You gotta have the 01 Lakers on there, I think. Any team that goes 15-1 in the playoffs and has two top 10 (roughly, at least) all time players at the absolute peak of their games has to be a top 10 team.

They were on NBA TV the other night gm 3 of the finals

Todd Macculloch and that Nets team was awful

that Laker team was so fun to watch

That was the 02 Finals. I was talking about the 01 team that ran through the playoffs with a 15-1 record. But yeah, the 00-02 Lakers group was one of the most special teams in league history. How many other teams have two of the 10 greatest of all time at the peak of their powers?

Those 02 and 03 Nets teams were pretty decent. Kidd should have been the MVP in 02 for transforming the Nets from NBA doormat to championship contender.

Kobe and Shaq are top 10 all time? You can make an argument for that i guess, but you seem certain.

no, you don't. the '01 lakers wouldn't even be top 10 all-time, let alone top 5. also understand that time span from about '01-05 is one of the worst in league history with regards to talent.

Well, in my first post I said "roughly".

They aren't absolute 100% top 10 all time players like Jordan, Bird, or Magic. But you CAN say both of them are top 10 with a straight face I think. I think Kobe's two recent rings put him there, especially considering he will be obscenely high on the scoring list when he retires. And I don't think we've heard the last from Kobe as far as rings are concerned. He was beat up and out of gas after three absolute insane years (3 Finals runs and an Olympics). I think he'll be re-energized next season.

Shaq's career speak for itself and you can certainly say he belongs in the top 10 I think.

But I'm perfectly fine with any list that doesn't have them. I understand that it's not a 100% consensus to have them there.

Is anybody else sick and tired of all these "best ever" lists that seem to always place Jordan at the top? I personally think the '86 Celtics and the '87 Lakers would have destoyed the Bulls. And I am not even getting into the older teams that had 7-8 HOF's on them. This list was almost as stupid as ESPN's 100 greatest athletes with Jordan #1.

the 1996 bulls is overrated. If shawn kemp destroyed Luc longley, rodman.

Parish and mchale will have a feast in the paint.

The 1986 celtics consists of four good passing big men. I think that is still the greatest basketball team assembled.

I don't care to worry about the top 5, but I do know that the 86 Celtics were the best Pro BB team I have EVER seen.

They were simply outstanding. Bird, McHale, Parish, DJ, and Ainge. And off the bench a "healthy" Bill Walton, and Scott Wedman... with Jerry Sichting to back up DJ. Oh and Rick Carlisle played a tad also.

The 83 76'rs and the 96 Bulls a close second.

Surprised to see no love given to the 1972-1973 Philadelphia 76ers.
