View Full Version : 2011 NBA Playoffs: (2) Miami vs. (7) Philadelphia

Well, the great experiment goes into the postseason as one of the NBA's hottest teams.

Philly, meanwhile, is a team few expected to be here, but under Doug Collins, they have grown into one of the best defensive teams in the league.

Nobody expects this to be close, but I thnk Philly will shock Miami in one of the first two games, then drop the series in 5.

Key matchup: Andre Igoudala vs LeBron James. Iggy is one of the very few wings with both the size and speed to bother LeBron. He's the key to Philly being competitive.

For this series, as long as Wade is healthy, I expect Miami to sweep Philly. When James and Wade gets going early, it's hard to stop that team. The weakness of Miami that Philly can exploit is the frontcourt defense. That means more Elton Brand on offense.

For as much hype as this "team" was getting in the off season, I would love to see them get knocked out in the first round.

I haven't really followed the Sixers that much, but I know they are a decent team.

I expect LeBron and Wade to take over most of the series, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Sixers steal a couple of games.

I am predicting the Heat win in 6.

Heat in 6. Philly has a strong bench that Miami can't compete with but overall they won't be able to stop Lebron/Wade.

Going with Heat in 6 here. Philly always seems to surprise a little in the playoffs, but they don't have the players at PG and C to take advantage of the Heat's weaknesses.

Sixers had a really nice first half, but the Heat's defense is just too good. I love that we're the most competitive lower seed on the road so far, albeit two games in. :)

I think the Sixers will win one. The Heat will have to iron out a few kinks before they hit cruise control in the playoffs.

I can't watch it because the local ABC station is flipping out over a hurricane coming.

The issue is that it's the same thing over and over.

I'd like to watch it, but now I'm still watching nonstop replays on NBATV of today's game.

My friend from Cary mentioned something about a tornado warning. Hope everything's okay down in NC.

My county is fine (which is also Cary). We just had really heavy rain and lightning which knocked the power out for a good 20 minutes, but it didn't cause any damage.

Fortunately the storm came as soon as the game ended.

Some of the areas more northwest in NC and towards the city of Raleigh had some serious damage and phone lines down.

Sucks because ABC is for all over the state and they don't have an alternative channel to put the game on.

Thadeus Young would look great in a Pacer uniform... RedFoster talked this guy up at a couple Pacer games this season. I can see why. Instead of focusing on improving our starting PF, we should focus on getting a young guy like this to back up Hans.

Call me crazy but Miami is a boring team to watch.

They actually are and it's difficult to explain why.

I mean LeBron with Cleveland was fun to watch because he was the lone star of the team.

Even Miami when it was just Wade was fun to watch.

The 2 of them together on the same team just doesn't seem like a true team, IMO.

It seems more of an All-Star team.

I feel like the Bulls can beat them out mainly because they play more like a team and have better players at every position.

Everything Miami does is an ISO play. They try to keep LeBron and Wade as far apart from each other as possible. They wind up with a lot of tough shots, but they make them anyway, because they are simply that good. It isn't fluid basketball, though.

The Bulls will need to play much better than they did today. Rose can't beat Wade and LeBron together and won't get to the line more than them

It's not necessarily on Rose.

I said the Bulls can beat the Heat because they play more like a unit than the Heat do and have better options at positions that the Heat players can't stop like Noah at center.

That is why they will fall short of the championship. You can't win a championship with just 2 or 3 players, you need at least 5 and preferably 10.

The Bulls won plenty of them with just four above-average players. The difference is they all complimented each other much better.

I can't bare to watch Miami Heat home games.

That PA announcer of theirs is so annoying.

PEOPLE ARE THERE TO WATCH THE HEAT, NOT LISTEN TO YOU!

Another thing, I hate Erik Spoelstra. He's full of himself and is not a good coach. He thinks he's great because he has LeBron, Wade, Bosh, but he's terrible.

Wade so far has 4 blocked shots and I've seen 2 offensive rebounds from him in the last 10 minutes.

Those Bulls teams of the 1990s had much greater depth but the star power edge goes to the Heat.

Of course they did, but MJ and Pippen covered up a lot of flaws. They willed those teams to win. Like in 98 when they were grabbing 1 offensive rebound after another against the Pacers who were a far deeper team, stronger and more physical than the Bulls.

The Sixers have looked much, much better than the Pacers in their Game 4. Instead of rather comically a huge lead in the last quarter, they came back from a deficit. Also, the Sixers' young guys are quite a bit more exciting and have way more potential. They have a lot more positives to take from this series; I'd label them as the most likely team to make a marked improvement next year.

On the other hand the Heat are worse than the Bulls, so take that for what's it's worth.
