Only 11 teams in the NBA have never won a Championship and a few teams that have won, like the Mavericks (founded in 1980), are younger franchises than the Pacers.

What does this mean? Probably nothing but it just got me thinking and wondering, how do the long-time owners of NBA franchises feel when they see another franchise breakthrough and finally win a title?

There was a Pacers reference today among the Mavs win articles. Something to the effect that Carlise could have just gotten his second one if Tinsley and JO hadn't had injuries in 2004 playoffs. Weird to me, I've never thought that.

Miami got one before a lot of teams that pre-dated them.

IIRC, Tinsley had a bad elbow and some issue with one of his legs that hampered his movement. As far as JO, didn't he still have trouble with his shoulder going on and possibly his knees as well due to still being bulked up? I could be wrong about these things, but that is what I am remembering at this point...

It means we don't have a $90M payroll.

And last time I checked, we have 3 championships. Sure, they're pre-merger, but so are the Knicks, Warriors, Hawks, Kings, and Bucks.

At some point the Pacers will get their championship, just like the other teams do. The Mavs are long overdue for a championship trophy because they have been in the playoffs and are a consistent 50-win team for more or less a decade. In a way the Pacers should've won at least one in 1999 and 2000, and also in 2004 and 2005, but just got bad luck of some sorts.

They will win one someday, and I hope to see one at least. They just need to do what championship contenders do...have a good management, draft good young guys and get the right players via draft or free agency, and hire top-notch coaching staff with a strong basketball program.

I hate when we aren't recognized as a team with a championship.

What we did during the ABA days isn't irrelevant. We've been in existance since 1967 and we have 3 championships, 6 conference championships.

The ABA made some lasting contributions to the game of professional basketball but it was a small league that only lasted 9 years . Unfortunately, it will never be taken seriously because of it's very short existence and because only 4 teams were able to merge with the NBA.

Look at the bright side, we still have the same amount of titles as Lebron! :D
