Amid increasing signals that the Philadelphia 76ers (http://espn.go.com/nba/team/_/name/phi/philadelphia-76ers) are finally prepared to deal Andre Iguodala (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/2386/andre-iguodala) after years of trade speculation, another potential swap has surfaced that would send the swingman to the Los Angeles Clippers (http://espn.go.com/nba/team/_/name/lac/los-angeles-clippers) for center Chris Kaman (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/1982/chris-kaman), sources with knowledge of the discussions told ESPN.com.

Although it's believed that the trade has not yet advanced past the discussion phase, sources told ESPN.com that the Sixers and Clippers have discussed an Iguodala-for-Kaman swap.

The Clippers have long maintained that the only scenario that would convince them to part with Kaman -- whose career has been plagued by injuries but who had an All-Star season in 2010 -- is getting an elite small forward in return.

Iguodala's athleticism and defensive skills would figure to mesh well alongside star power forward Blake Griffin (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/3989/blake-griffin) and young center DeAndre Jordan (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/3442/deandre-jordan). The Clippers are determined to keep Jordan over Kaman as their center of the future as Jordan heads for restricted free agency.

But it appears that the Sixers are weighing various trade possibilities as they gauge the market for Iguodala. Earlier this week, ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher reported that the Sixers and Golden State Warriors (http://espn.go.com/nba/team/_/name/gs/golden-state-warriors) have likewise discussed a trade that would swap Monta Ellis (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/2751/monta-ellis) for Iguodala.

Trade talk generally picks up leaguewide at this time every year, as the NBA draft approaches, but sources say that the Sixers could well delay any trade until after the completion of the team's potential sale from Comcast-Spectacor to a group headed by New York-based leveraged buyout specialist Joshua Harris, as reported Tuesday by ESPN.com's Henry Abbott.

In both cases -- Iguodala for Kaman or Iguodala for Ellis -- current salaries for the players involved are close enough that the swap could be made without adding additional players to the deal to satisfy current salary-cap requirements.

Iguodala and Kaman are both represented by agent Rob Pelinka.

Seems like they'd be settling if they're really taking Kaman instead of Ellis.

That would be a good deal for the Clips.

I should admit that I'm not extremely familiar with Iggy's game... I've only seen him play 5 or 6 times. Can he play the 2 or is he too limited as a shooter? Because I'd love for this deal to create a logjam for the Clips that could benefit us...

He is a sg/sf and I too would hope to see EJ here as a result.

Ellis or Kaman? Thats a no brainer. Ellis all the way.

Offensively he's not a good enough shooter to play the 2.

However

Defensively he's very very good, and is more than capable of guarding any 2.

I'm confused on the insistence that you must be a top notch shooter to play SG, instead of SF. What's the difference? Dirk is a better shooter than most shooting guards, and he plays power forward.

Iggy would be 100% fine at SG. His ability to get to the rim and very good passing ability would help any offense from the SG, and he can defend any SG in the league.

Really Kaman? really?

wont have to worry about Philly fighting for the 8th seed for awhile

I don't think the deal is even straight up. The Clips should at least have to throw in Aminu.

Yeah this has to come with future picks or Aminu, unless Philly's insane.

except they have a $45M cap number and need to sign jordan, gordon and griffen over the next 3 summers. gonna be a tight fit.

Yeah Gordon would clearly be the odd man out if the cap number is low if this trade were done. Griffin is max salary, Jordan is probably going to take 8-10 million a year to keep, and Gordon is a near max salary, plus having Igoudala, plus with a notoriously cheap owner, there's no way they all stay.

Hasn't Kaman's health and production dropped the past couple of seasons? This just seems like a bad trade for the 76ers.

This would be a great deal for the Clippers.

For next season, Williams/EJ/Iggy/Griffin/Jordan sounds like the next Grizzlies surprise team if not better.

Wow I really hope this happens at this point. I don't think Clippers could actually afford to match us if we offered EJ a Max deal.

I haven't been paying much attention to the 76ers sale, but are they expected to sell soon? Like before the draft soon? I only ask because the article states Iggy is staying put until the sale is complete.

Don't people expect EJ to be a better player than Iggy next year?

So why would Iggy play in front of him?

EJ was better than him last year until he got hurt. Iggy can play the 3 and would. People who say the Clippers cant afford both remember they were willing to give Elton Brand and Bdiddy huge contracts before Brand bolted. The Clippers make money every year and they will pay EJ and keep the rest of the group together.

It would most likley come with Aminu Cooper

10m for Deandre Jordan? lol I would hope they dont do that. That would be a Andris Biedrins type contract i don't think they will give him that much. 4-7m is what they should give him.

Unless there is a hard cap the Clippers will keep all of them(or EJ ask for a trade)

Williams
EJ
Iggy
Blake
Jordan

that lineup would be crazy good.

This is most likely the Warriors and 76ers not agreeing to each other's asking price on a Monta/Iggy deal the the 76ers trying to leverage the W's by threatening to trade Iggy to a team that plays in the W's division.

If Kaman was 100% and low injury risk, I wouldn't do it. He's such a great fit next to Griffin, potentially. Assuming Griffin gets a lot smarter on D / commits more, which I'm sure he will. There's plenty to like about DeAndre, but he'll need a ton of hard work and years to get near Kaman's top level.

That said, 100% Kaman is probably a dream at this point. It makes it a no-brainer for the Clips... But for that reason I don't like it for Phillie.
A lot of "ifs".
Hopefully this doesn't turn into one of those ugly "Tyson Chandler's toe" situations.

My dream would be to trade Danny Granger and Posey and pieces somehow for Iggy and Millsap. Not gonna happen though.

I don't understand how anyone thinks this is going to "help us get EJ" in any realistic sense, but I have noticed that someone mentions that pretty much EVERY time the clippers come up in any trade rumor whatsoever.
