Spotted this tidbit while reading the game recap at NBA.com.

Clippers guard and Indianapolis native Eric Gordon was catching some hometown playoff hoops.

Doesn't mean anything really, but it shows Gordon is at least interested in the Pacers (or maybe just the Bulls). I'm not an Indiana native so I don't have a love affair with Eric that some have, but I do think he is a very good SG and would love to have him on our team if he was interested.

So, do you guys think this means he may be interested in playing in Indiana, or do you think it was just a meaningless appearance? He doesn't become a free agent until 2013, but he may be available for trade in the near future if the Clippers do not improve.

Could be something, could be nothing. I spotted him sitting directly across the court from us/the Pacers bench last night, and I'd be lying if I said my initial thought wasn't "maybe he wants to come home". Eric is exactly the type of player that we have needed in this series, someone who can create their own shot and has the ability to get to the hoop and finish any time that he wants to.

Gordon and Derrick Rose were AAU teammates.

So were Gordon and McRoberts.

All the more reason for him to watch the game.

I hope somebody around him at the game asked him to sign with the Pacers.

For those curious, Gordon has been back in Indy for about a week or so. He hosted his Eric Gordon Super Shootout (Indy HS All Star game) at UIndy last Saturday and has been in Indy working out and spending time with family. Yes, he was at the Pacers game Thursday and I believe will be at the game again on Saturday.

I think there would be an interest from both Gordon and the Pacers about him coming to Indy. The Clippers will always be second (and maybe even 3rd in Southern California if and when the Kings come) fiddle. His family would prefer for him to play closer to home, if not in Indy. I think he could be that scoring 2 and perimeter player that we're missing. He'll be back in Indy some more this summer at the JCC and will be participating in Indy's Pro Am summer league I assume as well.

When will Gordon be able to get out of LA? He's drafted in 08, so he's under contract next year, and then he's restricted. Which means he's probably stuck there for another 4 years after next year.

He'd be a good fit for Indiana, but I'm not a big fan of trying to trade for a guy right before his contract is going to expire, even if he's a RFA. There would be a lot of pressure to pay more than we would probably want to pay.

Why would he be available for a trade?
Did we trade Granger in his 4th year when we sucked?
If you are a bad team, why would you trade your key young guy who's a restricted FA?

Why hasn't anybody put it out there that the Bulls are in desperate need of an upgrade at SG? I think he would want to play in Chicago more than he'd want to come here.

I don't actually think him being there means anything though. He is an NBA player with a playoff game happening while he is home. I would be there too for no other reason than to watch some of my friends playing in a big time game and great atmosphere.

I don't think Chicago could afford him. You can't pay Rose, Boozer, and Noah the way they are paid, or going to be paid in Rose's case, and expect to get another max contract guy, like Gordon, as well.

Not to mention Gordon isn't exactly a fan favorite in the state of Illinois.

Here will be Michael Grady's new line for the lineup....

"AND AT GUARD 6-3, an Indy native #23 ERRRRRRIIIIIIC GOOOORDON!!"

That would get a pumped up crowd excited hearing an Indiana native's name at the end and he being the leader.
