After the Full Season Ticket Holder party last week, we heard from several of you about playing the front office staff in a game of basketball in Conseco Fieldhouse. We have accepted the challenge and set the playing date for Thursday at 5pm.

We want you to bring your A game as we will do the same. Our final roster is not set, but you can expect Jake Vernon (@PacersVPTix on Twitter), Alan Mowrey (@abmowrey) and me (@Rlaycock), among others.

What:
Pacers Front Office League vs. Pacers Digest

Where:
Practice Court in Conseco Fieldhouse

When:
Thursday, Feb. 24 at 5pm

Who:
Any Pacers Digest members (up to 10 with minimum of 5)

How:
1. Confirm your participation on this thread - make sure you list your full name or DM it to me (Limited to first 10)
2. Arrive to the Indiana University Health Entry Pavilion in Conseco Fieldhouse by 5pm with photo ID and ready to play (please don't put on your playing shoes until you get inside)
3. Sign the waiver (to be provided) and then you'll be escorted to the Practice Court

Who's up for it?

To keep this thread clean and current I'm going to stiky it and also delete posts that are not there to sign up or ask a question regarding the game itself.

No offense intended to you guys who have posted but this way they can keep a clean running count of people who will play. Please use the thanks button if you wish to thank RobfromPacers.

We could use 1 person to take photos, so if you're interested in only watching, then I have no problem with you attending. I can't open it up to everyone because we need to keep the group tight as we are in the practice court.

We have a good group of players, but no one is off the charts. Expect healthy competition.

Who else is playing? Gnome? Hicks? El Pacero? AvonD?

How do I submit my name? I may show up at halftime unless I can get out of work a few min. early and find a good parking spot down there.

I'd certainly like to participate, as it sounds fun and it's called the Pacers Digest team for cryin' out loud, but alas:

1) I work that night

2) I suck

3) I would only play if it were half court anyway (fat + asthma = no full court for me!)

Depends on who wins... if PD pulls out a victory, then you never know.

At this point, we won't make it a "first Monday of every month" type of a schedule, but from time to time it would be fun to put a game together. The tough part is we rarely have open court time in the evenings as we have so many events in Conseco Fieldhouse between Pacers, Fever, shows, and private events.

MagicRat is in, too.

You're on your own for parking. Downtown has plenty of places to park in walking distance of Conseco Fieldhouse (Virginia Ave Garage, metered parking on Penn St, Circle Centre).

The Indiana University Health Entry Pavilion is the "main entrance" of Conseco Fieldhouse.

Just got back from the event.. PD rightfully lacked chemistry and stamina.. And we got beat pretty handily.

Highlights for me: Exchanged words with Coach Vogel.. That was too epic.
saw big Roy Hibbert up close and personal

One word: Pacemates :)

It was a great time but if it happens again.. We definitely need to practice. Thank you robfrompacers so much.. It was totally awesome

One word: Embarrassing
Two Words: Double Embarassing - With the Pacemates there to witness it.

Just in case you didn't know who I was, I was obviously the one who brought the jerseys, Green headband! That was the biggest blowout I've ever been a part of. I thought we could have used me bringing it up some more but I wanted everyone to have equal PT. Anyway I tend to over pass, in situations like tonight since everyone was so exited to play on the court, I was looking for others to knock down open jumpers. It was DEF. fun but I don't know if that team could ever compete with them.

So Rob or any other PFOL players I am challenging your leagues all-stars vs. the league I help run all-stars. It would be much more competitive. I think it would be like when the ABA merged with the NBA. Just saying. I would love to get something together between the 2 leagues. or instead of all-stars your league champs vs. ours.

Check us out: www.goGTBA.com

Also a great league for anyone who is interested. We are in the middle of the season, so if you want more details contact me.

if the PFOL would like a rematch i would be down. i have a gym on the eastside. its not the pacers practice court.. but its nice/sufficient & free.

we run open gym thursday evenings, and can set it up for 10 on 10 with ease.

if anyone is willing from PFOL feel welcome to pm me.

Agree, we got straight up embarrassed. I played like total garbage, and felt terrible. Words of advice, don't get blood drawn and play basketball a couple of hours later.

T - I talked to you at Conseco, and I checked out the website, I'm definitely interested in joining the league. I know your in the middle of a season right now, but when you start the next one I would like to definitely join. I won't have too many games like I did today.

Damn. Burns me up that PD lost like that.

It was just horrid timing for me. A hernia scare and a very bad ab muscle strain around abdominal scar tissue has kept me out of a gym and on my butt for the last month. I really, really hope this thing goes down again when I'm physically capable of running up and down the floor and have my hops back.

Rob talked me out of it, I thought about coming anyway to see how much running I could do.

It was nice playing? with you. I thought we could have used another to bring the ball up as well, maybe you would have tried to push the ball instead of letting their team come down and set up on defense darn near every time. I am still kind of confused by that strategy #14 was running. You could definitely tell most of us had not played together though, and you could tell we need to get into the exercise room a little more often. I would be interested in your league as well, when and where is it?

No need for thanks.....and I am sure that I am speaking for everyone here...but thanks ( again ) for letting fans get a taste of playing on the same Court as the Real Pacers do ( even if it's just the practice Court ).

It's not everyday that a fan gets to enjoy an experience like this.

Unfortunately, it will always be on short notice as the courts are normally always in use for something. For example, the Pacemates had the court from 6-8pm that night because they had practice. The main court was booked all afternoon due to a youth basketball league.

I'll try to give as much notice as possible though.

so what was the score?

The score is irrelevant.

I hadn't played a full court game in 5 years. Not to mention the fact that I'm 84 years old. Nevertheless, it was a fun time and it was good to get a run on the practice court.

We had issues with transition D (turnover. outlet pass. layup. missed shot. outlet pass. layup). @pacersvptix went with the shoot to get hot strategy and started knocking down the 3ball late to pile on. The only thing I could come up with was to play without the jersey and try to flummox them with my gray t-shirt.

Still, though, it was a lot of fun and I appreciate the opportunity. Thanks again, Rob.

Hopefully it happens again. I play for a few hours every day, and I always find myself wishing the courts were a little more spaced out. The 3pt lines at the BSU gym are high school 3's, so if you post up and get a pass, you're double teamed pretty quickly. Would've been fun to play on a court with NBA 3's so defenders are drawn further out.

You obviously weren't there, the NBA 3 made not one bit of difference. We were so much slower and out of shape than the front office, we were beaten down the floor EVERY SINGLE TIME, some of our folks couldn't even make it past half court. I play once a week, but I don't think 75% of the PD representatives that showed up at Conseco had even picked up a ball in at least 3-5 years, so hopefully those folks will be showing up at open gym Thurs. The result looked alot like this, which shows even those at the highest level have their bad days:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/boxscore;_ylt=AjohPfpiTlQdyrGZh1.Bn1KkvLYF?gid=201 1030207

I hope nobody takes offense, not trying to rip on anyone's game or conditioning, mine needs work as well.

Wow, that sounds pretty bad. I'm pushing 50, but still play once a week and get up and down the court OK. Of course, I always call for mass substitutions every 5 minutes, which keeps my team fresh.

I think it's terrible that once we grow up and get real jobs, most people forget to make time to go out and play or do at least something to try to keep fit. Basketball is really my only opportunity to forget job and family issues---if you don't concentrate on the game, you'll get hit in the chops either by the ball or an elbow, or both!
