I'd like to state for the record no Pacer was involved

Morning video: Charlie Villanueva-Ryan Hollins bout doesn't get past first round

This fight between Detroit's Charlie Villanueva and Cleveland's Ryan Hollins didn't get very far despite the best efforts of Villanueva.

At least the altercation gave lie to the notion that there was no fight left in two NBA teams who have combined for 47 wins this year.

Not just "no Pacer" but no "former Pacer" or "potential Pacer" or "any name a casual fan of the Pacers would recognize as having even the most tenuous of connections to the Pacers" - for which we are truly thankful. :)

From what I've seen in Cavs/Pacers games, Ryan Hollins likes to start stuff. It's too bad that he doesn't focus on basketball.

And the crowd chanting "Charlie! Charlie!"

Stay classy Detroit.

Not much of a "fight". It's funny that Charlie, who appears to be the instigator, comes back out of the lockerroom looking for Hollins. He should have fought him when they were slow dancing, instead of hugging him.

This fight seems to have everyone as moved as watching two teenage girls fighting after school.

OMG.....I really wish I were making this up.

This line is included in the ESPN recap of the game.

"The scene didn't quite escalate to the level of the infamous Pistons-Pacers brawl of 2004, but"

Give it up already ESPN. There's no reason, NONE whatsoever to even mention the Pacers in this story. ESPN has a hard-on for giving the Pacers grief.

Far be it for me to defend BSPN but I think they only made that comparison because this is the biggest fight the Palace has had in the NBA anyways since 2004.

Charlie V would get housed by Kevin Garnett.

I'm embarrassed. Ryan Hollins? Really?

Zeke decking Bill Cartright, I could get into. Rill Laimbeer and Barkley? Sign me up. Corliss Williamson vs. Jermaine O'Neal was even good back in the day.

Charlie Villanueva....and Ryan Hollins?

I think the quality of our fights directly reflect the quality of our team.

Next time try to pick on someone that doesn't look like Tayshaun's taller nephew. If you had reacted that way with KG, I'd have more respect for you. This just makes you look like a gigantic tool.

"I'll kill that dude. I don't give a ****." - Charlie Villanueva

Does this mean KG was right about Villanueva being a cancer to the league?

if that's what he actually said, which is about a %1 chance.

Looks like Charlie got a handful of Ryan.

That might **** me off a bit too.

The rest of the 'fight' ............. well, lame gives it too much credit.

I still cant help but shake my head and laugh when I think about Dumars signing Charlie V and Ben Gordon. And hired Kuester that same summer. I swear Dumars must have discovered Davidson slept with his wife or something.

They should suspend Charlie V next season for as many games as they suspended Stephen Jackson. He was just as out of control.

It accentuates the trappings of having money and not having guys who fit your team. Bucks did the same then last year. I'm glad that both teams did this, since they are both in the Central and the East.

Pacers just need to take notice, though.

5 game suspension for Villanueva.

I would have given him 10.

I figure you probably wish they could give him like 300 games or whatever the length of the rest of his contract is.

Nope, just 10.

5 for fighting, and 5 for picking Ryan Hollins to fight.
