from the perimeter.





    29 San Antonio Spurs




    Nikola Mirotic PF
    20 years old; 6-10, 210
    Real Madrid, International

    Mirotic surprisingly elected to keep his name in the draft after telling everyone for months that he would withdraw. Having recently signed a lucrative extension with Real Madrid until 2015, the Montenegrin native is years away from stepping foot on an NBA court.

    Nevertheless, he’s a lottery=caliber talent who harbors NBA aspirations, which could make him a significant asset in two or three years.

    The Spurs are the type of franchise that is willing and able to be patient with a prospect like Mirotic. And they’re also savvy, aggressive and knowledgeable enough with these international situations to know how to get a deal done.




    30 Chicago Bulls
    Travis Leslie SG/SF
    21 years old; 6-4, 205

    Georgia, junior
    The Bulls are telling interested teams they’re unlikely to keep both of their first-round selections, which means this pick could be in someone else’s hands on draft night. They are looking at packaging both picks and moving up, or possibly selling one for cash if the offer is right.

    Shooting guard is the biggest position of need on this roster, and while Leslie doesn’t appear to be an ideal fit alongside Derrick Rose and behind Ronnie Brewer, his athleticism could intrigue the Bulls enough to take a chance on him.

    In a wide open draft like this, there are plenty of players who could hear their name called at this stage. They include Reggie Jackson, Jimmy Butler, Josh Selby, Charles Jenkins, Darius Morris, Nolan Smith, Jeremy Tyler, Malcolm Lee, JaJuan Johnson, Norris Cole and Shelvin Mack

        A lot of interesting slides in this draft.

        I doubt Burks will slip that far, I could see a team trading up to get him before he falls anywhere close to that.

          Maybe, watching the Colorado/Kansas game, his defense was atrocious. He looks long, the right size, nice handles, willing rebounder...but his IQ, effort, fundamentals were just the worse defensively. I can't stress how bad he was on defense. Maybe he can change that, but it was a huge red flag for me.

          If the Pacers take him which I completely don't think they will, I'll hope for this to be a college anomaly, but otherwise, I'd pass.

            I wonder how his defense was in other games this season. I wonder how it was against Georgia, Alabama, Baylor, Texas, Kstate, and the other 2 kansas games...

            I personally didn't see much of his defensive footage.

              Its a good point, I did only see that one game, I think I've read taht his defense is questionable though, along with Marshon's.

              I will say if he played twice as good in those other games, it would still be awful.

                Many of the guys who were asked to carry their teams offensively saved their legs on the defensive end. ITs just what happens in college overall but I like that he has the physical tools to atleast improve were as some other guys are not.

                  The Pacers are also heavily involved in numerous trade scenarios and could be active on draft night depending on how things pan out. They seem to have quite a bit of urgency to improve as much as possible in advance of next season, clearly looking to transition to win-now mode.

                    Agreed, Jimmer was the same, but not like this. I wish people would have saw him get embarrassed by Morningstar. He lost his man on the ball, off the ball, didn't play helpside ever, basically didn't seem to be even trying. I'll stop going on and on since now they'll probably draft him for sure. Maybe it was just a bad game for him.
