INDIANA STATE UNIVERSITY is going to the NCAA tourney for the first time in 10 years. Winning the MVC tourney earlier today against the number 1 seed Missouri State

I wonder if Larry Bird be able to come and watch them in the tournament. What do gms have to do around this time?

Also as a current isu student, I'm excited!

I'm upset that they had to beat the mighty Purple Aces on their march to the tournament, but I'm always happy when Indiana teams go dancing.

Jake odum is going to be a hell of a player if he keeps his head on straight

Next year they should be even better. They've got Odum for one more year after this one and just wait until Gant from Terre Haute North gets there. They'll go the NCAA's every year he's there. That dude is tall and smooth. An absolute scoring machine who will tear up defenses nightly in the MVC. Range to about 16 feet and can even bring the ball up the floor in a pinch. Needs to get better on defense, but his offense is Division I level right now and has been for several years. They have three commits for next year and now that this group who will be back has an NCAA appearance under their belt they should have no trouble filling that 4th spot with a solid player.

Knowing that Purdue and ND were both going to be pretty good, if you had told me at the start of the season that ISU would be the first Indiana team to punch their ticket I'd have called you crazy.

That sounds good Trav. I thought Odum was a redshirt freshman? That gives him 3 more years doesn't it? I was very excited and happy with the outcome today to say the least!

Yes that's my mistake on Odum. He has an older bro and I thought we were talking about him. They're from TH South so I don't know about them as much as I do about the TH North kids. Odum does have three years left.

One of the things that I like about this ISU team is that they are peaking at the right time. Wichita State KILLED the Trees in both regular season meetings, and then ISU turns it over on them on a neutral court. They also went to Southern Illinois and Northern Iowa late in the season and beat two teams that almost NEVER lose an MVC game at home.

I also feel bad for Mo. State and Wichita State. I would be really surprised if either made the NCAA's now. Mo. State lost to Indiana State twice, once an a neutral court, lost to a .500 Evansville team, and lost their bracket buster to Valparaiso. Wichita State did almost upset Uconn early in the season, but they also lost to ISU on a neutral court, lost to an under .500 SIU team at home, and also lost their bracket buster at home. If the two had met in the MVC title game and played each other tough, one would be in the dance and the other would have had a good shot at it. Instead they both lost to the Trees and neither are gonna make it.

Wichita State won in triple overtime at their place against ISU, and as for the game in Terre Haute it was closely contested until the Shockets broke it open in the last 5 minutes of the game.

I was at the Wichita State game in Terre Haute and that's not the way I remember it. ISU played them close until about 2 minutes to go in the first half. Wichita took the lead for good there and never trailed in the second half, and was up by 10 or more for almost all of it. The three overtime loss at Wichita, they were gassed and lost it by 10. Doesn't matter now though does it?

Also, is it alright to say that ISU could be the top team in the conference next year since WSU and MSU could be on the decline? That'd mean it could be ISU and maybe Creighton fighting for the top... hmmm.

also Larry Bird comments, scroll through the twitter.

I would say so, but it's always too early to tell. That kid from Creighton is a stud.

Even though I'm an ISU alum I would have rather had Missouri State win.

I live near the ISU campus and is good friends with their freshman point guard Jake Odum. They don't lack heart that's for sure.

Looks like the pacers put up the video of Bird's interview about isu a few hours after those tweets.

IU is the only under .500 D-1 team in the state. Simply sad.
