Simple question: outside of Reggie who is your favorite pacer of all time?

Wyatt

George McGinnis.

George McGinnis.

I think Boomer will kill whoever put his tail in a knot...

Probably a Bulls fan. Good figure.

I hope a Pacers fan puts Benny the Bull's horns in a knot.

Yes also outside of Reggie, I'm going with George McGinnis.

Dale Davis. Very close, Danny Granger.

I watched the Pacers many years ago, including George McGinnis...but I didn't follow the team closely until around the time Chuck Person was the man.

I would say Mark Jackson is my favorite Pacer not named Reggie Miller. He made the game fun and entertaining...and he was a great leader.

JO gets a lot of unnecessary flack from this board. a lot of people get on him, but he was a huge part of this team. i'm not a huge fan, and never was, but thats because i'm more interested in shooters and ball handlers. but don't doubt lots of people had avatars of JO back when this board was launched 7 years ago.

Completely agree. His biggest problem was his body just broke down. When he was healthy he was a dominant force in the NBA. I'd be happy to see him win a ring in Boston.

And LA confidential, I feel terrible for thanking a brawl video, but I lmao every time I see him do that

it was a joke i guess you dont get the humor. I do like Fred i though he was very classy post brawl and played alright. My favorite one would be Tim Hardaway lol. Favorite one who played for a long time during his prime here would be Ron Artest loved his defense and the way he played the game. They called me Artest in aau ball because i wore 1 of my 3 Ron Artest jerseys to every pratice.

the biggest thing about ronnie was that he had a good heart and still does. sometimes his heart got away from him and caused him to do some nutty things, but he had a good heart that was always appearing to be in the right place.

BTW, since we are in the favorite Pacer of all time thread, and I am a shameless IU fan, I saw some guy at the Fieldhouse today rocking a Damon Bailey (!) Pacers jersey. I thought I was the only person on Earth who still owned one of those things. It was amazing.

Not including off the court issues, easily Ron Artest.

If off the court issues are included it becomes much tougher. I'm too young for the ABA days, since 2000 it is too early for George and I love Foster but not any more than the guys from the 90's, and honestly I could just as easily pick Perkins as I could pick Jackson so can I say everyone who played for the Pacers from 1995 to 2000.

As a young kid, it was Rajah for me too. And it wasn't even close.
I can still vividly recall the old battles between Rajah and Willie
Wise of the Utah Stars.

Since then though ? None of them. Having grown up in the pre-Stern
(and ESPN) era back when it was mostly about 'teams, not individuals',
I just don't view the game that way.

I root for 'the Pacers', not the individual players on the team.

Note: Good to see another 'grisled veteran' posting on PD.

Jackson Shimmy,
You are right, those Stars-Pacers matchups were awesome, in fact although many said the Pacers-Colonels was are number one ABA rivalry, I always thought it was Paces-Stars.. We were so evenly matched and had some incredible games and play off series... not only Wise-Brown, you had Mel-Zelmo, Neto-Red Robbins, Freddie Lewis-Jimmy Jones, Ron Boone-Donnie Freeman, Glenn Combs-Billy Keller.. etc....

Anyway, my all time favorites:

tie 1st - Reggie and Mel Daniels
Freddie Lewis
Darnell Hillman
Roger Brown

I'm going with Mark Jackson. I loved watching him play. After him, I'd go with JO probably. After the trip to the Finals, and the working-rebuild Donnie pulled off, JO was the guy who kept us going. And man, he almost got us there but there were just too many bumps in that road.

I grew up watching the Pacers-Knicks rivalry, and seeing the Bulls win their rings, so anyone on those teams holds a special place, but it was all about Reggie and Mark for me. Smits and the Davis brothers were great, and when we added Mullin and Smooth, I loved them. But it was all about 13 and 31.

This new generation is creating niches for Hibbert, Hans, and DC (as they improve), but they've got a long way to go to reach anything resembling the old days. Earning a .500 record would be a good start. Granger is just there, for me. I like him, I really do, but his growth happened mostly while the team sucked so bad it was hard to appreciate him. And now, I can see what he is, and that we need someone better than him to proceed further as a franchise.

Oh, and on the list of least favorite, Jalen Rose, Ron Artest, Stephen Jackson, and Troy Murphy.
