are they just nuts?

Why is Scott Padgett on our roster in Live 2005?

Some of those player ratings suck, btw. Like JO being 84, but Ron 72 :wtf:

I don't know...maybe that is under a "dynasty mode" where some trades have already occurred - like Padgett (:suicide:).

As for the ratings, I have found that Ron always seems to be a little low (in my opinion) in these games.

And as for Bender starting...well, I always find that they tend to make him TOO good in these games!

Yeah, gotta be dynasty. No way would they start bender outright.

Those ratings still suck.

JO=MVP Canidate.
Artest=DPOY.
Stephen Jackson=18 ppg last season.

Man, look at those years of experience... 8, 5, 5, 17, 3. One of those things is not like the other.

It's more of the same as you look at the bench.

Eh, those are about right.

Keep in mind, NBA live ratings are low.

NBA starters- 60's

all-stars- 70's

all-NBA- 80's

Superstars- 90's

You could argue theyre a little low, but not too much.

Hicks

An 18ppg, DPOY is on the low end of 70s though. That's just wrong.

Yeah unless theres a new rating for "mental stability" that's really low for Ronnie.

Kstat
09-23-2004, 11:33 PM
Actually, I dont even think those stats are updated. Those are all the same player ratings as Live 2004. I think even the players' NBA years are the same.

This must be a really, REALLY raw version.

I think you're right Kstat.

Nice one.

Hicks

I was thinking the stats may be the same as last year, too. But some of them look different to me. I thought Reggie was still a low 70 last year, and Fred was only a 40 something.

Plus, the years are correct I think. It has Fred w/ 2 years under his belt instead of one.

Also, Kstat, to go by your scale (which while I doubt they think of it that way, it's a very good way to explain it), Ron should be in the 80s; I think he made 3rd team All-NBA this year too.

Nevermind, those are accurate. IGN.com has all the player rating, here are Ron's:

Field goals: 66 (3rd on the club, Reggie leads all with 84)

3-point: 63 (5th on team, Reggie is 1st with an 86, TIns is 2nd with a 79)

free throws: 73

dunking: 51:laugh: Guess that missed dunk in game 6 cost him...(Jones leads the team with a 90)

Stealing: 86(2nd on team to tinsley's 88)

Blocking: 31(JO leads with an 86)

offensive rebounding: 29 (Foster is 10+ ahead everyone else with an 86)

Defensive rebounding: 56 (JO leads team with an 88)

passing: 49 (can't argue there, Tins leads team with a 81)

offensive awareness: 79 (2nd on team to JO)

defensive awareness: 80 (leads team)

quickness: 83 (leads team, 1 point better than Jamaal)

jumping: 56 (Freddie leads team with a 97:o)

dribbling: 61 (tins leads team with an 86)

strength: 76 (2nd on team to pollard, 9 points better than JO)

hardiness (basically your player's mental strength):55. By comparison, JO and foster are 85's, and Reggie is an 89.

inside scoring: 60 (2nd in rotation to JO's 90)

Primacy (how much your ratings go up/down in the clutch):57. Oddly enough, thats good for 2nd on the team. JO leads the team with an 81. Reggie took a big dip with a 35. Last year I believe he led the team.

I'm glad they bumped up Tinsley's 3p shooting. It was like 56 or 60 last year i think.

for the Pistons, Chancy got a 71, Rip Hamilton got a 73, Big Ben got a 77, and Sheed got an 81. Prince got a 65, up a whopping 14 points from last year.

Darko DROPPED 8 points from last year:laugh:

Kstat
09-24-2004, 12:15 AM
TMac got a 90, Shaq got a 92, Kobe got a 94,

and just for fun, Al HArrington got a 71. comapred to stephen jackson's 63.

other Pacers tidbits:

-Reggie got a 10 dunk rating. Tinsley got a 0.

-Both Foster and Pollard managed fat 0's in 3-point shooting, but david harrison managed a 3:laugh:

-Harrison is a 52 overall, 1 point better than Darko Milicic:laugh:

-Harrison is the worst FT shooter on the team, at 55.

-In the, "couldnt vertical over his playbook" contest, AJ has the worst jump rating, with 41.

-while both artest and JO lead the team in stamina with 80 ratings, James Jones is last with a 9 rating. Thats right, 9. Bender is next with a 35.

-whats worse, you ask? Scot Pollard's 7 passing rating. Foster and Bender are in the teens, but well ahead of Pollard.

Wow some of those ratings for Ron... someone at EA hates him I think.

And Primacy is how many points a player scores, i think. It's hard to explain, but it's basically a way to keep someone like Bender, with all his scoring potential, from averaging 20 points in the sims.

It would be interesting to see what the steal numbers would be like with Tinsley, Jackson, Artest, and Foster all in the starting lineup.

Fun fun fun.

Terrible ratings... I'm sure NBA2k5 will have them more realistic. I think this is the year to covert all the ea sports fanboys to the real deal, we'll see....

Regarding the ratings, EA addressed it in a interview last night:

Operation Sports: Will you be using the 0-99 rating system or 50-99? NBA Live 2005 Team: 0-99. This gives us better player skill differentiation. Incidentally, we frequently read feedback regarding ratings that are off/wrong, but we base all of our numbers directly from the end-of-season NBA statistics. So, before complaining that Walter McCarthy’s 3 point rating is higher than Paul Pierce, check the stats. 

wow Pierce only shot 30 percent last year, Waltah shot 37%

*yawn*

You do realize its people like you that make other people NOT want to try 2K, don't you?

Like EA's ratings really matter anyway, you can always edit them yourself. They come into play online, but thats all. I just thought it'd be a fun topic. I could care less if they were all 99's or 0's.

We're going to do this like we did last year. If you're a 2K fan, start your own 2K thread in the pub. If you're a Live fan, post in Live threads. Save the flame wars for gamefaqs.

well maybe not the -hardcore- ea sports fanboys ;)

with those ratings it's no wonder you can't shoot over 30%
I wasn't trying to start a "flame war", just posting a thought.. if you took offense to it then what can I say? Truth hurt? :p

First of all, you obviously don't play live, or you'd know better.

Secondly, the ratings dont mean you CANT shoot over %30. They don't translate to the game that way.

Thirdly, hopeless fanboys posting "thoughts" is often how flame wars start.
