02-27-2011, 12:54 AM
Thought this would be cool to discuss.

Mine was Reggie on a Pacers hat.

02-27-2011, 12:57 AM
Chuck Person and Clark Kellog, first game with my dad.

02-27-2011, 01:36 AM
My dad had an acquaintance who was related to Fred Hoiberg somehow, and he arranged for me to meet the mayor. It's funny to think now how awestruck I was by meeting him.

02-27-2011, 01:49 AM
Byron Scott.

02-27-2011, 01:51 AM
Rik Smits on a little pacers basketball. It was at one of those blue and gold practice game things before the season started maybe?? Was going to get Reggie but his table was packed. I think I may have got Mark Jackson and a couple others as well. It is all a blur though.

All I remember was that we got to sit courtside because my friend's dad knew someone. Then Dale let my friend shoot a 3 during warmups. It was awesome. No other autographs to this day unfortunately.

Artest. I was the Assistant Media Director for one of the HS Sectionals right after the Brawl, and he happened to show up. Couldn't get him to do a halftime interview for the radio station though. Really nice guy though.

Rik Smits. Nice guy and seemed taller than Godzilla to an eight year old. I got to go on the court during warm up and Rik signed a card for me, and subsequently sweat all over it while he took the time to talk to me for a bit. I happened to see Rik at the OKC game this year. I didn't bother him but it's cool that he's still in Indy and goes to some games.

02-27-2011, 02:30 AM
Granger at the meet and greet he did a couple months back. Since then my GF got a picture of her and Rush signed and we got Stephenson's autograph at halftime of the Wolves game.

02-27-2011, 02:45 AM
Mine would be Mel Daniels. I was a wee little tot. I also got Dudley Bradley. Does anybody remember him? He was a defensive specialist in the league.

Got a lot of Colts autographs when I was real young, though. But my Billy Brooks autographed card doesn't hold a lot of sentiment for me.

02-27-2011, 03:21 AM
Mine was Dale Davis.

02-27-2011, 05:11 AM
My first autograph was from Rik Smits it was in 96 I was only 12 and wearing a pacers yellow XXL shirt that looked like a tent on me that said "Smits Happens" and I asked him "Mr. Smits when you're done practicing can you sign this?" He said sure and nodded got a pretty good kick out of my shirt and signed my shirt and a little pacers basketball. I still have the shirt and the basketball. I remember we were playing the Charlotte Hornets that day cause my sister got her first autograph and got Larry Johnson to sign his dream team card.

I got within about 15 feet of Reggie when he randomly came to watch our state finals back in 2006.

02-27-2011, 06:16 AM
mine is Dahntay Jones...when he was shopping in Beijing with coach Karl, he gave me an autograph

Stuart Gray at MSA, went to see Pacers/Pistons with my dad circa 1988-89. He promptly got ejected in the first for fighting with (shockingly) Bill Laimbeer.

02-27-2011, 10:21 AM
Jeff Foster signed my ticket for me a few years back.

02-27-2011, 10:28 AM
detlef schrempf pre game.

02-27-2011, 10:36 AM
I'm guessing I got one with Darnell Hillman (we used to sit close to his kid, who would from time to time, go out on the floor with Dancing Harry during timeouts).

Next one I remember was from Slick.

02-27-2011, 11:13 AM
My first Pacers autographs were Rik Smits and Travis Best and I would say I was about 8 or 9 at the time. I was standing above the tunnel and it seemed like Smits was still standing higher than me. They both used a pretty crappy pen though so I think I traced over them when I was younger to try and "save" them. They still have personal value.

02-27-2011, 12:20 PM
Reggie Miller on a game program.

02-27-2011, 12:40 PM
First live game was against the Pistons on my 12th birthday in 96, Grant Hill's second season I believe. I remember Reggie got 2 tip blocks I think and it blew my 12 year old mind, Reggie blocking two shots in one game, other than that it was fairly an uneventful game, Good Guys won by 10 or so. Got a shirt signed by Haywoode, Dale, Rik, Reggie, and Derrick.

02-27-2011, 12:46 PM
Marquis Daniels' autograph on a planner with TJ Ford on the cover. :unimpress

This, I got a picture with Scott Polack if that counts.

Antonio Davis back around 1994

I also got Dudley Bradley. Does anybody remember him? He was a defensive specialist in the league.

My friend and I used to wear our shorts with the strings hanging out in the front because that is what Dudley Bradley did.

My only autograph is Rick Mount when I was 5 or 6.

02-27-2011, 03:28 PM
Steve Stipanovich

02-27-2011, 04:29 PM
My first autograph was from Reggie Miller, Chuck Person and others at a Pacers Basketball camp at the University of Indianapolis waaaay back in the day.

02-27-2011, 08:25 PM
The first one I got from a Pacer I believe was either Jermaine O'Neal or Marquis Daniels back in like the 07-08 season.

02-28-2011, 10:54 AM
Mel Daniels
Billy Keller

02-28-2011, 11:02 AM
Danny his rookie year and I thought it was the coolest thing ever... Oh the monster it turned into...

02-28-2011, 11:27 AM
Reggie Miller the 3rd or 4th game of his rookie year. A few of us kids ran into him in the hallway at MSA after the game as he was leaving. He signed my shoes, which I literally took off and handed to him. I wore those shoes until they damn near fell apart and I still have them to this day. He was that day and several other times after that the nicest celebrity I have ever met.

02-28-2011, 12:58 PM
The Pacers came to visit Eli Lilly back in the early 80's and my dad had them sign a Pacer Pendant. The players I can remember that signed it was:

Vern Fleming
Clint Richardson
Herb Williams
Steve Stipanovich
There were a couple of more but can't remember the names.

I also have an autographed team photo from 1998, Larry Bird's first season as head coach, with everyone from the team's signature. I got it from one of my client's back then who had season tickets.

02-28-2011, 04:54 PM
Danny granger on an autographed rookie card. my first in person was Paul George at the fan jam .

03-01-2011, 05:10 PM

detlef schrempf pre game.Mine was Detlef Schrempf post-game. I was ecstatic! Det was my favorite Pacer at the time! He was a bit stoic and didn't say much. Probably because he pretty much had an unimpeded path to his car with his wife until I saw him. I yelled out, "Detlef! Detlef!" Then like 15 people materialized out of nowhere. I'm sure he was like, "Darnit."

03-03-2011, 04:27 PM
Paul George in person but it was when he played for Fresno State so don't know if that would quite count.

03-03-2011, 04:34 PM
My first autograph came from Reggie. Though, I wasn't the one who acquired it. My childhood friend Sam was standing by a door when it swang open quickly. The door hit my friend in the face, causing him to fall on his rear. From behind the door appeared, none other, Reggie Miller. Reggie was very apologetic to Sam and gave the boy two autographs. One autograph Sam kept and the other he gave to me.

Great story about the Reggie auto. Thanks for sharing.
